How to get Statue of Liberty tickets | Reserve, Pedestal, and Crown Tickets | Don't get scammed!

The Statue of Liberty is an iconic landmark and one of the biggest tourist attractions in New York City, but it's on an island...so how do you visit it? There are three types of tickets you can get - Reserve Tickets, Pedestal Reserve Tickets, and Crown Reserve Tickets. All of them get you a boat cruise to the Statue of Liberty, access to Liberty Island, and a visit to Ellis Island. But what's the difference, and which is best? Find out in the video!

Did this a few years ago with son and granddaughter. All the way to the crown! Buy the crown tickets for the climb to the crown as early as possible! Like months before your trip! Always wanted to do this, since I was a kid. Loved it!

Glad to hear you had such a good experience! Do you remember what the company was called? Sounds like it was a little more expensive then a regular ticket, but a good deal if you want a real tour guide (instead of the audio guide on the island).

Firsthand Globetrotting I saw tickets on Groupon. The company is called Viator. Your supposed to get priority going to the Statue with a guide for $57. The reviews for it are actually really good. I didn’t see any $30 tix.

If they are through Viator, then you probably get a guide that comes with you to the island but you'll still go on the same boat and wait in the same lineups as the other people who buy tickets through Statue Cruises. Viator is (usually) a tour reseller, so they probably don't run it themselves but instead are reselling tours offered by a smaller tour provider. If the guide is worth the extra price for you, then it may be worth it if it's a good guide. If you end up doing it, let me know how you like it.

What is the complete duration of the trip, from and to battery park? I have a Grounds only ticket with starting time 1PM from battery park. What time I am expected to return back to battery park?

The trip length really depends on how long you want to stay. Your departure from Battery Park is at a fixed time, but you can then take any boat from the Statue of Liberty to Ellis Island, and any boat from Ellis Island back to Battery Park. So if you are in a rush you can visit really quickly or.you could take the last boat of the day home.

When I was there you could buy them there, but they were already completely sold out for the day (and our boat was one of the first ones in the morning). Your safest bet will be to buy them online well in advance, if you can.

Can we buy a tickets for crown access at the same day? Because there is no tickets available for our date, at your provided website. The pedestal reserve is available only :(

Probably not. There is a small chance they may have some available if you go right when they open, but probably not if they are already sold out online. Especially with the crown tickets, they sell so few that they are very difficult to get.

If you leave from New York, the boats leave from Battery Park.

I recommend going as early as possible. There will be less crowds then and it will make sure you aren't rushed (since you can spend as much time as you want there).

Thank you, I was about to order from Groupon for $55 ea. But the parks site is only $21.50! I suppose the boat ride is not covered with the $21.50..

If you get it directly from the company that the National Park Service lets bring people to the island (Statue Cruises), the price should include both the boat ride and access to the islands (Liberty Island with the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island). When I did it, it was a little under $20 for the Reserve or Pedestal tickets, and a little over $20 for the crown tickets.

It's not a guided tour, so you can spend as long as you want there.

There is a chance the Reserve tickets (Liberty Island, Ellis Island, and ferry ride) may be available for that day, but they could be sold out already (or at a time that doesn't work for you). I'd suggest checking online before making the trip to the ticket window.

To get to the crown there are quite a few stairs and they are quite steep with nowhere to stop for a break. For the pedestal, there aren't quite as many and you could take your time a little more.

I brought crown access ticket. 1.Do I need any other tickets to complete journey? 2.Can I take a hand bag and foods and a bottle of water inside the pedestal and crown? If not where should I deposit my bag? 3. How will I recognize my ship for round trip? What are the time interval for a up and down ship? 4. If I use subway train to reach battery park Google map shows me to get off at south ferry station and there is 12 stops in between them? Can you clear this point? Thanks for your help.

I'll do my best to answer your questions: (1) The ticket you got will give you access to both the boat and the statue, so it should be all you need. (2) You cannot bring food or bags into the statue, but there are lockers you can rent. I think they were pretty cheap, around $2. (3) You will know it's your ship because it says "Statue Cruises" in big letters on the side, and is the only ship that goes to the island. In my video, there are a few clips that show what the boat looks like. I think there were departures ever 20-30 minutes. (4) I think the boats leave near Castle Clinton National Monument at Battery Park, so when I went I got off at the Rector Street Station (1 train) and walked a few blocks to where the boats were. But the Ferry Station will work, too. Hope that helps!

This information is very misleading; it says: "You go directly to the National Park Service website - you buy your tickets from there - it's THE ONLY WAY to get real tickets..." That is not true, you do not buy your tickets from that website, but from www.statuecruises.com

The NPS website links to the official vendor (Statue Cruises) and I have a link to Statue Cruises in the video description. There are some other companies that use similar names and websites to Statue Cruises, so I tell people to go to the official government website since it's easier to tell that it is not a scam.
