Synchronicity. The definition of everything INCLUDES nothing, the definition of nothing EXCLUDES everything. Are we everything, nothing, anything or something?

Sting was into the writings of psychologist Carl Jung at the time, who came up with the term synchronicity for a hidden connection between seemingly unrelated events.

Moral of this song - we're all connected. Tons of energy in this song, love it! All this sound, from only 3 people. When they do it live, they get a lot of call and response going at the end. It's funny because it's got an island vibe, but it's a lot faster and harder than you would expect an island vibe to have. Everybody in the band has a big ol' brain and a lot of musical talent! I think the two big Police songs you have left are "Roxanne" and "Don't Stand So Close to Me".

Sting (the lead vocalist and the bassist) is one of the great song writers of the last 50 years. He has a slew of post-Police music that you oughta check out.

Stewart Copland will always say: I taught Sting, and Sting grew past me and became a genius. Stewart also stated that the title Sting loves most is Songwriter above all others. I found that response odd, considering Stewart does the scores of movies, like Me At Work with Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen & Keith David.

@dpall387 ай бұрын
I don’t know about accidentally. Their first hit was Roxanne off their first album. All three musicians where incredible. They took the punk scene by storm. Plus Sting was a master songwriter. That is why they ruled the early 80s.

IIRC the lead singer Sting's wife was interviewed about him and the band at around this time and she revealed that he was kind of obsessed with studying the works of noted psychologist Carl Jung at this period. He was a contemporary and counter-point to the other big psychologist of the day, Sigmund Freud. Jung had this concept of "archetypes" among other elements and this album and particularly this song referred to his research and findings about the human mind and experiences. "Synchronicity" as actually a concept that was coined by Jung in his time, and this album, in part, was an artistic expression of the man's theories. Pretty cool what can provoke amazing art.
@rtwbikerider5 ай бұрын
Piggybacking on your remark, Synchronicity 1 is sort of an explanation of Jung’s concept, where Synchronicity 2 is an example of the concept in action. I don’t think that the two songs share anything musically. Still, Britt should listen to Synchronicity 2 with the lyrics up. Enjoy.

I get from the music and the words that no matter how chaotic things get, eventually, we reach synchronicity. Even in our troubling times, if you look for it, you can find the harmony. You just have to look for it and be open to it. There's just too much noise now. I think that was Jesus's message that there is chaos, but you can find harmony get in sync...
@lunadyana33307 ай бұрын
Synchronicity is "being on time," which has nothing to do with clocks. It means paying attention to and listening to cryptic signs and messages so as to find yourself in exactly the place you need to be, exactly when you need to be, so as to meet who you need to so as to end up on exactly the path where angels abound, fortune drives experience and everything works out t to fulfill everyone's true purpose

I still get upset when hearing this song. I had tickets to see this tour. When a last-minute band competition opened up and the band conductor accepted the invite. Several us in the band had tickets. So the band director stated. The Police will ve touring for decades, and HS events won't. Later that year the Police broke up. I'm still pissed off.

The psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung #CGJung defined synchronicity (ancient Greek σύν syn, German 'with, together' and χρόνος chronos 'time') as temporally correlated events that are not linked by a causal relationship (i.e. are acausal), but are perceived and interpreted as connected and related to each other

I'll tell you of my facing the Jungian collective unconsciousness. The implications have terrified me since 1982. Scholastic chess tournament. I played the Mises scotch opening. In the 1890s the Scotch was a valid opening but in the 1900's it was solved. In the teens the Mises variation was a series of traps that by the 20s were all solved. By 1982, no one would remember it - especial not the 8th grader I faced because his pricipal screwed up and put them against the high schools. I talked to him after. He almost stepped in EVERY trap but at the last second would try some crazy moves that happened to be right. Call it God (as if God wastes his time with high school chess) or Jungian collective unconscious and synchronicity, but there was no way that could happen without some weird shit. Take it from a chess player, something weird is going on.
