Limonflight aka BF 4.3 is the most exciting release ever, due to a number of significant ease of use additions, all of which will allow less tech savy individuals to join FPV as a hobby. So cool that a single developer working for free was responsible for the presets functionality, motor mapping, motor direction and others. It should directly result in greater userbase overall across the industry and allow the hobby to grow larger.
@tubab722 жыл бұрын
I do not think FPV will grow "larger". Drones as a "novelty" are over their apex. And .... it is all for the better imho. The "average idiot" with a DJI Phantom crashing into random objects/people has done enough damage. But advancements like this will benefit the stable base of hobby enthousiats taking drones "seriously".

@BikeGuyFPV2 жыл бұрын
To clarify at 7:10, your flight controller can be in any sort of orientation and it won't affect the motor orientation. It's if the ESC is not in the default orientation, that's where the motor remapping comes into play.

All this is cool... now the wait for 4.3 to release. Yes, I know that RC1 is out, I just don't feel like messing with it until it is a full release with a matching configurator. Often there are "little" changes between RC and release that require totally re-doing your configuration due to "minor" incompatibility issues between beta/RC software and the release version. Hopefully soon... really soon. (same for EdgeTX 2.6).

That's especially a result of "RPM crossfading" and Steve Evans' scheduler work which makes the RPM filter more precise. Hi Joshua...thank you for this. Being a beginner, please help me understand how BF 4.3 will fly better than 4.2. I'm assuming 4.3 has a fits all default PID tune as 4.2 did. If 4.3 flies better than 4.2 at the default, what is the improvement? I ask because I'm not likely to tune the quad, and will live with the defaults. I've looked into the how to of tuning but find it as tricky and individualistic as color grading video. I understand there was a time when pilots had to tune. That's not the case anymore unless one wants to fine tune to their skills and flying style. Skill wise, I am nowhere near there. So, default tune it is. Will the improved BF be of value to beginners like myself? If so, how so? Seems like I'll have to load 4.3 just to keep up, but for a beginner motor mapping doesn't come up that often. Please reply

If you have a working version of BF you do not *have* to update. I've been using 3.5.7 on my 2 Mobula 6 quads for 12 months, as I don't (yet) know how to tune PIDs. But the BF 4.3RC1 defaults "just work", as I found when I updated one of them. There is now (2022-01-10) a new "whoop" preset available, which makes life even easier for comparative noobs like me.

I've been having pretty severe wobbles at mid to mid high throttle moving in one direction on 4.3. Not present in BF 4.2. I've got very slightly oscillation on my throttle receiver input so thought perhaps the new interpretation of FF could be getting in the way, but have tried a broad array of uplink frequencies and smoothing settings, as well as deadzones to no avail, in fact, no impact. I'm a pretty competent tuner and have not been able to even partially mitigate this part throttle oscillation, the quad just will not track dead straight. The kicker, both of my friends quads (on stock settings or not) also has the same part throttle oscillation (only when moving directly forward also). The only things tying our builds together in terms of similarity is that we use Ghost, and that we use BF4.3. Everything else in our setups is completely different, but the behavior has only occurred for _both_ of us on 4.3, regardless of what pids, filter settings etc have been implemented. We're using 4.3's native 'GHST' receiver input type. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

@@mjodr F7 at 70-80% typically. If it is CPU related, then I wonder why it's only an issue on 4.3 and not 4.2, I expected 4.3 to be more efficient if anything :(
@mjodr2 жыл бұрын
@@RKTBOX The scheduler is completely different, and while I like how it works overall I think the firmware is a bit heavier load on the CPU than 4.2. I think it is more efficient in some areas, but takes more processing time in others. Or I am completely wrong and it's more like the async tasks versus non-async are different, thus causing different issues than 4.2 (hard to explain). In any case, it's still RC1, there is almost certainly a handful of bugs to squash and iron out as it approaches final, then the first round of minor version number patches, etc. I've been talking to the devs and poking into the codebase the last week, everything is still being actively worked on.
