Tim-Oh-Thee - Pree-Sent - same rules of pronunciation lmao I have a friend who used to aggressively tell me I was mispronouncing NZ place-names - until we had a laugh at this... then he started going silent when the Sub loses his temper - looks at me "do we do that to you guys?", I could only laugh and say "yup, its normal for this reaction" lol He now makes attempts at pronunciation, and never berates or ridicules us for "mispronunciation" of our words - WINNA!!

You guys missed the big joke at the end. When the teacher called out Teemothay and the single black kid in the room said, "preesant," it was funny on two levels. 1) being the black kid, the writers were making the joke that his parents actually DID name him Teemothay. So being the one black kid in class, he was the only who actually did have an uncommon pronounciation of a common name. And, 2) they further dug into that stereotype by having the kid even talk like the teacher and mess up the word present by emphasizing the 2nd syllable instead of the first and pronouncing the first syllable with a hard "e" (like reed) instead of a soft "e" like (red).

The sub wasn't sure about my truthfulness...I had to think on the fly and claim my dad had been a soldier stationed there, and I was born over seas... aahh....the memories
