I was more bothered killian healed after being blown up INSIDE A SUIT. That was actually a pretty fitting bad guy death. Until they ruined it with a "he's not dead cliche" just to be killed moments later by a different explosion that would have done far less damage to his body because it was in front of him and not completely surrounding him. You can tell it was added in after the fact just to give pepper a "kickass female moment" because they undermined their internal logic completely.
@Dead25m4 жыл бұрын
@@TheNitroG1 The logic is that he can only strain the body to heal a certain amount, he was severely injured after Tony's blow up and therefor couldn't survive another blast again. Besides, the armament that Pepper kicked at him is a more powerful blow than the suit. Though I do agree that his first possible death looked better, however I can't fault them for what they went for, it kind of worked and Pepper got a taste of the real hero-gig, which leads to future stuff being more acceptable.
@explody78364 жыл бұрын
Many of the problems you complain about Tony having in this movie are the result of his ongoing struggles with PTSD -- the anxiety attacks, lashing out and doxing himself. IT's not really a "grow up" thing, it's a combination of his personality as someone who has never met a challenge he couldn't defeat head-on and some good old fashioned trauma
@JakkFrost14 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that irked me.
@noodle_fc4 жыл бұрын
It need not be only one or the other. Let's face it, Tony Stark is not an emotionally mature person. He is slowly-slowly-maturing, but he's been immature since we met him. They could hardly have made it more obvious. Think about the very first things we see the character do, back in Iron Man. Shooting craps in Vegas instead of accepting an award in front of people who are important to his business; keeping Rhodey waiting on him for hours at the airport; then pressuring him to get drunk on the flight when they're meant to be working. He's not a dependable person. He's not someone you'd trust to address important issues. Like, his immaturity is in many ways Tony's defining characteristic. In every single movie, his arc has to do with working on some aspect of himself, some way he deals with the world that needs to change. You could yell, "Grow up, Tony!" at just about any Marvel movie and not be wrong.
@BrokenGodEnt4 жыл бұрын
@@noodle_fc I see what you mean, but the first situation in which she said he needed to grow up was during his panic attack, because of his PTSD. Saying "grow up Tony!" in that context seems a little dumb imo.
@noodle_fc4 жыл бұрын
@@BrokenGodEnt I can see how those dots don't necessarily connect. Maturity is often on my mind when watching Tony. As much as I like the character for all his good qualities, I spend a lot of time low-key ticked off at him for his flaws. (Even though a hero without flaws can be very boring, and a protagonist's flaws often drive a story's narrative.) So for me, I interpreted Natalie's comments not only in the immediate context of the anxiety attack, but also the larger picture of, oh, Tony has PTSD _and-surprise, surprise-he's not attempting to address it responsibly._ I'll grant that if you're not already in a judgey headspace, "grow up" would seem out of order.
@explody78364 жыл бұрын
@@noodle_fc I want to mention that I don't think it is "one or the other." His immaturity is what leads to his impulse control issues, but those impulse control issues are compounded by his PTSD. This kind of anxiety is a new creature to Tony. His fight or flight response is already skewed to begin with, but with major panic attacks in the mix? It's a perfect storm.

@@JakkFrost1 no honestly it's how I feel too, but not in IM1 or IM2. I felt a lot of his character development was regressive in this film and continues to regress for the rest of the MCU. some of the stuff you said really bothered me. telling him to “grow up” when he’s having an anxiety attack is not okay at all. he has ptsd, anxiety and lashing out come with that. he can’t sleep cause of nightmares so he went into a state of panic tinkering to keep his family safe. he’s scared, and all that has nothing to do with “growing up.” Tony also never has the chance to a real and normal childhood. he was always in the spotlight, howard wasn’t a good dad (hence the “dads leave” line). so obviously having a bad childhood is also gonna affect how someone acts. he never got to be a kid, he grew up to quickly going to college at 14 and graduating 3 years later. becoming ceo at 21. being kidnapped. all of that contributes to who tony is and his mental health. he’s not just some rich white man who needs to grow up.

