Imelda Staunton did a fantastic job playing a character who was more hated than the story's main villain. The fact that Umbridge was more hated than Voldemort himself makes the scene where she gets carried away like firewood by the centaurs that much more satisfying. When I first saw Grawp, I thought he looked like the illustrated kid on the cover of MAD Magazine, Alfred E. Neuman. Also.... Cornelius Fudge, after seeing Voldemort: He's back.... Me, sarcastically: Gee, if only someone said that the previous year and at the hearing. Oh, wait....

In the book for Goblet, there were other challenges inside the maze, not just the maze itself. Also in the books for this story, it is explained that Mrs. Fig is a squib like Filch. Which means she was born to magical parents but has no magic herself. There is a reason why Harry has to keep going home to the Dursleys. They kind of explained it before but not well in the movies. In the first movie, they said that Lily’s love protected Harry. Voldemort also explained that it was Lily’s old magic protected Harry. Since Petunia is Lily’s sister the protection continues while he lives with her. Oh, and Neville’s parents are not dead. They were attacked by Bellatrix and Barty Crouch with the torture curse, and were driving insane.

Dumbledore was always powerful. He is the only wizard Voldemort fears. Remember Dumbledore in the third movie? He knows all. Bellatrix and Umbridge or very good villains. The actresses that play them makes you hate them so much, so good job! Things are especially bad with Bellatrix when you figure out she killed her own cousin, and then goes around chanting it to torture Harry more!

The movies never explain this, but Harry needs to return to the Dursleys's every summer, because the protection that his mother provided when she sacrificed her life for him (the reason why Voldemort couldn't touch him) was immediately transferred to her next of kin, Petunia, when she died. The Dursleys know this, as Dumbledore sent a letter to them when Harry was delivered to their house. The protection lasts until Harry turns 17, but he needs to return each summer to keep it going.

