Quick tip to everyone from me.... Check the condition of your rear Anti roll bar mounting bolts before they become coroded . Copper grease the threads of new bolts and cover the new bolt heads with silicone bathroom sealant to protect them . Doing this will prevent a body lift in the future when you need to replace Rear ARB bushes like i had to . Great video Christian and Vera, merry Christmas to you all 🎄🎁

This video reminded me of too many years ago when I was training as a mechanic in the early '80s, with a business that repaired and maintained Land Rovers fitted with petrol V8 engines. A new 110 had been driven on a very wet day and the water had poured in through all of the floor panels, they had not been sealed properly when it was built, back then it was typical British engineering....

My LR3 had two of those locators on each a pillar, one at the bottom and one at the top. I removed and taped over both. Also, you should consider doing the intake air/cowl water leak repair. The black plastic cowl cover will warp with age and allow water to pour into the cabin after it soaks the cabin air filter. It’s another simple preventive fix with tape and some plastic shielding.
@nogoogltalk2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and it could have been done with this job, as it requests the same parts removed ;-). FYI: you can see this flaw of LR at 8:08 in the top right corner of the video. BTW if you miss this fix, it does not only soak the airfilter but also damages the blowermotor, Been there done that ;-)
@lobby15292 жыл бұрын
is there any info of this repair somewhere? tia
@nogoogltalk2 жыл бұрын
@@lobby1529 there is a youtube video, but dont ask me where and when. But it is easy to do. Just follow this video until you get to minute 08:08. There you see the inlet of the air in the top rught corner. When opened up you will immediatel understand the problem, as soon as you put some water over your windshield. To fix you just have to mount a lip beneath the windshield, so water drops beside this opening. I used self adhesive bituminal sheets, as it is stable under typical road condition and it was lying around in my garage. So it is as easy to repair as in this video and needs to follow the same steps of disassemling and assembling the wipers, the A-pillar covers and the windshield cover.

I had this issue on my previous D3. It actually stopped all the central locking from working so I couldn’t open the car. Water had sat inside the the inner door sill and got into the wiring harness. Luckily the Facebook group had information on it. There is a green wire spliced under the plastic door sill trim that corrodes with the water leak, mine was full of water.

eBay repair kit for A-pillar, £11.25. I'm pretty sure they aren't LR OEM, but think about it,...LR don't make plastic clips they are supplied by 3rd party manufacturer. The benefit of purchasing an OEM kit, it will be sent in a plastic bag worth £10+, so they will have included a carbon offset value to it, so rest assured the bag is good. !! Keep it up guys, great content.

Another entertaining watch. Has reminded me I need new A Pillar covers (mine are cracked and have been abused by windscreen repair guys) plus I need to look at my scuttle panel as it is warping. Not so much rain here in WA at the moment though so we get away with a few leaks here and there.

There is another classic designed-in leak in that area where the window seal unloads with age and water then drip into the cabin air intake through the blower onto the foot well carpets. Might be more a RHD vehicle issue but may be not. It just takes a little bit of plastic sheet to extend the water run beyond the air intake to fix. I do enjoy your videos and I liked my Discovery III, but rust was ever increasing the work load. I spend hours routing new auto-box oil cooling pipes after they rusted through. Obviously must be another body-off job in the manual. 🙂

A great and interesting video, as always - thanks. I do like Joachim's snorkel, there is an identical (non LR OEM) one available. I like this design as the fixings are invisible and it's not so ugly at the top. I loved the bit about "too many words" - there are actually more words in the English language than German and French put together! Have a wonderful Christmas and I will wave as I drive back up the A3 in January as I return to the UK from Christmas in Slovakia (and pray that we don't get as many "stau" as we did coming out).

@@Vera_and_Christian Thanks Vera - not a lot of choice when you come into Germany at Aachen and leave at Passau. We did see a lot of lorries parked on the hard shoulder on the way over - I assume that they ran out of hours stuck in "stau" (the most horrible word I hear in the German language) and then had to stop on the shoulder as they were not allowed to drive any more. ??

I had to repair mine as I think the previous owner had a bust windscreen, the folk who repaired did the fatal thing and obviously pulled the A pillar seal and broke the Clips. I did a quick fix by inserting household rawl plugs as the spares I had were wrong size. Works fine but I must remember to do proper repair soon. I used a little silicon sealant to be double sure. My repair was only a few pennies.
