Intermittent Fasting is not a fade. Please stop spreading misinformation calling it a fade. Look at the Nobel prize winning work on Autophagy. On October 3, 2016, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Yoshinori Ohsumi for “discoveries of the mechanisms for autophagy.” IF is well explained now and is beneficial. Once 35 yrs old, breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. Give you digestive track break for 12-18 hrs. Constant eating builds up Insulin resistance which is cause of 90% of the present disease humans suffer including diabetes and cancer.

Yes fasting works, but it depends on what one eats in 8hr window, fruits vegetables and unprocessed home cooked food and strict no sugar, then 16hr fasting window in the long term gonna work wonders to one's body and mind. We feel spiritual and calm🎉 also do some minimum physical activities

Benefits of fasting are undisputable but as Palki mentioned its not for everybody. For example, people with acid reflux, GERD problem can't starve themselves for 16 hours to allow acid build up in stomach that can reflux to further damage the situation.

@indiasane9420 16 hrs fasting windows isn't recommended from day 1 or sick body. It's gradual evolvement and then a lifestyle. Curing is different from healing, and fasting belongs to the latter.

Practicing for last 2years apart from fat loss it gives you patience, stops aging, cleanses liver and toxic solids in the intestine. Also a good way to build muscle . started practicing after watching dr.eric berg youtube channel. I believe that preaching us to eat all 3 times and snacking all the day is a strategy built by food industries and politicians through doctors to make our pancreas get exhausted and make money through hospitals and pharma industries built by them.

I have been intermittent fasting every day since March 2019 and I couldn't be happier and healthier (based on my blood tests and medical reports). Then again I thought it's common sense that you shouldn't binge on junk food during the 8-hour window... I loved the neutral take on the topic and the positive message about balance. I suffered from the low energy issue for the first three months and after that my body adapted.

I practice it too, it works amazingly well. It is not very different from 'upvaas' our forefathers do. We eat too much unwanted food. Now let's say you still end up eating pizzas/burgers during intermittent fasting, your body will eventually tell you that those food won't sustain if you want to *play by the rules of the game!* So one has to understand the concept of this before they jump into it. But thank you for covering this topic!

Scientifically accepted fasting is "water-only fasting for 24 hrs up to 5 days continuously" depending on the patient under the doctor's recommended treatment. Intermittent Fasting is not a "fad" first of all. It has numerous health benefits. This video is highly flawed and needs lots of corrections. Firstly, the fasts don't always have to be 16 hrs long , they can be shorter too minimum 12 hours or 13 /14/15 hrs . Secondly, it's basic common sense that one should consume a healthy and a nutritious, balanced diet in the eating window. Junk food is always discouraged for good health. The benefits of IF are beyond any of the baseless points this lady has come up with. Also, FYI Intermittent fasting is a way of eating , NOT A DIET.

This video seems to be from the perspective of the food industry or the pharmaceutical industry or from people who are in self denial and not willing to go through the fasting window. The video seems more to deter people from attempting to get healthy and thereby promoting processed foods and slimming medications. Intermittent fasting is an old idea, and it works. Its primary objective is to improve your health. However you do loose weight because weight-loss is the result of improved health. Intermittent Fasting must be combined with good quality and appropriate quantity of foods, otherwise it will not address the root cause of your worsening health condition. I have been doing intermittent for the past 7 years and I follow (1) Avoid all sugars, grains and starches - e.g. potatoes convert to sugar! in the body (2) Avoid all processed/ultra processed foods - our grains (e.g. wheat etc.) are GMO, grown with chemical pesticides, (3) Avoid foods cooked with vegetable or seed oils because they are highly processed - I have only milk butter, ghee, coconut oil etc. (4) Avoid gluttony or over-eating - I eat when I am hungry, stop when satiated.

One of the more shallow reports from Palki..I expected a little better..given the other great reporting.. No one is an expert and intermittent fasting is not only about avoiding eating in the fasting window..it constitutes eating right in the eating window..Dont blame the method just because internet carries trash ..I have personally tried this and it works..and who said it is only 16 hours? Why highlight that and scare people away from a beneficial practice?

Palki doing half baked research as usual, missing completely to mention latest Nobel winning research on science of autophagy that is the basis of IF. Trying to peddle outdated myths of British Raj about balanced diets, eating on time and marketing for need for personal nutritionists over time tasted methods and hard science 😂

It is not Greece, but India is the origin of fasting. The West has always ignored India while coming up with the history books.

At the outset, I would recommend everyone to go through the small article by Desmond Morris, a renowned Anthropologist, ‘a little bit of what you fancy’. I am sure, none will ever discuss about the diet again after that.

