My mum got absolutely shit faced in a pub with Rod and his entire road crew when they were at Cardington hangers getting his stage built. The guy is a legend, down to earth and paid the bar tab at the pub too. Even signed an 18th birthday card for me too as a surprise.

This was a true story from what happened to Rod too ! ' Maggie May' is about the conflicted emotions of a boy involved in a relationship with an older woman and was written from Rod's own experience. In the January 2007 issue of Q magazine, he said: "'Maggie May' was more or less a true story, about the first woman I had sex with, at the 1961 Beaulieu Jazz Festival."

Maggie May" is a song co-written by singer Rod Stewart and Martin Quittenton, and performed by Rod Stewart on his album Every Picture Tells a Story, released in 1971. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked the song number 130 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Saw him in concert with Cindi Lauper a couple years ago. Dude is in his 70's and still rocking it. Great voice, great tunes, great performer. No auto-tune technology to make him sound better, he is the real deal. And this is the song that kicked it all off.

This album is a classic and Maggie is as good today as it was day 1. Still in my play rotation all these years later. The mandolin is just perfect. Everything Rod touched was good right back to the early days with The Jeff Beck Group (& even earlier with Long John Baldry) Still going strong too!

Love Rod, went to see him the last time he was in Dublin. At 72 he still has the same voice. He’s amazing 🤩 such a kind artist. It said on the ticket no photos or recording. When he walked on stage he told the audience to ignore the tickets. Take all the photos you want record anything you want. Then kicked out 400 Celtic footballs for the lucky ones who caught them. He’s really amazing 🤩 great reaction

How fascinating. I,stupidly and naively, thought that as I had been out with endless Women for the last 40+ years and lived with 4 of them and at one point until Covid was dating 4 of them, simultaneously, each for 20+ years, in Open Relationships that I did not have chick tendencies but hey! who knows as Rod liked to wear Women's clothes but then Rod never did fancy Women like Britt Ekland.......hang on a minute.....:)

That's not Keef, it's Ronnie Wood. They both had the birds nest hairstyle at the time, so I suppose your confusion is understandable, and of course Ronnie ended up in the Stones. Every Picture Tells A Story was a solo album, but Rod was also in The Faces at the time and they're the band on this. The Faces were basically the Small Faces minus Steve Marriot. Ronnie Wood, Ronnie Lane (bass), Kenney Jones (drums) and Ian McLagan (keyboards).

When this came out I was 7. My older sister was 16 and her boyfriend would come over and they would listen to music. He brought over this album and I would beg them to play Maggie May over, and over. Her boyfriend ended up gifting me the album for keeps so I could play it on my record player. Pretty sure it was to get me to leave them alone . . . and it worked. I remember the album cover was shaped like a whisky glass with curved edges. At the time I thought it was a drum 😁. I wish I still had it!