Remember how freaked out you were about Tony trashing his house? Well every time he did he upgraded during the repairs. Last time he installed a vault underneath the house that was undamaged by the AIM attack. Cleaning crews, clearing the wreckage uncovered the Vault (I don't know how you missed the scene), allowing JARVIS to access the House Party Protocol. Behold, *The Iron Legion.*

It's ok you didn't watch this on Christmas. Movie actually came out in May.

I agree. There's a difference between a "chistmas time" movie and a "christmas theme" movie. Christmas time movie, the time of the year is merely a footnote to the overall story. Die Hard, foot note. Home Alone, footnote.
@spiderhamilton14 жыл бұрын
@@Leon-wz1js Yeah the Christmas theme is not a footnote to Home Alone. It's the impetus for the family vacation and the character arcs for the Kevin and the neighbor. Christmas is integral to Home Alone
@Leon-wz1js4 жыл бұрын
@@spiderhamilton1 I'm sorry, Greg, I disagree. The point of a Christmas theme story is for the protagonist to go through a journey of self discovery throughout. The journey for Kevin and the neighbor takes place in five, minutes combined. On his own, Kevin lives like a rockstar, showing how well he DOESN'T need his family, feeding himself, taking care of burgulars, then having a fleeting moment where he thinks about his family. Christmas was simply the reason for the family to travel on a holiday. It could have been any other time of year. Thereby, Christmas was just a footnote, and it wasn't about Christmas.
@spiderhamilton14 жыл бұрын
@@Leon-wz1js By your logic, It's A Wonderful Life isn't a Christmas movie. I think you miss the part where Kevin helps his neighbor or the point of the movie, family a central theme of the Christmas season
@maniac77704 жыл бұрын
@@Leon-wz1js Except it also wasn't, because part of the reason Marv and Harry were hitting the neighborhood at all was because, as Harry had scouted out in his police uniform, so many families would be away for the holidays. Additionally, the personal growth for Kevin does occur through the movie, because the point wasn't just his reconciliation with his neighbor, but also his realization that he didn't mean that he never wanted to see his family again. Kevin talking with old man Marley was just the culmination of that part of the journey: seeing someone who got what Kevin wanted, but realized that it wasn't worth what would be lost. I would argue that Christmas, in that sense, is actually all the more integral to the Home Alone movie because it's supposed to be a time of togetherness, of being able to be with those you love, and if the movie had happened at some other time of the year, that message wouldn't hold nearly as much pertinence as it did.

To clarify how the suits showed up, only a handful of suits were in his workshop, which we see in the beginning of the film. The rest of the suits were in the armory, a big-ass vault in the basement. I have too many opinions about adaptations of comics, books etc. honestly those people need to stop and let movies do what they need to. A lot of things in written media don’t translate anyways. you keep looking at Tony's house and things being destroyed with so much anxiety because its from the perspective of someone who can't replace these things. Tony CAN replace every single material item he has. It's why he doesn't care how its treated. "Jarvis do me a favour and blow up mark 42" So basically Tony makes a lot of suits, and each one of them is given a mark number. That's why in the end there were so many suits, even though they don't show him building each one of them. One part of the movie shows something was opening in the ground at Tony's house, this is where he keeps all of them safe and only those that you saw got destroyed, got destroyed.

There's a difference between people who *know* the comics and people who *read* the comics. I've talked to many who have been reading comic books for decades and they are used to characters being reimagined completely differently every so often. So for them, the villain bait and switch is something they're accustomed to and most of them really enjoyed it. The people who complained the most were people with roughly my relationship with comics, which is that I have spent about 20x as much time reading wiki articles about characters and events than I have actually reading comic books. For people in my boat, I think the reason they get upset is that they have no plans on reading the comic arc, but they'd like to be told that story and shown that villain who is so iconic and loved by the people who DID read it. So I understand. But I get why they decided to reward the comic readers in this instance.
