Brazilian Fans here were simply nuts, cuz Rush has never been to Brazil before. They even sang hours before the show. Besides: What other band had an audience singin to an instrumental song? This crowd has Babymetal level of energy! Greets from the crazy old German- keep on rockin!

YYZ is the Toronto Airport identification code. At the beginning of the song they are playing the Morse Code for YYZ. Alex Lifeson the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto. The code came on and it stuck in Neil and Geddy's head. They put together their part of the song and Alex filled in his part later. The guys were always happy to see YYZ on their luggage as it meant they were heading home. Cheers

Music Producer : What Time Signature Will You Be Using? RUSH : All Of Them
@lindaward53762 жыл бұрын
Wolf Hunterz: What time signature was that? Rush: All of them! The composition of YYZ was meant to represent the hustle and bustle of moving through a busy airport, and the part where Geddy is playing the keyboards was meant to represent a brief pause to reunite with family and friends before going right back to the hustle and bustle. Great reaction; looking forward to more Rush! 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
@JohnBrooking4 Жыл бұрын
Time signature: It can actually be counted in 5/4, if you really want to. Counting the dashes as quarter notes and the dots as eighth notes, with the quarter note getting the beat, one YYZ sequence fits exactly in 10 beats.

Or if you’d rather count each letter as its own measure, they would be 7/8 7/8 6/8.

Rush had never been to Brazil before and they had no idea that they had people that love them down there. After the concert they asked Geddy Why they’ve never played there before? His response was, because we’re stupid!

YYZ is the morse code for the Toronto Airport, their home airport. The intro was the morse cute for the letters YYZ. When the band saw the YYZ they knew they were finally going home. They wet playing 200+ shows a year and it was good to be going home.

Fun fact of the day... This start off as a jam just for Neil (drums) and Getty (bass). Alex (guitar) heard them playing and loved it and wanted in. That is why during the "stop" solo's in the beginning section of the song is only for bass and drums!!!

I think the concert with the chanting you're thinking of might be Megadeth in some South American country (Argentina?), where the crowd had taken the rhythm of an instrumental part of the chorus and used it to create a chant of Megadeth's name.

YYZ is only the identification code for the international airport in Toronto. Rush may never have existed , if not for the man the airport is named in honor of. Lester B Pearson transformed Canada into the place Neil Peart, Aleksandar Zivojinovic, and Gary Lee Weinrib longed to return to.

You guys completely ignored the guitar. When I was a kid I wanted to be a musician. I tried drums, but was never going to be as good as Peart. I tried bass but was never going to be as good as Lee. I decided to go with guitar- because Lifeson's playing seemed simpler. I was wrong. The dude is a monster. And 42 years later I can still play most of their catalog. And all of everyone else's.

It's called classic progressive rock something that you two are not conditioned to listen to that's why you're reacting the way you are because you're not used to it. The crowd are being too loud and because of that no one can hear all the intricacies that's in this instrumental and that is what great classic progressive has. The crowd seems to be full of mostly sheeple who only like and know the great music (songs) because that's what they've heard before but not because they understand how music theory works at least not by ear. Now you two can go back and listen to your repetitive redundant robotic beats called Crap!💩....oops! sorry rap, you know that meandering zombie noise that sounds like the ticking of a clock played by lunatics using drum machines and sequencers that dumbs you down and gives you a short attention span.😂
