How did Gage’s vocabulary get better? The Wendigo is talking through him like a puppet. In the book Gage tortures Judd before his death with the voice of his dead wife Norma talking through him, gleefully talking about how she slept with Judd’s friends

The worst part was that I saw this when i was WAY too young. When my son was that age, he looked almost exactly like Gage in the movie. Even had a pair of those shoes. To say that I never let that kid go anything near what even LOOKED like a road without me is the understatement of the millennium. Had nightmares like that because of this !@)(#*& movie.

Louis did not dig and commit this action by himself, neither did Jud when he helped him bury the cat. The burial site is possessed by the Wendigo it gets in your head and convinces you to. To increase its own power

I watched this when I was around 8 and the part that freaked me out the most was the sister with spinal meningitis. For some reason the image of her back really stuck with me. Classic horror movie though the kid actor is amazing in it.

I think it scared us all so badly as kids because most of us had never seen someone in that condition. Then the thoughts of will this happen to me/parents/loved ones? Will they die like Zelda did? And then the nightmares come 😂

Genuinely I think it's still one of the only movies that scares me. It took me until last year to actually finish the whole movie because the first 3 times I watched it over the last 14 years I couldn't bring myself to look when gage comes back at the end I was too scared to see how he looked when pascow gave me nightmares for weeks after the first time I watched 😭

I really really really got traumatize from watching this movie when i was a kid for many years. My grandparents live in a ranch but to go visit the rest of the family we needed to cross the road and yes alot of trucks go through so yeah every time i walk cross the road i remember Gage and freak out and started to cry.

16:17 Got this from an article because I was curious: Semi-trucks vs. cars as follows: A normal passenger vehicle traveling at a speed of 65 miles per hour would take about 316 feet to stop. For a fully-loaded commercial truck, the stopping distance of it running at 65 miles per hour is about 525 feet. So no matter if he stopped fast and hard his truck would jack knife which causes it to slide. And in this scene the truck flips. That fact is one of many reasons why the remake, while flawed, had some innovations. The other is how they handled the possessions. As far as remakes go, there are many that are real stinkers. I don't count Pet Semetary among them.

I mean it looks like he stuck a needle in the cat and the cat squirmed around dying in reaction to the poison , do you think they gave the cat Catnip to make it act like that, and then had a well done fake dead prop cat with a oxygen pump to make the dead cats stomach look like it was taking its last breaths! A horror classic! The book terrified me. The way Gage’s death is described in the book is shocking, paralyzing. This movie did a pretty decent job of adapting the book though. The remake was so disappointing. Fun fact: the actor who played Gage went on to play Michelle Tanner’s bratty friend in Full House.

First mother now pet sematary not what I'd recommend for a new parent. I believe King's novels are all interelated so this technically also occurs in the same universe as salems lot and it. Nasty universe to live in. Fun fact that scene of him falling out of bed wasn't scripted the actor actually did smash his head into the bedside table by accident and it was left in. Props to him for just continuing the scene though.

One of my favorite Stephen King novels. It really shows how grief and loss makes even someone logical do absurd things. Lewis is a doctor. He is familiar with death and knows deep down that sometimes, "dead is better." But his grief makes him ignore all of his instincts and try to bring them back anyway.

In the original novel, it's left ambiguous as to whether he was right about the time or not, she's never described beyond having "dirt in her voice" or something like that. His back is to her, he hears her come in the back door, and her saying "Darling" as she does here is the very last line in the book.

@@tabeccaletford408 If I remember correctly, Stephen mentioned that one of his kids (Owen, I think who would later write "Sleeping Beauties" and "The Curator") had a close call with nearly getting run over by a truck. And his daughter's cat was killed by a truck on the road and her response was verbatim to Ellie's response ("He's not God's cat, he's my cat!"). It was considered "too dark" that King almost considered shelving the book and not getting it published. He felt that this was the moment he "went too far". But, due to wanting to get out of his publishing contract with Doubleday, he decided to hand in the manuscript.
