Some of the best startups are by experienced start uppers .... Fisker went through a huge learning pattern, with automotive, and has a major partner involved on the manufacturing side. So risk, of course! And guts! And the guy is a genius designer, so design is on his side. Would be a great addition to the marketplace! Hope it works out, they're already selling and yeah: esp needs finetuning on a high power new model... what's new?? Seems like this car is a want-to-have with a Rivian style appeal. Thanks for the preliminary test (review) results!

Not too concerned about Fisker going bankrupt. It could happen with any company. My reasoning being: They lost 80mil last quarter but have a cash runway of about 800mil plus another 300 in convertible notes. They are outsourcing manufacturing, so yes less profit margin but also less overheads and start up costs. I honestly believe the Ocean (assuming bugs can be ironed out) will be among the best selling crossover SUVs in the coming years. With instant profit from their first cars, they could simply throttle back development of other cars and be profitable within 3-6 months. I just hope they don't get greedy, like you mentioned, launching 4 cars as a start up is a tad ambitious.

I’m awaiting my Fisker Extreme and I believe it’s different this time around for Fisker. Remember, his previous company he was trying to do it all himself and the cars were for high end customers. Special Niche. This time around he’s outsourcing to one of the largest Manufacturers in the world. Also, the Ocean is for a family. Just like all the other startups, when they started, the software will be fixed. Give them time. I bought for the design and to be a dolphin 🐬 in an Ocean 🌊 of jellyfish 🪼 😅

A previous bankrupt is probably the best thing in your CV if you are building a new car provided you are truly passionate about cars. And Henrik is that. I chose another car for my order over Fisker Ocean because its exterior design is too busy for my taste. I was also aware of the bugs the car will likely face initially. However, none of these make it a bad company or a bad car. I can especially see the design is attractive for many. A one man car company will do well thanks to the intensity of passion and the vision as long as he can sort out the financials and supply chain by recruiting great professionals around him. Also one thing many people jump over Fisker is that the model Pear will give them a huge boost if they can make it to 2025 and deliver initial units. As they are now, I personally wouldn't to drive a Fisker or Tesla daily over mine, but I am invested in both. Fisker, a calculated risk. Tesla, a whole another dimension in future.

The Alaska is definitely necessary and will sell like fresh bread. The current EV trucks are massive, and can hardly fit in most garages. Not sure about the Pear or that offroad Ocean, we could do without those. The Ronin seems cool and we know millennials are the richest generation in history due to the massive inheritance. Offering 6 seats and off-road package for the Alaska makes sense. The Pear can come at a much later date, perhaps 5 years in. Hopefully their engineers can make room for a frunk in the Alaska. All ev Pickups need a fully functional frunk. Also, having a 6 seat option would make the Alaska attractive for construction sites.

Personally I think the battery is too big and who needs 550 hp for normal daily driving. You’re just paying to haul around a big silly battery you probably won’t need for most journeys. I do disagree with the Viking on the model lineup though. The pick up market is massive in some countries and there’s a massive hole in the market for a car like the pear, ie mass market, smaller, cheaper electric car. When it goes on sale it’ll have maybe one or two competitors but its distinctive and VW have a lot of work to rebuild their electric car rep. As for the sports car; every brand needs a halo car. If anything, it’s great for marketing.

To gain attention and desire, a startup can really benefit from a charismatic leader, who the press is fascinated by. Like Elon Musk or Steve Jobs. As long as he has trusted advisors who he listens to, who insist on debugging and correcting quality issues before the product hits the market. But if the charismatic leader is too much of a loose cannon, his impatience and his desire to WOW the public can lead to unkept promises, crazy product claims, and anachievable goals. That stuff can waste loads of money exactly when it needs to be spent sparingly. I hope Fisker can succeed this time without blowing up his company.

First shock of this article is - somone actually bought an Ocean! Next shock, Fisker have done the usual to try and increase range by using a massive 113kWh battery, which is exactly what EV designers SHOULD NOT be doing - it adds weight, cost and uses even more minerals and metals. This is all about trying to offset customer range anxiety, but it's becoming a bigger problem as more manufacturers turn to it - it's not an engineering or scientific fix, it's a brute force approach and doesn't benefit anyone in the end.

My thought exactly.. i want to see this things efficiency.. watts per mile.. cause it sounds like its pretty crap. This is a small cross over ute.. to have 370 max range with a LARGE battery.. is kinda lame. And it’s stuck on CCS charging, the other huge miss. Fisker shows a lack of foresight again. The engineering under the hood is clearly lack luster.. no frunk.. understeer.. huge battery.. all screams, OLD hat lazy, inefficient engineering. Not what I’m buying if i have access to a better option. And clearly, we all do. And good to luck to anyone buying one of these and needs service outside of cali. Nope.. no way.. wouldn’t touch this company for years. If they pull their shit together and improve their designs, software, service and efficiency.. and add NACS.. ok.. when you hit all that, lemme know Fisker.