Thank you for these wonderful reactions!! Honestly, every movie from the 4th part should have been 2 movies actually. They miss a lot of details. Sorry about the information overload in this comment but I really hope you go through it as it would really make you appreciate this series even more. They deviated the most from the books in this movie and the next. I’’ be back here after your next reaction haha. Here are some clarifications for your questions from this movie- 1. Harry could not live with Sirius as Sirius was still a wanted criminal as per the ministry. Also, Lily's sacrifice for Harry was not just Love but really ancient magic based on Love. Harry could not be touched by Voldy because of that and as long as Harry returned to somebody who shared blood with Lily at least once every year, Voldy could not harm him. That is why he has to go to live with his aunt every year. Once Voldy returned, he could touch Harry but still could not fatally harm him as long as he returned to the Dursleys' place. 2. Dudley is just being a bully when he asks Harry about his mum. He knows she is dead. 3. Mrs Figg is a squib (a non magic person born to magic parents, basically opposite of Hermione who is a witch born to muggle parents. Filch is also a squib and thus is mean towards students because of jealousy). She was stationed by Dumbledore to keep an eye on Harry, even more important after Voldy returned. 4. Dudley points towards Harry because muggles can’t see dementors so he genuinely thinks Harry did something to him. 5. In the movies Hermione is always with Ron’s family but not as much in the books from what I remember. Although a lot more than Harry as Harry nneds to return to Dursleys’ every year as explained earlier but Hermione doesn’t have any restrictions like that. 6. In the books, Sirius and Lupin were Harry’s parents’ best friends and he learns a lot about his parents from them so he has a deep emotional bond with them and feels almost like being with his parents. Also, Sirius sees a lot of James in Harry and is the only one who doesn’t treat Harry like a child (just teenage validation things lol). 7. Fudge is not in cahoots with Voldy but is actually really scared that Voldy is back and is in denial. The Dementors actually start following Voldy from this movie as they have no lyalty and jusy yfollow anybody who can give them most people to feed off and were probably in Little Whinging on orders from Voldy. 8. Neville’s parents are still alive but have no memory due to being tortured intensely by the Cruciatus curse from Bellatrix and Barty Crouch Jr. They are in a wizarding hospital called St Mungo’s which is another thing not shown in movies. Interestingly she Umbridge lands up in the same ward with them after (most likely) being tortured by Centaurs. Also, in the books, Neville doesn’t tell Harry about his parents but Harry discovers him visiting them in St Mungo’s when he and the Weasley’s go to visit Ron’s dad at St Mungo’s after the attack. 9. In this book both Voldy and Dumbledore are basically recruiting followers and army for the war that’s coming. Fudge thinks Dumbledore is raising an army to throw him off. 10. Hermione makes everybody sign the Dumbledore’s Army parchment as she has bewitched it with a spell. Anybody who betrays them will have the word ‘SNITCH’ be written on their face with boils. Cho doesn’t betray the DA but her friend does because Umbridge threatened her mother would lose her job at the Ministry if she didn’t say anything. She develops the aforementioned boils and nobody is able to remove them because Hermione is just a badass basically lol. Cho and Harry just break up naturally because Harry was an idiot and didn’t give her much time and Cho suspected something going on between Harry and Hermione. And you are right, they both share a brother-sister relationship. 11. Harry’s father did bully James a lot but turns out to be a better man in the end after meeting Harry’s mother. Snape on the other hand makes friends with the ‘pure blood’ supporters many of whom become death eaters after school. 12. Hagrid is a half giant. His dad was normal and mother a giantess. How ‘their equipment’ (for lack of a better term) worked together is a mystery lol. 13. Dumbledore’s escape in the books is a lot more elaborate. He sort of slows down time and fights off the aurors (wizard police brought by Fudge) and escapes. There are also some members of the Order amogst those aurors, most notably the guy who comments on Dumbledore’s style (Kingsley Shacklebolt). 14. Harry won a shit load money from the Triwizard Tournament which he gave to the Weasley twins to help them with their prank and joke shop. He basically feels guilty of winning the money because of Cedric’s death and anyway is very rich so doesn’t want or need it. They have been experimenting all year developing products and they drop out of school and open their own shop. 15. Padfoot is Sirius’ nickname from school and Snape knows it. So Harry did give him a secret message while in Umbridge’s office and Snape contacts the order of the Phoenix and that’s why they are able to show up at the ministry to save Harry and friends. Padfoot = Sirius (name of the dog star and his animagus is a dog), Prongs = James (antlers on a stag), Moony = Lupin (latin name for wolf and he is a werewolf), Wormtail = Peter (rat which is self explanatory). 16. Yes Voldy could have retrieved the prophecy but he didn’t want to blow his cover as long as ministry didn’t believe dumbledore and wanted to remain hidden while recruiting his followers. 17. Sirius’ death is just as sudden in the books. Bellatrix doesn’t even use Avada Kedavra (death spell) and just uses a normal spell which hits Sirius and he falls through the veil. The veil is supposed to be the portal to ‘the other side’ and is being studied by ministry officilas. That is why only Harry and Luna hear voices as both have seen death. 18. They can’t use time turners as all were destroyed during the battle in the department of mysteries. They travel through a lot of rooms in the book and not just prophecy and veil room as in the movie. 19. Dumbledore really is the most powerful wizard ever on the good side and that’s why gets so much respect. He just doesn’t want power as he is wise and that’s why is just a headmaster. He actually defeated the last dark wizard before Voldy (Grindelwald) which is revealed behind his Chocolate frog card that Harry gets in the first book in the train. He was always able to see through Voldy and that is why Voldy is afraid of him. 20. The prophecy is explained in a greater detail in the book again. Basically it could have meant Neville as well as both Harry and Neville share the same birthday, both their parents fought Voldy and escaped thrice but Voldy choses to try and kill Harry and thus marks him as his equal. The prophecy was told in front of Dumbledore by Trelawney (the teacher with specs) and Dumbledore prevents her from being removed from Hogwarts because he didn’t want Voldy to find her. Snape heard the first part of the prophecy as he was still a death eater back then and told Voldy. He missed out on the part that says ‘the dark lord will himself mark him as his equal’. So maybe if Voldy hadn’t attacked Harry, Harry might not have the power to defeat Voldy. Also if Voldy had selected Neville, would Neville’s mother have used the same magic that Lily did?

