Chris Cornell was in Sound Garden, Audio Slave, Temple of the Dogs and solo. He had a roommate named Andy who was the Singer for Mother Lovebone. Andy died from an overdose. The band replaced Andy with Eddie Vedder and they changed the name of the band to Pearl Jam. Chris wrote an album worth of songs, some about Andy and recorded the album with the surviving members of Mother Lovebone and their new singer Eddie Vedder. They called themselves Temple of the Dogs. You have to listen to Hunger Strike. Chris and Eddie's voices together is out of this world.

The Grunge sound was a backlash to Reaganomics and the fake 80s. TV showed uplifting nonsense, while 1/2 the population including Chris Cornell From Seattle, were poor and destitute! There 2nd hand clothes ,sweats with holes and flannel shirts became a freaking style! Chris Cornell was Diagnosed with Bipolar, and clinical depression. So his lyrics really tell you what he was going through. Heroin was also A very important factor. Interesting enough they all would say Heroin was more a symptom then the problem! Like Prince, Chris was being heavily medicated by a physician during on and off lapses with Recovery. He was on a medication with a side effect of thoughts of suicide if over taken. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT CHRIS REALLY FELT WHEN HE TOOK HIS LIFE! But this song tells you decades earlier he was outshined.
