This was probably a pretty good song to break you into Slayer. This is one of their slower songs, other slower ones you might like: South Of Heaven, Dead Skin Mask and Ghosts Of War. If you choose to go for the faster songs try Angel Of Death, Postmortem/ Raining Blood and Repentless. Hard to go wrong with Slayer. Have fun on your journey!

Fun fact, the video for Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss was filmed in Cairo, Egypt in May 1990. The video was produced by Propaganda Films. Rick Rubin came up with the idea to shoot in Egypt. Slayer!!

Slayer is thrash metal. One of the first thrash metal bands with Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax. They are known as the big 4. The originals. The more you listen to them, Angel the more you will like them.

Probably the most accessible slayer song to the mainstream. From a music standpoint you need to do either Angel of Death or Raining blood l. But it’s very entertaining seeing people react to the repentlass video

They are one of the godfathers of thrash. This is the easiest song to listen to everything else is much harder and beautiful.

This is very subtle for slayer. Check out Angel of death or watch the video of Repentless. It’s brutal.

The video also includes locals waving torches in the band's faces, which some say bolsters the song's lyrics about "a bloody tomb," "a sadist ritual," and the need to watch someone bleed. Slayer is thrash metal part of the big 4 : metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. The thrash metal big 4 many would consider Testament the 5th band if it was the big 5… hahah

This is a great song for your first time reaction to SLAYER! it is one of their slower songs. You might want to listen to 'Dead Skin Mask' and 'Skeletons of Society' also along this line before you dive into some of their classic heavier stuff. They are considered thrash metal, the kings of thrash - in my opinion. You might also want to listen to 'Raining Blood' 'War Ensemble' 'Angel of Death' 'South of Heaven' just to name a few... I hope you enjoy your journey down the rabbit hole!

South of Heaven and Dead Skin Mask are my two favorite slower songs like this on by Slayer. Dead skin Mask is written about a serial killer. If that isn't your thing, you may want to stay away.

No..., Slayer are a Thrash Metal band!. They are the best thrash Metal band and the best band in my tiny little builder brain that ever existed. I'm happy you picked this song as a starter but you really need to have a go at their other more hardcore Thrash songs to get the true picture of what they are about.
