I like using a high speed pickup for livewell. pushes as you run.

I agree. We use a device called a EZ pump that fits over the bronze thru hull and picks up water at speed. We just didn't have them installed in the video because they were back ordered. Thanks for watching!

Man that was a lot of work,glad all those thru hulls and valves are done !!Think that took about 3 hours in real time not counting planning the placement and drilling all the holes.Definitely a two man job for sure.Good video and explanation Capt Joe 👍👍

Well done, my friend! I have a question: if the livewell rule pump is mounted on the transom and the boat starts planing above the waterline, won't the pump start sucking air? Wouldn't it be better to mount the hull fitting and pump on the hull below the waterline so the pump can always draw water, even at high speeds?

Thank you! Yes, that's a good observation on your part. Normally having thru hulls out the stern would be an issue, but a company by the name of T and H marine makes a product called EZ pump. It mounts over the thru hull on the outside of the boat, and extends down to the hull bottom and acts as a water scoop when the boat is running. They had to backorder them and they didn't make it in time for the video. Hope that helps, and I appreciate your comment!

That tool you used to hold the thru hull on the outside from spinning, what is it & where can you get 1 I’ve been using a pc of aluminum stock that I wrestle with 🤪 & thanks for the tip on T&H EZ pump u mentioned in a previous question. Glad you are enjoying the videos! The thru hull step down tool is kind of a specialty tool that you don't see very often in stores. The one we used in the video is owned by my brother Mark. I will see if I can find a source on them for you guys, and mention it in our videos, or put it in the links in the thru hull installation video. You can also make a thru hull tool by taking a 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive socket that has the same outside diameter as the inside diameter of the thru hull, and cut two slots or keyways into the socket that index into the slots on the inside of the thru hull. I don't have a bulge hole in the fiberglass boat to drain out the water in the winter..I keep my boat in the water all summer. ....can I get some guidance on what it best practice to put a hole into my 16 FT fiberglass cutty...plastic, threaded brass... and what would I use to plug the hole when in the water. Thank you for your help.

I like threaded Bronze preferably, that is what we put in our custom 29 ft charter boat. Either 4200 or 5200 made by 3M is a good choice for sealant. This video should have a lot of the info you would need. Just adjust the hole saw size to the size of your bronze fitting. Hope this helps. Thanks!

Fantastic build. just subed. Perhaps this has been covered and I may have missed it but here is my question. On your water intake your using a flush mount instead of a scoop. when under way on plain how does the flush fitting pick up water? At low speed or at rest I can see no issue. And I know you have this figured out. Thanks for the series.

Thanks, and welcome to the channel! We installed transom mount scoops over the thru hulls. They are made by a company called T and H marine, they are called EZ pump. Sometime it is hard to document everything in the build, but I will try to make a video that shows them installed. Hope that answers your question, and I really appreciate you watching! What do all those though hulls go to? Seems like a lot. I think 15 mins is a good length for videos like this.

The 4 small thru hulls are water intakes for the 3 live wells and the saltwater washdown pump. The large thru-hull in the top middle is the drain for the live well under the seat behind the console. The 2 large thru hulls on the outer edges are the outlets for the drains in the floor of the cockpit. For a boat like this that a pretty normal setup. I think we will be making the videos around this length more often when possible. Appreciate the feedback, and thanks for watching!
