When he sang this live, the “I do” scream between the second and third chorus was so insanely powerful and full of emotion. Such an incredible talent we lost way too soon
@ShawnsLoop
@ShawnsLoop 6 ай бұрын
For yourself, you have to watch the live version of this song that Chester sang on Jimmy Kimmel. While the song was originally about losing a friend to cancer, Chester dedicated the song to Chris Cornell when he committed suicide. Chester and Chris were incredibly close and the loss hit him extremely hard. And sadly, Chester committed suicide only a month later, in the exact same manner that Chris had. A tragic loss for their families, and for the world at large. But the live performance is raw. Chester breaks down part way through. But the big difference is the second bridge. On the studio version, or the version you reacted too, the scream of "I DO!!!!" is low in the mix. Most people don't even notice it. But in the live version, Chester belts it, screaming at the top of his lungs, and the pain and anger and longing in his voice for his lost friend, shatters my heart every time I hear it. It's probably the most moving musical moment I've ever seen in all my years. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJfYq3mIqKpnp7c

My son is called Chester and my first was always going to be called that even before Chesters passing, he has inspired me throughout my life since I can remember! My first boy was born on the 21st of july which is the day after his anniversary but I'm from the UK and the time difference would of made his death on the 21st in the UK. He was even 8 days late which is my favourite number and the first number my son ever said was 8, he couldn't stop saying it! To anyone else out there who is struggling please reach out, it doesn't matter who you reach out to but please get the help you need! No one should ever fight mental health alone, we have to stick together like how linkin parks song bought their amazing fan base behind them

"In the kitchen one more chair than you need." That's a potent line everyone has relatives who reach an old age and pass away eventually. Through time, we lose people and slowly we see less and less of our relatives due to them passing leaving more and more empty spaces around the table.

This one and Ren's "Suicide" have done a lot of heavy lifting for me and my mortality. They are among a handful of anchors that have kept me from taking my final steps. But, the first 'one song' from LP that got me was "Iridescent" off of A Thousand Suns. I'd been listening to them from their first break out, but never quite got it until my own depression came on. On that note, you should also check out Mike's solo piece "What The Words Meant", written in the aftermath of Chester's passing

No matter how many times you hear this song, it hits the heartstrings harder. #LinkinPark we are with you still. Chester lives in our hearts. Keep pushing through this dark time, hold one another closer, and be there for one another.

The first time I heard Linken Park it was the Hybrid Theory album and the somg In the End really connected with me. Now two and a half decades later this song has more meaning for me. Thankyou for your explanation of this song, it gave me a new light on how I was feeling 🙂

Knowing how touching and beautiful this song is, I tried to play it for someone once. But they actually couldn’t listen to it. They turned it off. Because they lost a sibling to cancer. And it hit their heart too hard.

I broke down seeing this video when it first released, I definitely wasn't ready for it. Easier To Run by Linkin Park was that song that made me fall so madly in love with the band, I have a sealed copy of both Meteora and Meteora20 because that is the album that defined my adolescence. ❤️

Thanks for being brave and showing your emotions like that Ive been struggling with loneliness/depression for a long time haven't even celebrated xmas in like 3 years... and Linkin Park really helped me to realize im not the only one struggling with these issues it's just so sad to see that the one man that showed me is now no longer here because of these reasons..

Just 3 days before 2024, the first Brazilian KZbinr I've followed for 13 years passed away in the exact same way as Chester, after a massive cancelation campaign against him. He was also a huge Linkin Park fan and was involved in anti-suicide mental health campaigns. His passing is even more heartbreaking because of this context. I just can't listen to this song anymore without crying my eyes out. It feels like in this battle, depression is winning big time.
