The best explanation is on The Fairy Voice Mother's reaction to this song. Huge talent and years of work learning the technique, called "false cord growls." Followup with their song Perennial live at Wacken to see what they can do on stage. I came away from seeing them live even more impressed than after just watching their videos. Tatiana is the singer, the guys are Eugene on bass, Roman on guitar, and Vlad on drums. If you've played Cyberpunk 2077, the quest Pisces was named after this song cuz of the twist heh. Subbed. Cheers!

Hahahaha nice reaction young lady. Jinjer is of course the band, Tatiana (vocals), Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad drums. They are Ukrainian and one of the best and talented bands around currently, at least in my opinion. The thing with Jinjer is no two songs sound alike, each one is different, but all of them are amazing. I'm going to suggest reacting to Perennial live at Wacken open air 2019 as a possible future Jinjer reaction, you'll be amazed again. Pisces is always the first reaction video most reactors are suggested to do when it comes to Jinjer because of the shock value, it's also the first song many new reactors do when they're starting up thier channel, so your friend did you a favor by suggesting this as your first reaction LOL. All kidding aside, great reaction, good luck with your new channel, and as always, stay Metal. 😊😊😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶

🔥Welcome to Jinjer, Biss! I just found your channel, great reaction, subbed! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and beautiful growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces last year I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wakeup alarm for the past year or so and I still love it more every time I hear it). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the very long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.” The four current members have essentially no musical training except for Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. They've been a tour heavy band, on the road almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020, hard work that has made them fantastic live and they make it look effortless. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, first four videos are out for Vortex, Mediator, Wallflower and Disclosure! Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see former Jinjer guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, on guitar in older Jinjer videos, and acting as an interrogator in their latest video, Disclosure! One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines her beautiful growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: hope you'll keep trying more Jinjer and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

Hi Biss. I've loved your 2 Jinjer reactions so far. I've been a Jinjer fan for a few years and finally got to see them live (Atlanta, Georgia, USA) in early December 2021. They were magnificent. If you want to see another female vocalist who is fantastic leading a metal band, I strongly recommend you react to the song "Hexenhammer" by a Swiss band called Burning Witches. I predict you'll love it!! Keep up the good work!

Since you asked, I'll explain how her growling works. It's a technique that instead of using your vocal chords you use your false chords. That's why she's able to switch easily between growling and her regular singing voice without any damage to the vocal chords. Bear in mind however this is not a technique that's easy to master and that Tatiana is 100% self-taugh in this particular technique, She did have a few singing lessons as a child, but nothing that would cover this. If you want to try an understand a bit more of how this works, I suggest you watch the video of The Fairy Godmother where she goes into detail on the technique itself and even does a quick demonstration. Link's below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4i4hqWahsudpJo&ab_channel=TheFairyVoiceMother

@@BisscuteReacts You're welcome. Indeed she's very talented, but don't overlook the rest of the band. Each of them is extremely talented at their own instrument and that's why Tatiana is able to shine the way she shines. Anyway, since the rest of the Jinjer army is already pointing you out with following songs to react, I'll suggest something else. I'd recommend you to check out Tool. They're one of the most influential rock/metal bands of the last 30 years. I'd recommend you to start with the live version at Reading Festival in 1993 of "Sober".

Hey Biss, I'm a new subscriber and former musical theater & rock vocalist. This is known as a false-fold technique when the false folds of the vocal chords are engaged. These sit just above the actual vocal chords and create this "growl". If you search the "Scream Queen" Melissa Cross, she's probably the best known vocal coach teaching this technique.

Just found your channel today. So a lot of the bands you like, I like. I’m 60 and still love playing my drums and learning new song’s. I sang in a hardcore band last century🙃Jinjer loved them from the beginning. The musicianship is outstanding. Singing like Taitiana is challenging. A lot of work to keep your vocals intact. Image singing Hardcore then having moments of singing with your full range. The reverse of what Taitiana is doing here.

"Someone explain to me how does she do it" Short answer: Tatiana is a vocal beast and goddess Longer answer: She uses true vocal folds for her angelic voice and uses false vocal folds for the growl/scream (whatever you want to call it). She can switch between them so seamlessly because her technique is absolutely brilliant. Her growls do no damage to her true vocal folds. Listen to Jinjer live - perennial, whos gonna be the one, Vortex. She does it all the time.

I enjoyed your reaction to my favourite band's most well-known track. Subbed. How is it done? Try throwing your head back and roaring like a lion. Concentrate on what's going on in your throat. You are making sound but you are not using your vocal cords. Lions make a fantastic sound but do not sing, to my knowledge. Some humans have learned how to control the growl but very few have mastered it. Jinjer's vocalist, Tatiana, has it all - a sweet and flexible singing voice, powerful mix/belting, multiple types of rich extreme vocals, lots of range. Best of all she has good musical taste and chooses how to vocalise very cleverly. The other members of the band are very skilful but most viewers are too busy being blown away by Tatiana to notice.

Fantastic reaction Biss, there's really no better group or song to start a channel with than Pisces by Jinjer. I'm not a huge fan of metal, especially anything with growling, but Jinjer is different & has become one of my favorite bands no matter the genre. My sweet spot is hard rock, so if you could please do your new channel a favor and react to the best hard rock band I've seen in almost 30yrs would be greatly appreciated. The band is BAND-MAID, and they're fantastic!! A good first listen is always the live performance of their song Domination. I normally don't subscribe until afterwards, but since your channel is new I will now in anticipation of your reaction. Thank you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k here is the link from their official KZbin channel.

Kudos for a well made first video. What a song to start the channel. 😜 May I ask if you record, edit/cut, and upload all by yourself? It looks already quite professional and I saw later videos in your channel, where you added some nice details like a short outro, etc.

If you want to know more about the vocal techniques, I can only recommend you "The Charismatic Voice" channel. Many breakdowns of vocal prowesses and analyses, as well as first reactions. You'll like it I'm sure

Another great band/singer to react to is Spiritbox (Courtney LaPlante) who is similar in how she can go from angel to demon. And she has some great videos of just her singing the songs.

Checking the videos you've reacted to, it looks like you trend toward the harder side of things. Now, as a reactor, you'll eventually have to react to Rush. Most people start with Tom Sawyer, however, if you want to stay in a "harder" lane, at least for Rush, start with Far Cry. Its from later in their career. The song, "Vapor Trails" is also from their "harder" period. Nothing but props to people getting off their butts and following their dreams on KZbin! Keep at it! There is literally no end to the content.

Good song for a first reaction. Sort of jumping in the deep end of the pool.

Tetiana Shmalyuk has been singing in 8 different bands since she was 15 years old. She has said that it was not easy to learn to growl, It was a hard work. Tetiana has made excellent lyrics to this song "Pisces" - you should find the lyrics of this song here in youtube or to google them in internet. Tetiana was born in 1987, the year of Cat or Rabbit according to the Chinese lunar calendar, but her Zodiac sign is PISCES. As a matter of fact Tetiana is singing about herself, describing the character of a Pisces personality, revealing the Pisces personality, and a Pisces person psychological features and attitude to the life.

This never gets old... A few hints, turn off auto volume, the song gets less volume when you talk. Whet you stop a video, rewind a few seconds. I recommend "Judgement and Punishment One Take", just her, no vocal enhancements at all.