Ah! An interesting review and I’m loving various aspects of the design. HOWEVER… when you said it understeers, you totally lost me. An understeering vehicle shows it has not been engineered fully. The development of the front end is super critical in an all wheel drive car. Audi have tried for decades to get their all wheel drive cars to not under steer and have failed. This shows that the front end has not been fully developed by highly skilled engineers. It’s a dangerous car to drive at high speed as you will lose control by the third or fourth correction. Whereas a vehicle that has had proper engineering will steer beautifully from the first input. It’s shows the suspension engineers are very good at their job and know how to make all the movements of the suspension parts work properly in turning into a corner and out again. If the Fiskar understeers, then it’s only developed to the level of an slightly better than average urban run about. My Tesla Model Y has virtually NO understeers or oversteer. I’m getting the ‘toe out on compression’ attitude seen to in a couple of months by a racing tuner of some note. Then it will definitely handle on a far greater level than the Fiskar ever could. This review upsets me in that it exposes how the Fiskar engineers aren’t able to build out the understeering front end which compromises the entire vehicle. Such a shame as it looks like they have added some really lovely touches such as the lowering rear glass. But the Model Y is a far superior car.

@@Biggus_Dickus_Incontinenta_Btx ESP not working as they said in the video. TMY has the highest Euro NCAP safety score of any car; the Ocean is not even tested yet I guess. And of course no crash when mindless drivers trust autopilot too much since it does not have it yet - it’s on the rather long list of features still to be developed. Good luck with that😂

@@hakonklausen4429the ESP has already been fixed. Very few cars don’t get 5 star NCAP 😂. As I said Tesla have the worst recall record, phantom braking issues and just google autopilot crash. Good luck in your boring blancmange, I bought an S in 2019 and will never get another one. Poor quality, unreliable and unsafe. 👋

@@Biggus_Dickus_Incontinenta_Btx I am talking about the real score behind the start; TMY has for instance an adult occupant score of 97%, compared to e.g. a VW ID.4 with 93. And a safety assist score of 98%, with the ID.4 at 85. And if your latest experience with Tesla is a US built S 4 years ago you are sorely out of touch.

@@hakonklausen4429they are all 5 star NCAP scores, the difference is mainly software safety features that are consistently recalled because they have flaws many years into production. It’s pathetic the Muskovites who don’t accept any criticism of their blancmange on wheels. Every car has pros and cons, grow up. I drove one of the first Y from China into the UK and it had the worst ride of any car I’ve driven and the same poor quality with peeling paint, panel gaps and poor paint finish. Bye 🤡

Until there’s an EV that has 600mi of range on a full battery, I won’t be buying one. I love Tesla’s, don’t get me wrong I think they’re pretty, but I’ll never buy any of them until they can at least DOUBLE the range. Thanks for the video, pal!

200 Km/h "not that fast"? There are only a handful of motorways left in Germany where such speeds are allowed. In most places the speed limit is 120 or 130 km/h, and in areas with "smart" motorways the speed is often limited to 90 or 110 km/h. Due to the aerodynamics of the SUV, I can only assume that efficiency will drop exponentially at higher speeds, so if the "new owner" is not impressed by EV range, a little reminder of the laws of physics would go a long way. Similarly, about understeer and ESP, physics are not an opinion... if he managed to aquaplane it, it's driver inexperience before electronics!

Yes, it's simple. At 200 km/h wind resistance is 4 times as much as driving 100 km/h. Some of the functions are the same, like aircon, but still if car consumes 20 kWh at 100 km/h, it's easy to have 50 kWh/100 km at the speed of 200 km/h. 500 km range would drop to 200 km.

Fisker is shooting his shot, in full knowledge that this is his last chance to push his ideas onto people - he knows the end is now inevitable and wants his moment of glory first. This is the guy who shafted Tesla but doing dull designs for them and stalling repeatedly so that he could secretly build his own - much better - designs. Tesla cottoned on and fired him.

This car will never be mass produced if the way they assemble them is as what was shown in the video. Basically these are hand assembled making this extremely expensive. Fisker will never be able to compete against the luxury of a Mercedes EV and they will sell at a loss if they cannot demand the prices that Mercedes do. I.E. They will go out of business. You either can ramp up a highly automated production to 100's of thousands and try to sell to upper middle class folks OR you can go ultra luxury but hand build everything and try to compete with Mercedes. Tesla already owns that middle ground however and will soon own the low-end market with their gen 3 car made in their new Mexican giga factory. So Fisker will have to figure out how to undercut Tesla or go high end. Looking at Lucid, I don't see much hope in that route. Good luck competing with Mercedes!!

Yeah, don't buy cars that risk to be orphaned. That includes the Chinese cars this channel relentlessly promotes as it talks them up as much as it talks down western EVs because when Chine invades Taiwan spare parts for those will be hard to come by as the West cuts economic ties.
