I would try to go to a soccer game, my personal suggestion would be a Botafogo match in Nilton Santos Stadium or a classic match at Maracanã, either way, I think you would enjoy.

Hi guys. You should definitely go to a soccer match. I suggest Vasco da Gama Stadium (São Januário), the oldest stadium of Rio de Janeiro. You'd feel the true experience of a Brazilian game in Brazil. This is the last year of São Januário before remodeling, so it would be a great experience. And of course, a classic match in Maracanã is always a cool experience.

When I first traveled to Europe I was stumped to learn people rarely do sports at the beach. Football, volleyball and footvolley (the mixture of the two) are Brazilian beach staple activities. One of my big memories going to the beach with my family is of my dad and I walking up and down the beach, choosing one of the many, many beach football games being played and asking to join, one player on either side (which people were always cool with).

Very cool!!. We Brazilians are very happy when you like our country. Next time, you should visit The lake's regions or 'região dos lagos' in portuguese. There are very beautiful beachs. Some people call it the brazilian caribbean. It's a little far from Rio de Janeiro's city center, but it's amazing. The most visited places are Arraial do Cabo and Cabo Frio. Beautiful places.

Look for the cities of Ouro Preto - MG, Tiradentes - MG, São João Del-Rei - MG, Pico da Bandeira - MG and Ibitipoca - MG. They are historical cities with typical food, museums and many breathtaking landscapes. They are cities in the interior that are a little calmer in comparison to Rio, safer and with the "known" cities of the most friendly and welcoming people.

The "blocos" actually have a callendar, they need to be submited and approved by the city hall, there are a few of small illegal ones that people arrange by internet and simply pop up, but it usually isn´t in the South Zone. They need to be approved so they don´t block traffic during work hours, don´t coincide days or even to provide the structure like policemen and toilets depending on the size of the block (Cordão da Bola Preta is HUGE!)

Latin America, Brazil specifically, and Rio even more specifically is not for all "everyone". It can be scary and tricky for a lot of people. But if you are a young smart like you are, it's probably one the best places in the world to visit.

SOUTHEAST Rio de Janeiro is our postcard, but there are better places. The center of Rio has a great nightlife. The interior of Rio is beautiful, with magnificent beaches in: Arraial do Cabo Buzios Paraty (Historical Center) São Paulo - Selva de Pedra and culture, nightlife. Minas Gerais - Best Food, Waterfalls, Has Lots of Stories and Trails. North East. The best, most paradisiacal beaches in the Northeast Maceió, Pernambuco. Recife, Bahia Etc. Party people, delicious food, lots of culture and very hospitable people. South when you look Clean City, security, beaches, Vinnhedos, mountains and trails. Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. I know little more about the Center West and North. I have plans to explore my Brazil. Where each state has its unique cultures and beauties. Obrigada pela Visita ❤❤

Tips from a Brazilian who has been to Rio de Janeiro several times: don't leave the tourist area. Avoid going out walking at night. Prefer to take an Uber and get off exactly at the location you are going to. Avoid carrying a cell phone in your hand, especially your iPhone. Don't accept drinks from strangers and don't take them to your hotel room even if they seem nice. I love Rio. It’s such a beautiful city!

The best months to visit Rio is may.. june... july .....August... ... Because Go to Rio on summer (december, junuary, february) is really crazy.. and hot ... of course!!!

In June and july is sometimes too cool and tends to be rainy, might ruin beach experience, even more so because sea water in Rio is really cold so we need the intense heat to counter it when going to the beach for a swim.

@@WyattandReyka you're probably right. I remember now. I once got sunburns during the millennium NYE, back in 1999. May be humid too. It's not humid in Sao Paulo, since it's high and not near the sea.
