I was definitely one of the pessimists about this movie! Thankfully, I did hear some early good things without hearing spoilers, and I did get a chance to see this in theater. It was creative, unique, heartfelt, and personal. in other words... special! And like literally everyone else who knows what's coming, I cannot WAIT until this man watches Lego Batman!! 😃

The Lego Movie is 100% CGI */BUT/* they went to great lengths to ensure that every single frame of the movie could actually be constructed from real Legos. When the Master Builders 'get in the zone' and you see the different numbers floating around in the scenes, those are the actual part numbers for the specific Lego pieces being referenced.

Honestly one of my favourite movies of all time. My room is littered with sets and I'm honestly beginning to run out of room.
@ganapatikamesh Жыл бұрын
I’m glad you had such a great time watching this movie. It’s definitely a favorite of mine. I grew up with LEGOs. I got my first set when I was 5 in 1983 and afterwards for birthdays, Christmas, etc I’d get LEGOs as gifts from family and friends. By the time I graduated high school and was heading off to college I had a LEGO city that took up half my room with over 300 minifigures, over 100 vehicles (including a monorail and electric train), and containers full of LEGO bricks not yet used. All of it is actually still in storage containers at my mom’s house. When my niece was 5 I bought her a LEGO set. She has some sets, but just as my sister was really into Barbie and I into LEGO, my niece had her own favorite toys and it wasn’t Barbie or LEGO. She enjoys playing with both from time to time, but she generally didn’t ask for either when out shopping or put them down for gift ideas. She’s much more into video games. She likes the games more than the actual toys. I certainly enjoy the games, too. I had a PC game where you could play as different characters on a LEGO island and I have LEGO Racers for PS2 along with LEGO Star Wars of course. One of my favorite things about this movie is the use of the model numbers at different points along with soooooooo many references to sets that I remember either having or seeing in the catalog as a kid. I still build LEGOs, but have the Architecture series now. I’ll admit as a kid I wanted to grow up and be an architect. However I’m awful at math and absolutely despised geometry class when I took it in high school. So learning that I’d have to learn more of that in college if I wanted to be an architect was when I changed my mind. I have Tour Eiffel, International Space Station, and some of the city skylines sets (San Francisco, London, Tokyo, etc). There’s a LEGO store at one the malls in the big city nearest me that I have been going to since my niece was little. Whenever I’m with family and friends there shopping we pop in to see. I’ve also been to some of the LEGO convention things where folks who build their own things display them. I’ve seen some awesome things! I like how this film brings in a connection to the real world and tells a great story overall. I like the sequel, too. The LEGO films and tv series are all a lot of fun to watch for kids and adults. Definitely good family fun! Great reaction!

One of the best parts of rewatching this movie after the reveal that it was all a kid playing and his imagination is realizing it's EXACTLY how a kid plays with Legos! What I love about the message of this movie is that it teaches you how best to play with lego, which can be a metaphor for everyday living. While creativity is awesome and should be celebrated, a certain amount of order should be kept, and there's times when following the instructions is the better option. When the group was building their submarine, their lack of coordination in building it was likely the cause of it leaking, and when they infiltrate President Business' tower, they follow instructions to create a truck to blend in.
