I was born in Mexico. My 3 sisters were boen here in the U.S. This country has provided oportunities for the 4 of is, that no other could. In my heart I always felt like we owed something, and one of us would have to pay that debt. So I did. I served in the US Navy for 22yrs. I served with honor and pride for me family. and today, retired, I have an 11yr old daughter, 2 nieces and a nefew. I would drop eveeything and serve another 22 for them. Toby never served. The "Tank Commander" certificate was a way of showing appreciation for support people show for them. The TF 1/77 AR is short for Task Force, First of the Seventy Seventh Armored Regiment. I spent 24 years in the Army Infantry and 3 tours in Iraq. In my 24 years I never once found anyone who did not love Toby, whether they were fans of country music or not. Toby was a True Blue American who loved and was proud of his country and of our military. We loved him just as much as he loved us. His passing leaves a void that cannot ever be filled not only in country music but in our country's consciousness. His patriotism was as solid as a piece of granite. RIP Brother, you will live on forever in your music

In 2002 I wass a MP camp Casey South Korea, the USO was hosting a huge 4th of July celebration and brought in celebrities, singers, Dallas cowboy cheerleaders. I got tasked with the escorting and back stage protection of Toby Keith and the cheerleaders. Toby was the nicest most patriotic guy I ever met. I reached out to shake hands and said “sir, I’m a huge fan it’s a honor to meet you.” He shook his head like no and said “no sir, it’s and honor to meet you- I’m just a singer and your here doing the job.” One hell of a guy! He had just released “angry American” and played it it was amazing hearing 50,000 troops going Insane singing along. RIP Toby 🫡🇺🇸

Toby is battling stomach cancer these days, but he’s holding on. I’ve actually spoken with him. He’s entertained our troops for years now, and I simply adore him. Anyway, his brilliant song includes so many of the US’s National symbols. He mentions old glory, our flag, the eagle, our national bird, the Liberty Bell, and The Statue of Liberty. He mentions the 4th of July when we got our independence. When he says,”Uncle Sam,” that’s our military name/code. He’s an icon. He represents all of us who came from all over. My mother was from Wales, and my father is of German descent. Let freedom ring! 😂😛👍👏🏻🙏🏻

Toby Keith is an American patriot from my home state of Oklahoma! Let me tell you how much he loves his country and it’s a bit of a story but stick with me. I joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 2000. In 2004 my Guard unit was activated to go to Afghanistan. About six months in Toby and Ted Nugent were doing tours to raise troop morale. I was stationed at Camp Phoenix in Kabul. They were supposed to a big show in Bagram Airbase and only do a meet and greet with us. When he got off the bird at Camp Phoenix and met our Brigade Commander he saw our Thunderbird patch and realized we were his fellow Okies. He got on the horn with Bagram and told them they were gonna have to wait another day because he was spending the evening with his Okies. Some of our guys has their families ship over their guitars and amps because they’re all songwriters. We pulled a flatbed truck into the center of our base and Toby and Ted got up their under spotlights and sang all of their greatest hits including this song. After they played til nearly midnight they stayed and took pictures and signed autographs until every last one of us had one without complaint. You don’t realize just how much a simple handshake from someone who didn’t have to come and see us when we’re in the midst of the most difficult time of our lives. And I served in Afghanistan with an entire unit of Brits. The storied Green Howards stood shoulder to shoulder with us in combat. I lost 14 of my brothers in Afghanistan who I couldn’t be more proud of them for paying the ultimate price. People talk about not being able to give up their safety to serve. You’d be surprised. I was 23 in the year 2000 when I joined. I had all but about thirty credits to finish my Bachelors degree. I finished my degree but I was part of the new version of the National Guard where we deployed as often as the active duty guys. I’m a proud American Veteran and proud of the men who served on my left and my right. Thank you for tolerating my story.

It is beautiful seeing our Family over the Pond discover Country Music. You will find, not a lot of breakdown is needed in Country…it’s straight to the point.

Yes, he has a deep, smooth voice and you can understand every word he sings. It makes it easy to listen to. A lot of singers don't have that. It is a manly voice and makes you sit up and pay attention. Luv it!

I'm English and I've been listening to Toby Keith since I was a kid. Toby Keith and Garth Brooks are my top 2 country artists because they are country but also kinda poppy followed by Alan Jackson. If you want lighthearted country listen to Toby Keith "I wanna talk about me" if you want more dramatic listen to Garth Brooks "Thunder Rolls"

Great reaction from someone who not American. He was truly a patriot and someone who did so much for our country. His speaking voice was even more relaxing than his singing voice, you should look up interviews with him in it. It’s absolutely awful we lost him last week.

After 9/11 my oldest son and the neighbor's boy went. The neighbor's son took a bullet, but they both made it back. God Bless America.

Thank you for your words…they made perfect sense! We are all human and right is right no matter what nationality you are! I agree wholeheartedly that a person should be proud of where they’re from and who they are! There was another country singer who said if you don’t stand for something, you stand for nothing at all….

Toby is a terrific singer and this song really did a lot for the military. You did well with all you said. Thank you very much. Oh and there are a lot if requests on some of Toby's songs. They are all really good.

Sadly, we just lost Toby😢 He was a very talented singer with the heart of a true patriot. He will be greatly missed. ❤❤ Back when he wrote this song he had just lost his dad & then not long after 9/11 happened. In the beginning, he only played it for our troops. At one such event he was told he really should share it with all of America. I'm so grateful that he did.

Just found your channel due to this song. My dad was career Army 53-76, retired as Lt.Col. We have a long family history of military service. This is a very special song for me and still brings me to tears.

Toby has some of the greatest comedy songs ever created too. I suggest How Do You LIke Me Now, As Good As I Once Was, or I Wanna Talk About Me. You may also like Red Solo Cup.
