The "drive-in" movie they were watching on their laptop in their back yard was the classic giant ant movie "Them!" from 1954. I grew up on that movie watching it on the late show. 1950's science fiction cheese at its finest! You'd love it! (Probably not!)

For the CORE MCU story the remaining viewing order is: - Captain Marvel - Endgame - Spider-Man: Far From Home - WandaVision - The Falcon & The Winter Soldier - Loki - Black Widow - What If?... - Shang-Chi & The Legend Of The Ten Rings UNRELEASED (rough viewing order): - The Eternals - Hawkeye - Spider-Man: No Way Home - Ms. Marvel (supposedly coming out this year) Other MCU shows outside the core story: - Daredevil (HIGHLY recommended) - Jessica Jones (HIGHLY recommended) - Punisher (Watch AFTER Daredevil Season 2) - Luke Cage - Iron Fist - The Defenders (watch AFTER Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) - Agent Carter (recommended) - Cloak & Dagger - Runaways - Agents Of SHIELD

This is actually one of my favorite movies, for all sorts of reasons. Michael Douglas has indicated a desire to do an Ant Man prequel about him, using the same d-aging technology. He's so great in this I can support it, although I don't think it'll ever happen. He's so great because Hank Pym is a bit of an asshole, and he portrays this perfectly while still making him likable.
@IH8YH
@IH8YH 3 жыл бұрын
even if this was interesting, i would have the same cautiousness about the action scenes as i have with for example De Niro and Pesci in The Irishman.... in the de-aged scenes you can see them move and posture like old men and its just weird! also having Michael Douglas do physical stuff (even if limited due to stunt doubles) it would still be dangerous... just look at Harrison Ford. he got injured on the set of Star Wars 7 and now again while filming the new Indiana Jones... Old People are brittle....
@barkingmonkee
@barkingmonkee 3 жыл бұрын
I agree it's unlikely, but as long as we're daydreaming - I don't want to give away any spoilers but since a Hank Pym prequel would probably be set during the cold war or shortly after there's a certain 'Black Widow' character I think it would be cool to see him crossing paths with... Also, since Marvel has the X-Men rights now a Hank Pym era prequel might be an interesting way to introduce a key character or two.

The shows should definitely be after Spider-Man Far From Home. Black Widow can be slotted in between the shows just about anywhere, but I think you will be fine if you stick to release order. You are so close to getting caught up, it's so exciting. As strange as it sounds there really is a difference watching it when it's still "new" and after it has been out for a while. I almost regret that she's nearly caught up b/c I enjoy the rxns so much. Two thoughts: - Stan Lee's comment about the 60s was ironic since that's when he, Ditko & Kirby came up with so many of the classic Marvel characters. - One of the several benefits of watching in release order is the trend by the studio to follow up heavy material with lighter/heartwarming fare. Its almost like the execs knew people would be binge-watching them later.

in the beginning of first ANT-MAN there was this whole hoopla about it because originally EDGAR WRIGHT was writing it and was supposed to direct it too, which was really exciting because of his previous work (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim etc) and when he left the movie over creative differences everyone was upset and wanted Marvel to get him back.... campaigns were started etc.... Then Peyton Reed was tapped to rewrite the script and direct the movie as well and i actually am very damn happy that he got to do the first and this one too because they are damn great and among my favorite MCU movies! the humor is just perfect and i doubt Edgar Wright would have done a better job tbh. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place during the course of the movies and is often directly impacted by what happens in the film. It picks up right after the first Avengers film and is probably the best of the Marvel series. Wandavision and Loki and Falcon and the Winter Soldier all take place after endgame as a bridge between the movie phases. What If is a theoretical series that isn't really fitting anywhere into the timeline and has to do with hypothetical scenarios different in each episode but all within the Marvel universe.

To answer your question, you can definitely wait until later for the MCU television shows. Off the top of my head, they all take place either directly or a year or so after "Endgame" and each one calls back to the events of "Endgame" and prior. I think you'll really like those shows, especially "WandaVision" and "LOKI." "Falcon and the Winter Solider" is really good, but it was filming during the pandemic and you can tell that they had to go back and re-film/rewrite a TON of stuff. Made it more choppy. But long story short, you can wait until after "Endgame" or all of them.

