I’m glad as adults we realised that Troy was in the right and that his friends were being unsupportive. Being an athlete myself, you can’t just “recommend” your friends. D1 colleges are huge institutions and they have scouts that desire certain players for their blueprint, if they wanted Chad and the others, they would’ve reached out. The fact that he wanted better for himself just for everyone to abandon him is crazy. Only for Gabriella to do the same in the next movie.

My issue was Troy’s attitude - the whole “I ordered Swiss on my burger” made me INCANDESCENT with rage lol - but that was literally the only valid reason for his friends to be upset lol. Although I do think Gabi has a point with Troy bailing on things. Like, if you have this opportunity, that’s great and I’m happy for you! But don’t promise to do something and then bail repeatedly. COMMUNICATE. TROY, TELL HER WHAT’S GOING ON. Like. I feel if he had just told her that he was having this scholarship opportunity but it would mean he had no free time over the next week or two, Gabi would totally understand.

This one is the best one. Also everyone is pretty sure that Ryan and Chad had a little thing. The actor who played Ryan said that he didn't want a label because he both liked both Boys and Kelsey in high school but Kenny Ortega said when he went to college he came out officially as Gay.

Even as a teen I remember thinking that line from Troy and his dad about friends' opinion being more important than the scholarship was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. Such terrible advice 😂

I like to think of it as, money won’t buy friendship. While yes his friends should’ve been way more supportive of his opportunities, Troy did let it get to his head a bit.

@@cherrybxmb18 money doesn’t buy friends but it can buy a post secondary education IF you have it. Troys parents don’t and that’s why the scholarship was so important. If they were good friends, they should’ve thought of that. Chances are Troy wasn’t going to be staying friends with a lot of those people after graduation anyway since people grow apart a ton at that time so his future definitely should’ve been one of the top priorities

@@samanthaw3845 that always annoyed me whilst watching the movies to be honest, I agree that it’s hard to believe that they are terribly financially challenged and live in a nice house like that but that being said, we are kind of bound by the narrative and the narrative is that his parents can’t afford his post-secondary education. There has to be a little bit of dubious Hollywood logic in there I suppose. Also, who knows? It could be that his parents previously have had more money when they purchased the house and are in more tight financial constraints now. Having had money doesn’t guarantee that there will be an abundance of money in the present or future

When I was a kid I got the extended edition for Christmas and it was the first time I saw the movie. Then when I saw the movie playing on the Disney Channel I was confused why that song wasn't in it.

I absolutely love this movie. Personally, I think it’s the best of these movies. I think “Work This Out” is the only song that doesn’t make any sense to me. They went to the club specifically to work for the summer and they sing a song about… how upset they are… to work? I also never understood how his friends got mad at Troy for just trying to get his life set up for a future.
