Hey David, thanks for this video. It was very helpful. I'm working as a Private English Tutor in Mumbai, India, for over last three years. By 'private' I mean that i'm working independently by sourcing students from a couple of apps. Prior to that I had been working in the writing industry here in Mumbai for quite a few years, as a sub-editor, journalist, content writer, editor, subtitlist, etc. Now, with the lockdown due to our new guest, the Corona Virus, I'm working on a plan to go online, with a dual purpose - working with online platforms like Cambly and taking my tiny class online, by looking for students on Facebook etc. I hope that the FB page that I'm currently setting up for my English class, tentatively named N B English, would help me get students from FB account and other social media. Thankfully, I have already been teaching expats living and working in Mumbai coming from countries like Japan, South Korea, Russia and Israel. Let's see how it works out. If it does, the credit would also go to you because of your informative and educative videos. Thanks a lot. - Ninad

Thanks again, David! I am grateful that your videos are so detail oriented. Unlike any videos that I have seen within this profession. Bravo! By the by, finally finished with my TESOL exam. Whew! Almost forgot, do you have a referral link?

Hey Becca! No, Italki doesn't do one for teachers. I just have a $10 off code for new students as they sponsor 1 video a month

Hi just wanna know, if you are a new teacher of italki and you yourself is still familiarizing with the platform, could it be possible that you will get a trial lesson request?

What are you doing with students who don't speak the language at all?
@davidostrowski6792 жыл бұрын
I generally work with B1-C2. Teaching online doesn't really work for complete beginners unless you speak their language. I've had a couple of Spanish and German speakers at this level before, I can speak both to a certain level but I'm not fluent

Sorry but how long it takes normally a trial lesson or a normal lesson on Italki? 1 hour ? 55 minutes ? Thank you for your videos. I would like to apply as a Community Tutor at Italki because I didn't have a TEFL qualification

It depends on the set up of the airbnb. This isn't my home, it was just an airbnb I filmed this in about 6 months ago