Stuff from the book not in the movie: Umbridge is the one who sends the dementors to attack Harry at the beginning of the movie, she reveals it later. When the Daily Prophet refuses to tell Harry's story about Voldemort's return, Hermione arranges it to be published in the Quibbler (a nutty magazine published by Luna Lovegood's father). She asks Rita Skeeter to write it. Rita is the journalist from the last movie. Hermione figures out that she is an animagus (she can turn herself into a beetle and spy on people to get information) and blackmails her. The prophecy concerning Harry and Voldemort was revealed by Prof Trelawney to Dumbledore many years ago. It was partly overheard by Snape and relayed to Voldemort. Both Harry and Neville Longbottom fit the description of the boy. The prophecy also contained the line "The Dark Lord will mark him as his equal", which was not heard by Snape. The fact that Voldemort went after Harry to kill him as a child essentialy marks him. That's the time when some of Voldemort's powers got transferred to Harry, that's why their wands have similar cores, which saved Harry's life in the last movie when they fought. By doing what Voldemort did, he essentially created his own Worst enemy. When Harry sees that Sirius Black is being tortured, he first tries to confirm that Sirius is missing. He uses the fire in Umbridge's office to go to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix and asks Kreature (the house elf of the Black family). Kreature lies to him that Sirius isn't there.

Sirius black takes on the form of a black dog sirius is a constellation in the night sky of the dog. So that's why he's called sirius black is a black dog. Padfoot is the nickname for Sirius Black is one of the four Marauders James Potter Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew were the other three. Hagrid is a half-giant, with a giant mother and a wizard father. That's why Umbridge hated him, like all other half bloods. Giants are known in the wizarding community to have violent tendencies, that's why they are scared of them. Olympe used to be ashamed to admit she is also half giant, but later she did and went with Hagrid to deal with the Giants

The reason why Voldemort did not want to go into the ministry of magic to retrieve the prophecy is because he got the ministry of magic believing that he was not back him showing up would ruin the whole thing. Also they don't explain exactly why only the person who the prophecy is named after that can pick it up but basically if anyone else tries to their minds will will go insane and they have no memories

Slytherin cursed the Dark arts position so every year it is a different person or something like that. 7:40 Dad is obsessed with Muggles, never used Muggle stuff so he's intrigued to use Muggle ways (Muggle, money train/subway, etc.) 26:28 Hagrid is half-Giant, so not super big. 35:03 Padfoot is Sirius, from the Marauder's map.

Salazar Slytherin did not curse the Dark arts position. Tom Riddle did, before he became Voldemort officially. Tom went to the school to ask for the defense against the Dark Arts position but when Dumbledore denied him the position he cursed the position so that no professor would last more than one year. Voldemort always so petty.

Fun fact: In some versions of Greek myth, centaurs were known to kidnap women and, um, "violate" them. In the book, Umbridge's aftermath is described, recovering in the hospital wing and acting as though she has had severe trauma. PS - Apropos of nothing, in the late '60s early '70s there was a pharmaceutical amphetamine sold in the UK known as Mandrex. This drug was often used recreationally, street named "Mandies". Thought you might find that funny.

Daniel Radcliffe got his hair cut because of a role he did on Broadway called Equus, where he performed some scenes in the buff. Yes, Umbridge is with the Ministry of Magic and along with the Minister they are in complete denial that Voldemort has returned because they want to appear they are in power. Hagrid is part giant, his mother was a "giantess" and his father was human. What they don't say in the movie is even though Umbridge was made headmistress, she was never able to get into Dumbledore's office.

So the whole point of the whole trials and the different competitions that they did for the cup was for the final scene in the maze they got their standing on who would enter the maze first depending on how well they did in the previous competitions. So the the French girl I can't spell her name I'm sorry but she got last place so she entered the maze last where Harry and Cedric scored higher and tied to enter the maze at the same time first

