Coraline is such a great movie but Laika(the animation studio) has another movie that is such an underrated gem called ParaNorman. Its also a spooky movie with great humour and a wonderful story and its, honestly, one of my favourite Halloween movies ever!

There are SO many easter eggs in this movie, there is a woman on Tiktok who made over 50 videos on that! It is confirmed that every single detail was placed on purpose. I was so stunned by how many things I actually missed and would never even have noticed. The real story is actually scarier so they had to leave a lot of it out or change it. Side note: Her hair is actually brown :) she didn't want to move so her parents let her dye her hair blue as a compromise. Another side note: the two old ladies are a lesbian couple✨️

the scariest part of this movie is, for me, when the other mother grows into her ugly, nasty self, and when she's screaming "don't leave me don't leave me" as the door slams towards coraline. absolutely horrifying!!
@needyverse9 ай бұрын
Coraline's mother was just in a huge car accident, has a collar on her neck for the injury, and has a massive writer's deadline for a job that is the difference between the parents' keeping their new home and getting kicked out because they lost their jobs. She's allowed to be a bit snappy and tired.

"You realize you're walking right into her trap." "I have to go back. They are my parents." "Challenge her, then. She may not play fair, but she won't refuse. She's got a THING for games." The perfect Halloween classic. Fun Fact: Neil Gaiman has said that out of all the film and television adaptations of his books, Coraline (2009) is his favorite. Lost In Adaptation Fact: The character Wybie Lovat (Robert Bailey Jr.) is not in Neil Gaiman's novel. He was created so Coraline (Dakota Fanning) would not have to talk to herself and so she would have a friend her own age. Historical Fact: Mr. Bobinsky (Ian McShane) is wearing the Hero Of The Soviet Union for service at the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster on April 26, 1986. Which reads on the front "Participant In The Clean-up Campaign" and the "4A3C" is a "Chernobilskaya Nuclear Power Plant" indication. This medal is unique as it is the only medal in the world awarded for participation in a nuclear clean up. That might explain his skin complexion and odd behavior. Mythology Fact: The Other Mother's (Teri Hatcher) name "Beldam" is an archaic word meaning: a malicious and ugly woman, especially an old one; a witch. It was once traditional on Halloween night for kids to dare each other to knock on the neighborhood Beldam's door (an elderly woman living near them). In many stories, a Beldam closely resembles a spider and lures children into her home with candy and treats, only to trap them inside a cobweb and liquefy their innards with venom. In other variations, the Beldam just traps kids in her home and eats them.

When the doll is being made, what's even creepier is that those tools are embalming tools

The thing about Coraline's parents are the fact they are working on a strict deadline in the middle of a multi-state move (from Michigan to Oregon), and they are not even unable to fully unpack, let alone have enough money after for a lot more until their next issue is accepted. Coraline is also a pre-teen with a lot of energy, whom is being a bit of a brat. It's more what I've come to recognize as I've gotten older and rewatched this movie.

2:18 The animation style is called "claymation". it's a very tedious process. The film is shot frame by frame, with the clay characters readjusted and posed between takes to simulate movement. When edited together, each slightly altered frame creates a sense of motion and tells the story of the piece.it takes hours upon hours to create 2 minutes of a scene. I had to do it for a school project once ....... never again (it was too much work for me).

This is a nostalgia trip and a half, it was sort of a tradition to watch this movie during the Halloween season, although I think we just wanted to spend time with family and used it as an excuse, either way it's a good time

This movie is a lot creepier if you watched it young. Traumatized many kids lmao I remember seeing the last half of the movie when i was younger and it creeped tf out of me! Then rewatched the whole thing as an adult and even though it's still creepy it didn't scare me half as much as back then haha but still very enjoyable! I love the cat and wybie too and I get sad when i think of the other wybie

I don’t think her parents are always like that, the mother just got in an accident, have money problems and they’re on a deadline in their work🤔 After they finish that and recover better from what happened they show us that they are normally more sweet parents🤔🤨 And Coraline is an annoying brat, brave and kind, but a brat. Kind of everyone was in a bad mood.

a fun fact about this movie is when the other mother brings a cake for coraline, it says "welcome home!". the “o” in “home” has 2 loops, which means the person who wrote it is lying. this means that coraline is welcome, but she isn't home.

The one thing I dislike about Coraline was the parents. I know they got into an accident and have their garden whatever they gotta get done. But there are so many ways to keep a kid entertained when you don’t have time for them. Do they have any other living relatives she could’ve stayed with? Get her some toys! At least get her some snacks and appealing food until you have time to cook. I mean they run out of food without even noticing! Also they didn’t have to make it obvious that they were frustrated the way they did, in Coraline’s place, I would’ve thought they didn’t even want me. I would’ve been thinking “Did I do something wrong?” when all she wanted was attendance. I mean they just moved to a new home, left her friends, and they do nothing to even ensure she isn’t just staring at a dang wall? I just don’t understand why they moved to begin with. They don’t even acknowledge their daughters existence without groaning. I mean to me, if my parents did that, I’d think “You really can’t stand me that much?” They paid so little attention, they didn’t even know about her poison oak! I know Coraline could also help out, but they didn’t even do anything for her to do that. I mean she literally only had that doll someone gave her. A little conversation with their daughter, maybe a small break for a few minutes, anything was better than what they were doing.