All three were filmed during the pandemic, but Falcon & The Winter Soldier was affected worse because it originally had an actual story about a fictional pandemic (it was written before Covid) that they had to remove for obvious reasons, and it leaves the antagonists as much more poorly developed characters than intended.

Most of this took place like a week before Infinity War. That 50s movie Scott, Hope, and Cassie were watching is called THEM! Pretty good film. Recommend watching it; not necessary to do a reaction video

Hi Mary!! Did you recognize Ava (Ghost) from Game of Thrones and/or Harry Potter? She played the wildling Osha in GoT that we all loved. Your take on Natalia Tena's facial expressions was right on, she is very good at it.

Honestly the Antman franchise is perhaps my personal guilty pleasure fav of the MCU. They aren't the best directed or .oat epic but they are so funny with such great family wholesomeness

Janet Pym nee Van Dyne, the Original Wasp...one of my few regrets about the way the MCU ended up is that she (and Hank) were not original Avengers as in the comics. Really after Captain America the Wasp has the most significant impact on the Avengers of any character in Marvel Comics.

The elder Ant-Man (Hank Pym) and Wasp (Janet van Dyne) are actually 2 of the original founding Avengers in the comics, along with the Hulk, Iron Man and I think Thor (Captain America came shortly after). Ant-Man has, I think, left and rejoined the Avengers several times over the decades, but the Wasp -- Janet -- was actually pretty much a mainstay: One of the most consistent members of the Avengers, their sometime leader I think, and one of the few and most prominent early female Marvel superheroes. So a lot of comic book fans were pretty bummed that Janet was seemingly killed off in the first movie after little more than a cameo. It's great that this movie reversed that (which probably was the plan all along), but it's still a little sad that she hasn't been more prominent in the MCU -- the Avengers could use a larger female presence, for sure.

WandaVision is definitely after Endgame. The order of recent releases is: Captain Marvel (movie) Avengers: Endgame (movie) Spider-Man: Far From Home (movie) WandaVision (tv) Falcon and Winter Soldier (tv) Loki (tv) Black Widow (movie) And then the Shang-Chi movie and the What If? tv series are out at the same time (right now), but neither seems to presuppose the other. You should really watch the "All Hail the King" OneShot before Shang-Chi, though. It's basically a bridge between Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi. You'll be puzzled by some stuff in Shang-Chi if you haven't seen "All Hail the King." Of course you should really watch all the OneShots. They're short, you could easily react to them all in one video.

The Disney Plus TV shows should all be started after Endgame at least. You could wait until after Spiderman but it doesn't matter. However their are other Marvel TV shows that are (loosely in some cases) part of the MCU that you can watch anytime you wish without any spoilers. They include 1) Agent Carter (2 seasons) 2) Agents of Shield (7 seasons). Those two are spawned out of the movies though not as tightly coupled as the movies are to each other but you will see characters you know from the movies plus many new ones. There are also the Marvel Netflix series they make reference to the events of the first Avengers movie as the setting is mostly New York City but are unofficial MCU shows. Though there are rumors that some of these characters are going to be brought officially into the MCU played by the same actors from the show. They are 1) Daredevil (3 seasons) 2) Jessica Jones (3 seasons) 3) Luke Cage (2 seasons) 4) Iron Fist (2 Seasons) 5)The Punisher (2 seasons) and 6) The Defenders (1 Season.). The Netflix show are mostly very good. The watch order can be a little tricky. Each show had it's own 13 episode season but there is overlap in the the next show that was released season. Daredevil season 1 is the first show, then Jessica Jones season 1, then Luke Cage S1, then Iron Fist S1 and so on. The Punisher and Defenders take place in the middle of the other shows seasons. So if you watch watch one season at a time of each show that were released in the same year. I'm sure there is a watch order list out there somewhere. This is one other show that was on network TV but it was kind of a flop and was cancelled before the first season was done.
