it's expensive to do it my way but i've had a lot of fun in the past putting at least 2 nightcrawlers on a #2 eagle claw wide bend hook and i just kind of slowly retrieve it and give it a little pop every so often so the worms kind of flail around with a bit of an octopus like motion.. i do the same thing with rubber worms but don't catch quite as many. the most comfortable medium i've found is putting 1 rubber worm and 1 nightcrawler so i get the octopus action.. little better logistics too haha

Pubgnoob_23 _ yep! Throwing a whole night crawler on a 2/0 baitholder hook, no weight so it stays in the strike zone longer.

You could Texas rig it. I was using a bait holder hook for better hookup ratio. Since I didn’t intend on working the bait on the bottom I didn’t need it to be weedless

Better Odds Fishing thats good advice for a hookset but it still doesnt explain how they dont steal your worm. In the ponds around me theres so many panfish that everything hanging below the hook gets devoured in seconds pretty much as soon as a worm hits the water they swarm it like a pack of pirahnas i think this is more what his question had to do with opposed to anything to do with actually landing a fish.

Probably go through alot of worms but the benefit here in Idaho is you aren't excluding all the other fish species you could potentially catch

Make sure if you run into a school of bluegill or other small fish to switch locations or cast outside of where the group is. They usually won’t chase too much and sometimes bass will be around waiting for them to leave the cover. Best of luck out there