@shauryasehgal6931 touched on most things, so, I'll just elaborate on the prophecy and it's importance. Remember how Profesor Trelawney (who's playing by none other than Emma Thompson🤯🥰) went weird when alone with Harry in the last movie? Servant (Pettigrew) will be reunited with Master (Voldy) etc she basically tells us what will happen in the rest of the movie. In the book Harry tells Dumbledore about it at the end of course when he finally understood what he heard. Dumbledore laughs and says this would be her second true prediction (ever), which is cool foreshadowing for this movie/ book where we learn Trelawney is the one that foresaw the prophecy and thats why Dumbledore took her in as a teacher, to keep her safe. She however is unaware, her gift is subconscious. The reason Voldy wants the prophecy isn't explained in the movie which baffles me to this day because there wouldn't be a book /movie otherwise. Dumbledore met with Trelawney 16 yrs before to interview her about the teacher position in a schetchy place (at her request), during the interview she went into trance like the one with Harry, they caught someone eavesdropping and took him away, he only heard the first part. Voldy is convinced what he was told years before isn't complete and thinks it also contains details to help destroy Harry (the supposed secret weapon), the part he missed is most important, and quite ironic. "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies" is what the eavesdropper heard, "the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal" is what he missed and is ironic because the only way for Harry to become powerful enough was to be atacked, have powers from Voldy transfered and become his equal. There were 2 boys born at the end of July with parents in the Order of the Phoenix that defied Voldy 3 times, Harry and Neville. While the magic Lilly used was ancient, it was a result of her Sacrifice, not a spell she used, Voldy explained it in the graveyard and Dumbledore at the end of the first movie, Love (through sacrifice). Neville is Pure Blood, Voldy chose Harry because he's Half Blood, like himself. Fun to think these could've been Longbottom books. In the wise words of Master Oogway (Kung-fu Panda) One often meets his destiny on the path he takes to avoid it 🤯 PS: Padfoot is Sirius's nickname (black dog / The Grim), Pettigrew is Wormtail (from his rat tail), Moony is Prof Lupin (obviously lol) and James, Harry's dad was Prongs (antlers of a Stag Patronus/Animagus) They were mentioned in the other movie when Snape tried reading the Marauders Map which the 4 friends created.

In the Goblet of Fire book, the point of the tournament was a test of magical skill for students. It was meant for only 7th year student to take part. Harry was selected to be part of the tournament by malicious, unethical means. The 3 trials were meant to test the magical knowledge and abilities of those chosen. We only saw Harry face the dragon because he is the main charater, the youngest participant, and facing the most dangerous of the 4 dragons. The 2nd trial was also test of both magic and problem solving: Figure out how to survive underwater for an hour to find something that was taken from each player (friend/family). But they also had to get past other obstacles: the inhabitants of the Black Lake. Only one person couldn't complete the challenge. Harry found the 'treasures' first, but 2 of the were friends of his (Ron, Hermione). He couldn't choose one over the other. While deciding, His friend, and fellow contestant Cedric 1 of the 4 treasures. That left Harry with 3 treasures, but he was only allowed one. The choice was taken from him by the contestant Krum, when took his friend Hermione. That left Harry with 2. But since Krum had scared away the ones guarding the treasures, Harry decided to take both treasures; but he had very little time left. The 3rd, and final trial, was the hardest of the 3 challenges. Not only did they have to navigate a maze in the dark, with unknown dangers, they had to find the TriWizard Cup. What they didn't know was that the maze can alter a person's personality and behavior as well. So each champion could become a danger to the other 3. But only one was meant to win by grabbing the cup first.

Mrs Figg is a squib. Means exact opposite of Hermione . Squibs have magical parents . Harry has to go back to that house because he is protected due to blood relation. Until 17 that protection stays. Hermione comes to Rons place as the vacations are about to end so that they all can leave to school together. Writing down Dumbledore army list was hermiones brilliant idea...there was a jinx like thingy on it, so when Cho's friends snitched (as per book) she got acne on her face in the form of word "sneak" on her face...and it dint go off that quick... The name that was burned out was Andromeda ..Tonk's mother . Bellatrix lestrange, narcissa malfoy and Andromeda tonks are sisters

