We try to experience as much culture as possible. One of the best (and yummiest) ways to do that is to eat the local food. We attend Fish Fry Friday and then try to catch a few lobsters of our own. Taking public transportation, eating the delicious food, and trying to live off the land is all part of living like locals in Grenada.

This video made my day! While I was guiding at Walker's Cay in the Bahamas some of my Bahamian friends taught me this trick about using a flyswatter instead of a tickle stick while lobstering. Didn't really believe it would work however it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Hey guys another great video. If you watch this video on youtube there are some good tips on catching lobster (we call them crayfish). This is not my video but it shows how we do it here. You just need good gloves. Heavy duty gardening gloves work well too :-) check put: Freediving for crayfish in New Zealand

In Southern California (San Diego) we aren't allowed to use any type of sticks or tools to catch lobster. 100% by hand only. Best time to catch them is night, or dawn/dusk. They come out from their hiding places and are walking around on the ocean floor looking for food. The best method is to approach them from above/behind and "pin" them to the ground with your hand. You have to be purposeful with your movement...if you hesitate, they will get away! Once you have a firm grip, put them in a lobster bag or just swim them up to the boat. Good luck!

I've never used a tickle stick and haven't heard of one being used till recently. I've always done it the old fashioned way of just grabbing them. I'm not sure which way is better but the old school way is defiantly fast.

The best boat was the real Tula the Trawler, it always reminded me of Popeye the sailor man and his beautiful girlfriend Olive oyl, it was romantic and unique, almost everyone else who has a boating channel on KZbin has a sailboat however Tula the trawler was and still is one of a kind !

It's great to see your experiences in Grenada!...the people there are awesome though the last time I was there I was exchanging small arms fire with Cubans and Haitian mercs...different times amigos...also I saw what happened to SV Zingaro...has that prompted you to inspect Adrenaline for any structure issue?

Nice video. Lobster tips. Wear a weight so you can rest on the ground. Tap them on the back of the tail with the stick and they will walk out. Don't try to pry or push them. Once they are out in the open or out of the hole, put the net behind them tilted own against the ground. Then tap them on the front gently and they will walk back into the net. Then snap net down flat on ground and grab the net and lobster and wala.... Good luck.

They are sun shirts that prevent you from getting sunburnt. You wear them when the sun is out and you are on the water, in the pool or hiking. I bought all my grandkids those shirts last spring and they work great. Also cuts down on having to repeatedly applying sunscreen to the parts of the body that the shirts cover.
