Theory time. The split between the groups happened because of the Quintessons. Maybe they conquered them and doing so decided to split them into 2 groups based on symbols, and gave 1 group more power over the other. Eventually both groups overthrew the Quintessons . But because of the racial divid, they grew to resent each other over the different treatment. The higher powers decided to simply split apart and live on their own halves away from the other.

That's certainly possible! It seems like the Quintessons know about Zertonians at least, so it seems plausible that they have a history. The question of why they'd leave them alone for so long is worth asking, though. It could definitely be due to the two groups fighting them off. Or maybe it's possible that whatever Quintesson presence there was on Zertonia/Agorra left when it seemed like the planets would be consumed by the sun, and they never returned because they assumed the Zertonians and Agorrians all died? I've also been wondering about the forehead gems and Darak's purple/pink blood in this issue...the craziest theory I have is that both factions are biomechanical creations of the Quints, but there's no real evidence of that at this point. But maybe the forehead gems were, as you suggest, a sign of Quintesson occupation that persisted after they left. An interesting thought, to be sure...

Very excited to see where Void Rivals goes. Glad to see that the Quintessons are getting even more panel time, and that they may become a major player in this book. Now when I think Transformers and keys, I think of the Key to Vector Sigma (and also Cyber Planet Keys). Now this is probably a huge stretch, but I do see some similar design elements. I don’t think the two are directly connected, but perhaps the similar designs are meant to make the reader think back to the Key to VS. Very curious to where this goes.

Good call on the key! I assumed it would be directly connected to the Sacred Ring, but it could be significant to the Quintessons or Cybertronians. I think it's definitely significant that the judge seemed more interested in the Zertonians side of things and so far we've only seen the Zertonians being the ones that have a more mystical side with belief in Zerta, Keepers of the Light, and "objects of power." Definitely curious to see how all that factors in.

The skuxxoid scene in the last issue with Shockwave felt really out of place for me but this issue is starting to make that side plot come together in a satisfying way.
@Moonbase3 Жыл бұрын
I agree! The previous scene with Shockwave would have been so weird and random if they had just totally dropped that thread. 😂

At first I thought the Quintinessons plot was going nowhere but now I think we are going somewhere I wonder if the Quintinessons made some dealing with the Zertonians in the past I do love that we are getting new face in void rival really helps the feel of an 80s toyline ready to happen
@Moonbase3 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really seems like the Quintesson plot is building towards something. There seems to be some history there. Can't wait to see what it is! Your comment about the toyline waiting to happen is spot on - there were a few letters published in this issue from readers who wanted to see Void Rivals turned into a toyline. Could be cool to see!

it would be nice to see the new junkion characters being used Axelgrease and Trashmaster would be fun to see

I've watched Headmasters along with Masterforce, Victory and Zone. They sure are 80s anime...

I would like to watch them mostly just to have watched them and have a better grasp of how the JG1 continuity diverged from Sunbow, but yeah, I had a hard time getting into it.

@@Moonbase3 I wonder if we're going to be seeing a hybrid origin for the Transformers? Primus followed by Quintesson tampering or such.

@@Galacticbreaker Good question! I'm very curious about that as well. I'm definitely wondering how much freedom Skybound has with that stuff, too.

I'd like to see some brand new stuff done here and not rehash plot mechanisms. I guess its difficult given there are so many iterations of the franchise. And all the do is retread
@Moonbase3 Жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying in regards to the Transformers side of things, but I think Void Rivals adds an all-new wrinkle to this take on the franchise. Hopefully that will become more apparent when Void Rivals starts interacting with the established Transformers universe more directly. It's still early days, after all, so I think it's likely that - given enough time - Skybound will branch out from the heavy G1 inspiration they're starting with.