Friends Intermittent Fasting comes from the way our genes evolved. Humans are not the strongest of animals in the wild, when we were wild like more then million years may be. Definitely more then the time we have starting civilization. In wild human would not be eating all the time. Humans will be a food source if they venture out between dusk to dawn, very poor eyesight at night. Predators can see well. Now about food, watch any predator. They don't get food every day. Most times a human would be lucky in three or four days to get a hunt. And when we get we had to feast, that is fill up as much possible. And then it was fast again till the next hunt. You can not store the flesh even for few hours. No fridge but most important if you pull the kill to you hiding place, it will attract predators. Only other food source could have been fruits and nuts. Remember they are seasonal. So human eating habits and the genetic makeup and the chemical physiology is of "Feasting and Fasting". That is why Intermittent Fasting (IF) works for us. @Firstpost, PLEASE include medical evidence like to paddle any such video next time. I can give you a million medical research links showing IF works and must be mandatory for all humans above 35 yrs age.

This is not a fad… I’m doing intermittent fasting for last 1 and half years… not only I’m more energetic… I have lost those extra kilos… and it also reduces the aging process… before calling it a fad… you can try once and then come here to say if it impacted you negatively 🙄

I have been one of your earliest admirers and I will most probably be so but on Pharma or diet topics you irk me really. Your quote: "IF barely ever talks about what to eat during eating window." Then talk about what you should eat during that period Palki, instead of scaring away people. You said you would tell us the "full" story. What a confidence! Don't bundle IF with "fad" (as you call) diets because IF is not a diet! It is the natural way of taking one's diet (16+8, atleast is natural). If you increase fat in your diet and reduce carbs you CAN sustain hunger pangs. (Now this leads to another debate with you. I am not asking one to do full keto but to increase fat to carb ratio) I did it that way for 3 years with full keto. And I got rid of many health issues. Most prominently my brain fog. Now I eat 2 meal a day normally and I am quite comfortable. IF is not making a grinder out of your mouth. And hunger pangs are because of the refined foods. There are thousands of doctors not quacks prescribing IF and Keto. Why do you still talk scarily? Have a conversation with eminent doctors like Dr Jason Fung instead! In fact IF deals with Insulin resistance. Start working on a story on Insulin resistance you will find yourself talking opposite of all this! Every time you eat your pancreas releases insulin. You may end up with Insulin resistance. It is what science says. Where is the problem? As far as the so called studies are concerned, you as a news researcher know better about them than us. And you are suggesting people not to follow so called "Fad" diets based on internet stories. Well I would say one should not give up the idea of taking to IF based on your talk on the same internet but to read authoritative books on IF by well known doctors such as Dr Jason Fung and non-doctor heroes such as Ivor Cummins. Please don't be so insensitive to our lived experience. PS. Large fibre in the food you eat, lemon with rock salt during fasting are key to success in sustaining IF.

I don't fast but I have a limited amount of intake .Sometimes liquid Sometimes semi liquid sometimes dry and solid .I don't eat the same variety always .No soda, vinegar, and no aginamoto chienese salt, citric acid nor much spices . Basic cooking in coconut milk ,coconut cream and coconut oil or ghee . Every food should be cooked in oil pertaining to the masala we use .All grains one by one must be used ,like millets, ragi, wheat, rice, arrowroot, tapioca powder etc Yet the combo must be right .Only then we can have a perfect healthy life style.Fasting is not the right choice.

I have done intermittent fasting and got a lot of benefits. It is a life-style not a one time deal for a period of time. You have forgotten to mention Buddhism where monks has a life style of 6-18 style intermittent fasting for the whole life as a monk. There are reasons behind these practices. Yes, if you eat pizza and other non healthy food during the eating window, it will not work for weight lost. But a sensible healthy food taken during the eating window, it will do a lot of good for your body.

Intermittent diet with the right knowledge of how to eat clean and healthy within the time frame work wonderfully. Bad eating habbits, including starving yourself then bulge eating, are the trouble makers. Avoid all types of sugars and high processed carbs (like cakes, donuts, sweet desserts and snacks) at all time with keeping at a smaller portion are the keys in any types of diet.

Intermittent fasting is not monster like you are scaring people.people are eating like crazy throughout their life still they live and a little restriction will help them instead.even if you cant strictly follow diet but trying and doing your best is better than blindly eating what you are eating till now.being conscious about diet and making healthy choices always help.

The other issue is everyone has different genetic make up and dietary requirements. Some diets work well for some people and not for others. I suggest people try a diet and see how they feel and get their body to give them feedback in determining what the right diet is for them

One can keep 10 hrs or 11 or even 12 hrs eating window , they can eat healthy veg or non veg but not over eating, in remaining fasting hours don't eat any thing , do exercise, pranayama they will release ur happy harmones, , day time eating window is good, sleep is more essential, all our grand grand parents were doing this, but now we r calling it as intermittent - India 💐💐💐