Of course voldy can retrieve the prophecy but he didn't want to blow up his cover by himself because first thing he wanted was to gather his followers and rebuilt his army of death eaters again. He wanted to work from the shadow and the whole ministry indirectly help him to do that just for their own swallow pride. Not believeing harry and dumbledore. Ignoring the harsh truth every way possible. Whole wizarding world would laugh at them hearing the fact that "a fifteen year old boy found him but the so called ministry can't not so uncommon with our real world politicians isn't it ?😅 Voldy just enjoying the show from the shadow. And who the hell would question and doubt dumbledore and his abilities as a wizard? Answer is No one dares that's all. And you said it before... Is it that hard for you to grasp the fact that he's only a headmaster of a school?? It's his life his choice what's the matter? Let me give you the fact from the books which movies never mentioned. He was chosen as the minister of magic several times already and everytime he rejected that position. Hunger for power and always seeking them don't fit his character. He don't believe in power he believes it corrupts people and that leason came from his own life experience. So many things happened in his life in the past which you will know when you progress let's not spoil it now. I am glad that movies didn't show the actual fight which happened in the book for you at least. That chapter in the book called "The only one he ever feared" Dumbledore didn't draw that fight like shown in the movie. It was completely one sided for him. He dominanted voldy every way in that fight even when holding back and saving harry. Didn't show the fact how voldy hide himself in harry like a b*tch just to avoid that fight with dumbledore. You will probably loss your head more and more about dumbledore if that actual fight from the book shown in the movie. 😅

ok got to clear it, memories of Snape is a partial LIEEEEE. James did not bully him and Snape was not an innocent pidgeon. They hated each other and fuckd each other any time they had the oportunity. Actually by that time Snape was already on the way to become a Death eater, he was the "emo dark" guy, James was a spoiled kid but that was it, inmature, again, they hated and fked each other since they met. And no, Snape is not "super hot dark guy" in the books, he's the guy who literally doesnt get a shower, and stinks XDD hes all a mess in the books, the only not difference is that he's a dark arts and potions prodigy but not a "cool guy" And in the books he's abusive with the kids, not just Harry for "oh ur father was bad with me" no, ABUSIVE WITH ALL that aren't slytherin.

Something in the book about prophecy can’t be taken except by the person it is specifically made for, even if it mentions someone else in it. Also, dumbleeydoor is a very famous a renowned wizard already. You learn more about him later.

the way I think about it is, the results of each triwizard task simply decides who goes first in the next task, so you get an advantage basically. and technically, Neville isn't an orphan. His parents are still alive, they have just been driven insane.

Harry has to live with family to remain protected by the spell his mother protected him with. Thus, he must continue until he becomes an adult. Explained in the books.

It's not explained well in the movies but Harry's mother made him unassailable in the home of a blood relative of his mother, Aunt Petunia. The protection went both ways that Harry and Petunia protected each other whilst in the same home. In the book when Harry runs afoul of the Ministry here, Dumbledore reminds Petunia. To keep the protection Harry has spend some time each year at home and always intend to come back. If Harry abandons the home, he loses a powerful protection and Petunia and hers would be vulnerable to an angry Tom Riddle. This means Harry can visit the Weasleys or Sirius, but he cannot move in permanently. This book or a sequel explains who set the Dementors loose. The book also goes into more why this movie ends sadly because Harry was an idiot. Ron's dad works in the Ministry to counter wizards who thinks it's fun to enchant muggle things to harm or confuse muggles. Like a flying car. Snape is in the Order of the Phoenix and knows Padfoot is Sirius (referring to Sirius in dog form with his dog paws). And the Order knows Tom Riddle wants the prophecy hidden in Department of Mysteries. Harry tells Snape Sirius is at the Ministry perhaps in danger. Dumbledore can get a message out of Hogwarts to rest of the Order.

So in the movie they do explain that Harry and Cedric got to start the maze earlier because they had more points than the other two

Voldemorts plan used Barty Crouch Jr to set up the Tournament to get Harry to get to the Cup/Portkey first, for the spell to give him his body back and try again to kill Harry. They used the hype of the Tournament to undermine from inside Hogwarts. I hope that helps.

