I cannot overstate how much I love each and every aspect of your channel. The way you seamlessly meld a flawless big-picture approach with highly accurate examples and analogies, as well as put in a ton of effort into your analytical approach makes all your content like the Holy Bible of Fishing and leaves others eating dust! You are, in my opinion, one of the most perfect anglers the world has ever seen right up there with Clunn and Lindner. I hope someday my content can be half as good as yours! Keep up the incredible work!

Thanks for providing another "non-forward facing sonar" video. Videos limited to 2D and side-imaging units are getting harder and harder to find... apparently those of us who will never be able to afford forward facing sonar (or think the technology has gone too far) are being ignored more and more. I appreciate your efforts to not forget us!

It's still a very important tool I use every time I go to the lake and many anglers are ignoring it in place of Forward Facing Sonar. I'll continue to use traditional sonar in all videos going forward.

On a new body of water or if you're struggling, you can troll a suspending mid diving crankbait while looking for fish with a primary search bait that you're casting and a lot of times you'll find the fish by accident. This is when zig zagging shallow to deep can really pay off and surprise you.

This was the biggest thing for me to get over and I mostly salmon fish on the Great Lakes now. I’ve learned if I don’t see what I like I’m going searching before giving up and setting rods in. (Usually bait, fish water temps or current seams for me)

Hmmm, watching this video and then hearing our heartfelt thoughts on your live stream with Matt the other day has me conflicted. I absolutely think you were onto something in that live stream about being efficient using livescope by just popping up to sweet spots and panning around for awhile to see what you see.

Thank you Jonny for sharing your comprehensive fish finding processes and experiences with us. I always learn a lot and will try to do more graphing analysis ahead of casting-but as other viewers shared, it will be difficult to not break out the rods at the first sign of a fishy looking area. Interesting bass locations are changing. Question: Do you think overall bass populations have declined? What do you think?
@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 9 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! I'm not qualified enough to comment on bass populations, but I have seen lakes go through down-turns for 10-15 years when the size and quantity of bass are low and then rebound to be a great lake again. My understanding is that it depends on the lake conditions and habitat over a long period of time. Not an expert on that though!

Great video Jonny thank you! Do you have a dedicated battery just for your electronics?
@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 9 ай бұрын
Yes. I have a dedicated Lithium battery for all my electronics. I'm only running 2 graphs right now (1 at the trolling motor and 1 at the console) so it's not 100% necessary, but I also run cameras and other filming gear off of it.

@@FishtheMoment Im finding out that just a direct wire to the battery from each unit is not enough to get the crisp clear images.I have Other things on that house battery,not always being used but on it.Also it is a lead batterry.A dedicated lithium batterry is the way to go , i dont have the room or the money .I will just have to settle with what i have.I was going crazy wondering how all these other units are soooo clear.I know now. Thanks Jonny nothing beats time on the water.
@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 9 ай бұрын
A dedicated Lithium does help image quality, especially with Forward Facing Sonar. It's not that big of a difference with traditional sonar in my experience though. Time on the water is king! I wish I had more of it nowadays!

Great video! I fish a very clear lake and all too often fall back on sight fishing for smallmouth. I’m learning from you to find those offshore fish, which I believe receive almost no pressure. It IS going to take some time, but I’m patient and more than anything, I like fishing where there are no other fishermen. Also I know where the smallmouth end up, but not how they got there. That last part will require electronics. I have ‘em, but don’t use ‘em like I should so thanks for the nudge! 😊

@@FishtheMoment when I saw your post on those a few years ago, I had been using pretty cheap bait casters anyhow. I have about 10 of the black max 3. I believe two of the new black max red handle. To me they are all smoother operating that any of the old Garcia 5500s etc.

Only in fishing do people complain when newer generations get better and faster at a sport. I thought the whole goal was to get better and more efficient. Sounds like a bunch of people are salty they aren’t the only ones hammering fish anymore… the fish aren’t in your old spots anymore, things change, time to revamp your game plan it’s part of the sport.

Not to be persnickety, but 3,000 hours? Really? Thats 75 weeks at 40 hours per week. When do you fish?
@FishtheMoment
@FishtheMoment 4 ай бұрын
I've been making KZbin videos and fishing Full-Time for my job for 5 Years. I usually graph 4-6 hours per fishing day 3 days per week. 4 hours per day X 3 Days Per Week X 52 Week Per Year X 5 years = 3,120 hours. That doesn't even include the 10 years I spent graphing before I started fishing full time, so 3,000 hours is a very conservative estimate.
