Do not take more than 2000mg of dha and epa a day because it will thin the blood too much. I like this dr because he does not threaten us with illness. He gives us hope, talking about the health benefits. This will lift up our mood, mind, give us hope and joy. In the meantime, maybe you can purchase it occasionally, just to show support. Please believe me, it'll keep growing. But we all need to pitch in. I would love to hear your opinion about which is the best EPA vs DHA ratio in Omega 3 supplements. I know that one helps lower inflammation while the other one is good for the brain. At the same time I was reading a study which revealed that a large amount of DHA actually counteracts EPA's benefits thus it's recommended to take a supplement that has a lot more EPA than DHA.
@Hesteverest

Both are anti inflammatory. While DHA is known for being a building block in the brain, DHA has not as of yet been shown to improve cognitive function, but has been shown to potentially increase LDL and triglycerides. @Kennethopdahl
@Kennethopdahl 3 жыл бұрын
Epa and dha are volatile fatty acids, meaning that they can go rancid/oxidize easily. A lot of the natural protection from oxidation is stripped away with the heavy metal cleansing process the manufacturers are obliged to do. And adding the right antioxidants back is costly. That's why when tested 95% of ppl taking a random omega3 supplemt still don't get to a healthy balance of 3;1 in omega6 to 3.

@@Kennethopdahl what about Carlson's fish oil?
@Kennethopdahl
@Kennethopdahl 3 жыл бұрын
@@cmhardin37 I haven't seen anyone personally using Carlsons fish oil. From the bottle, it seems fairly decent. With 1300mg og combined epa and dha. To get get to a great level of 8% epa+dha in the blood, one would need to triple the dosage, to a total of 3-4g a day. With this being said, the process of cleaning fish oil for heavy metals, most of the natural polyphenols and other molecules helping the omega3 to stay fresh and not go rancid in the fish are removed, and these need to be added back again. This is why you see almost all omega3s having vitamin e and some sort of herb oil, like peppermint, rosemary, etc added. Though, these additives are expensive, and most manufacturers do not care to add enough. In a recent study from Norway 9/10 store bought brands of omega3 went rancid within 10h after administered, and the digestive system needs up to 36 hours to fully take up the epa and dha, this is a big problem. Consistently, clients I work with that take the omega3 test and who have been taking an omega3 brand from the store gets a omega6:3 ratio of 7:1 or worse. To stay in the optimal range you want to to be 3:1 or lower.

I wonder about the soft gel caps is that actually bad or good for people. when I was a kid many years ago my grandparents and parents used to make uis kids take a spoonfull of cod liver oil daily ( yes back then it taisted gross) but now that I Oam older I am not which to buy becsaue its seems more expensive, I bought a small bottle of it and it cost 27 CAD it lasted maybe a month the softgel caps seem cheaper but not sure if the caps are good or bad forme, I do find it currious becsaue back in my childhood the bottles were very cheap and allot larger then now it is like they upped the prices 2000% just because it is good for people

You are right, optimal heath is all about the diet, but 98% of people in USA do not eat a healthy diet. They eat junk food, canned food, processed food. Those people should definitely take supplements and also those who just don't eat enough to get the vitamins, minerals and healthy fats to sustain them.

When people and companies selling the Omega-3 supplement they always talk about EPA, DHA and sometimes DPA. But these are not the only Omega-3 FA, there are like 11 of them. What is with the other ones? Because I thought that the human body cannot synthesize Omega-3 FA in general, so 7 fatty acids would be missing. Are those just not as researched as the ones above or are they commen in other plants like ALA? I just don't get why when someone says Omega-3 fatty acids, everybody just thinks of EPA, DHA, DPA and ALA... And especially why the supplements only contain the 3 acids named above