I am so late to the party on this one! I blame Nargles. But I can always depend on this wonderful lady to bring up the spirits after an extra long week 😊 I lost track of how many times I cracked up during the reaction. So in the book Harry actually thought that he was the physical snake and that he was actually at the ministry attacking Arthur Weasley. He thought that Voldemort transported him from Hogwarts to the ministry to use him and have him attack Arthur Weasley. He isolated himself for some time and at one point they finally went to him Ginny Weasley one of them and got quite upset that he did not come to her to talk to her since she had been possessed before after asking a few questions she says you were not possessed. It was only a dream a connection between the mines but in there though he isolates himself because he thinks that he's going to be possessed again

The really interesting thing to think about with Goblet of Fire is what was Voldemort's plan if Harry didn't win. yes he had Barty Jr helping him with hints and such but once they got to the maze it was just down to luck that Harry got to it and the portkey on it took him to Voldemort. Voldemort could only be resurrected by Harry's blood so if anyone else won the race in the maze then Volde was out of luck, doesn't seem like something you'd really want to leave to chance to me. RE: Dumbledore...he's like 200 years old and is known as one of the most powerful wizards in the world but you won't get full answers to your question until a later movie.

Actually Voldemort could use the blood of anyone who was his enemy, which being honest, all the kids in that tournament would have qualified lol. The reason he picks Harry is one, to get past the protection lily’s blood afforded Harry. By using Harry’s blood like he said he could now touch him (and in his mind kill him) he finds out killing him is not so easy even if lily’s blood no longer protects Harry. The second reason is as a show of power to his followers. Who he called to him to witness him killing his nemesis. Voldemort could have just tried to kill Harry without the audience. But he wanted to show them that the boy was nothing special not powerful enough to be any type of match for himself. This part of his plan faltered because Harry by luck and courage proofed that he would stand up to him and that he may not be special or as powerful as Voldemort but he could definitely be a match to him because Voldemort in his pettiness made him so. This messed with Voldemort initial plan to take over and I think was what triggered him to hide his comeback from popular knowledge. Voldemort before his fall was not secretive he liked to scare the people and did countless murders out in the open. He hid because he found out that there was something he was not aware of that could actually make Harry his match. That’s why now he hid and was after the prophecy. deep down what Harry did in that graveyard scared him.

Actually, not entirely luck. Fake Moody put a spell on Krum to eliminate everyone but Harry. Krum managed to get to Fleur (Remember when she screamed, and Krum's eyes were glazed over, and ignored Harry?), but Cedric was attacked by the maze itself, and saved by Harry. Unfortunately, by sharing the cup with Cedric, he also got him killed (by sending him to the graveyard).

Stress sometimes so affective to block growing tall on children I heard. Daniel Radcliffe might had same kind of stress and couldnt get taller in age 15. Imagine entire Britain golden boy legendary Harry Potter pressure. Anyway... Dolares Umbridge character probably the most annoying ever I saw! We had a same type of person in highschool. Luna is like parsley in salad. Without parsley you wont lose anything much. But with parsley sald becomes very delicious. Also Harry Melling as Dudley's face impression great innit? :) He is great in Queen's Gambit TV show. Maybe you might like that one too later.

I don't believe they always have to. I think the confusion happens because women (speaking generally, I can't speak for everyone) usually throw out hints that they are hoping the guy will act upon. Like Hermione talking about them kissing in the pub was a green light for Ron. But he didn't get it. On that note, I don't believe the "dropping hints method" is the best. Because in this situation Ron missed it and Hermione was upset by that. I believe if you have feelings for someone and it's appropriate. It doesn't matter if you are the guy or the girl, because either can make the first move.

Hermione returned the time turner at the end of book 3 and they were all destroyed after because too dangerous (and also too broken to potentially be kept in the story lol)

Also, Bellatrix used the killing curse on Sirius, so yeah, one hit indeed And Harry didn't only met Sirius 3 times In the books they have a stronger bond I find it weird that you're like "duh it's the only family you have but he was only your dad's friend" so what ? He's officially his godfather, which makes Sirius part of the family plus they were more than friends with James, I would argue they couldn't be closer friends, basically brothers, and Sirius knew Harry when he was a baby (harry's parents got killed when he was 1 year old) The motorbike Hagrid has originally belonged to Sirius and he gave it to hagrid specifically to bring Harry to Dumbledore There's a strong relationship between these two.
