A big THANK YOU to YOU Deborah! It's amazing to see how Toby's music resonated with so many people for so many different reasons. His support for the forces was a rare thing to see, to say the least - but without a doubt will never be overlooked. Thank you for supporting us - we really do appreciate this community - and we're grateful we were able to contribute to Toby's memory in our own way. RIP Toby Keith February 24th, 2024

You are correct, Phil. Toby was close friends with Clint Eastwood. One day, while they were playing golf together, and just chatting. Clint, who is in his 80s, mentioned how he was making a new movie. Toby, being so impressed by Clint's work ethic asked "how do you do it?" Clint responded, "I don't let the old man in." That statement stuck with Toby, and he immediately started writing it as soon as he got home. He then showed it to Clint, who loved it, and put it in his movie "The Mule.". Rip Mr Keith, thank you for everything you accomplished in your short time with us! 😇🙏💔

The lady in white was his wife. During the awards show, Blake Shelton presented Keith with the country music icon award, honoring him for his work as a musician, humanitarian and entrepreneur. "Bet you thought you'd never see me in skinny jeans," Keith quipped in his acceptance speech. "I want to thank the almighty for allowing me to be here tonight.

Toby went through five surgeries, chemo, radiation and experimental treatments. He fought hard but said he had wrapped his mind around it all no matter what happened. He did ELEVEN USO tours for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Two weeks each year for eleven years. Those were done for FREE! He also opened the OK Corral Children’s Cancer treatment center in Oklahoma City long before he got cancer himself.

As a cancer survivor, i completely relate to this song. He had already made the decision to stop chemo. I would NEVER go through chemo again - it's horrible, harder to battle than cancer, and with so much more horrible medical issues to your body than chemo and radiation are hell. It's harder than cancer itself. If I was diagnosed again, I would not go through that hell again. Cheno and radiation are hell - so much harder than cancer. I'll never do it again REST IN PEACE Toby Keith. ❤

This song tears me up! My brother battled cancer for three years, doing radiation, chemo and immunotherapy. He was 72 when they found the cancer. Through it all and losing so much weight he still played golf with his friends, he went deer hunting, fishing and enjoyed his two little granddaughters. Two months before he died he killed a huge deer. He was weak and so thin but he fought with all his might. It's been a year, in fact his memorial service was a year ago today. So this one hits hard because he tried not to let the old man in. Love you guys!!

Toby was ONLY 62 years old! I'm older than he was by a few years. I was absolutely heartbroken when I heard of his passing. I always listened to his music! For a long time now. Toby had fought a good fight! ❤️🤍💙 The very disease he'd fought himself...along the way he had opened a Cancer Facility where young children could go to get the help they needed! It was all done up in a Cowboy Western Style! He also visited often. Held the little children! Just that act alone will take Toby straight to The Celestial Kingdom! ❤️🤍💙 He'd fought to the bitter end with exactly what he was helping those little children with! Unbelievable!! May you RIP Toby & God bless his Beautiful Wife/Children/Grandchildren/Friends & all others! ❤ One thing I truly believe is God does not take you home until it's your time. Toby's time on the earth was finished. Just look at all he'd done! Those he'd helped more than we'll all ever know. ❤️🤍💙 ANOTHER Legend gone home! ❤️🤍💙 I will miss you Toby! 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷 Did you notice how he teared up while singing when he looked at his wife? He could see her crying too! 🥹 And saying his final goodbye to all those there that night!! WOW!

Toby and Clint met at a Golf Tournament. He told Toby that was fixing to film a new movie. Toby said you're gonna dedicate 3 months of your life to shooting a movie? How do you do it? (Referring to Clint's age). ClintSaif, I get up every day, and don't let the OLD Man in...Toby said I'm gonna write this damn thing right now. It took him 3 days to crank it out! ❤

He wrote this song a few years before his diagnosis. Willie Nelson recorded it and another artist but never did much when Toby recorded it.....until now. Clint Eastwood was 88 when he produced and acted in the movie The Mule and he put this song at the end of the movie. Clint is now 93. I know Toby's death hit him hard. GOD bless both of them and their families. Prayers and comfort for Tobys family. ❤🙏

Just saw an interview with Toby Keith where he tells the woman interviewing him how he came to write this song "Don't Let The Old Man In". He wrote this song for Clint Eastwood. He was on the golf course & Clint was his partner when someone asked Clint how old he was. Clint said "88" Clint's birthday was coming up on that Monday. Toby asked him what he was going to do to celebrate his birthday, Clint said he was going to Georgia to shoot a movie called "The Mule" Toby was thinking "wow" he is 88 & he was going to be shooting a movie for many months. He asked Clint "What keeps you going?" Clint responds by saying "I get up everyday, I don't lay around, I go outside, I don't let that old man in." That was the song Toby wrote for Clint using the words Clint had said "I don't let that old man in". Sounds just what you would imagine Clint would say & those few words gave Toby the title to his song. In a recent interview Toby did while he was battling cancer, he speaks on how he got his start & how he writes his songs. He explained how that song came to be and who he wrote it for. The song was not about Toby & his illness because he wrote it before he got sick. He wrote it for Clint who was just going to start shooting the movie "The Mule" which came out in December 2018. Clint uses that song in the movie but Toby wrote it before the movie was done so Clint used it in the movie, Toby said in the interview. I will miss you Toby. Rest in Peace in God's Light.

To me, the title of this song has developed a dual meaning to me since Toby's battle with cancer and especially since his passing. Initially, the "old man" to me was simply age and not letting that number limit and determine your ability. Now, to me that "old man" that he is speaking about not letting in is also death.

You were talking about how different he looks, and I agree with you, it’s almost shocking. 😢 To update you on how much weight that he lost, they said he was 260 pounds before he had cancer, and when he died, he was 130! He literally lost half his weight. He was a legend and we are going to miss him so much. I don’t usually shed tears for someone I’ve never met, but this one hit me very hard in the heart. Rest in peace Toby.

It was so sad to see how things and weak he looked in this video I do believe that this was his last live performance, so sad to see the effects of this terrible disease has on the human body he was such a big man in body and life and as he says in the song that his body is weathered and worn, and what a great line in the song (HOW OLD WOULD YOU BE IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THE DAY YOU WERE BORN) What a great line. R.I.P. TOBY, Prayers and best wishes to the family 🙏🙏🙏🥺🥺 "OKIES FOREVER"

Toby asked Clint how he kept going and Clint said "Don't Let The Old Man In" and Toby wrote that song from what Clint said.

clint i believe is 94, thanks for the reactions, Toby Keith was an amazing person, singer, song writer, husband, father, grandfather and just all around incredible man, he will be missed and mourned by millions of people around the world, he talk in an interview about even though he loved to sing and perform and all of the recognition meant a lot to him, the Song Writers Guild award meant the most to him
