Fun fact: The Subaru Outback was originally a trim level for the Subaru Legacy. In 1994 Subaru released the Legacy Outback to help get into the newly growing SUV market. The Legacy Outback did so well that Subaru released the Subaru Outback as its own car with its own set of trim levels in 2000. The Subaru Outback now comes in 9 trim levels and has been through 6 generations so far.

I have the 2017 Subaru Outback Limited with the boxer 6 engine and it runs great. I got all the bells and whistles with it and it has been the best new car we ever purchased. My wife loves it and it was supposed to be my car but alas, she drives it the most.

Wagons are also safer than a traditional SUV. They have bigger crumple zones and don’t tip over like Tall SUVs do.

Mazda has a sky active engine and a non cvt transmission. Mazda engines rarely will need repair and are one of the most reliable engines in the game. They are extremely underrated. Subaru is great but the cvt transmission will need maintenance every 10k miles or it can fail and will need to be replaced. If you were to decide on a car that needed a little bit less maintenance then Mazda would be a great pick. I’m still torn between the two my dealerships here in San Jose are always behind. Not all of them. I really like Outback.

@slimtny9 ай бұрын
My wife's 2017 Touring has not aged well. Especially the interior materials. It currently has 65k on it, the steering wheel leather pealed off around 25k, they would not warranty it. The foam strip behind the dash and the windshield has constantly come up, the panel gaps on the interior have gotten larger due to the shrinking of materials. The CVT is clunky below 2k rpm, Subaru says this is normal. The windshields are ultra thin due to the eyesight system, it cracks constantly. We usually end up replacing the windshield once a year. Its just not a well built car. My wife has always had Lexus or Volvos and they held up much better. I guess if you have never had a nice car, this may seem like a deal, but its not.

Not really. I bought a 2018 Limited it was $36,000. Subaru have not really increased pricing on the Outback. Even the Foresters, I started buying them 15 years ago for $20k - $23K brand new (base model). Now a base model goes for around $26K or so. In reality, Subaru have not jacked up their prices as others have.
