For people saying this movie feels like fanfiction, it literally is💀 This is Jeremy Zag’s take on the miraculous concept. The show writers didn’t write this film, so that’s why you might feel like the characters are a bit different ( ex. Marinette not being a stalker, Adrien being more gloomy, Gabriel being a decent father, etc.) This also explains why the miraculous powers work differently here, like why there’s no lucky charm and how akumas work differently. This is Jeremy’s fanfiction adapted with an $80 million euro budget, and hell, the lost potential was insane and it was rushed but he delivered regardless😭 at least in the fandom’s eyes , lord knows we’ve been starved of ANY decent writing💀

So much of this movie feels like it was written based on what the fanbase wanted: - "Ladybug doesn't exist with you" - The masquerade Ball scene - Gabriel's emotional breakdown over Adrien being Chat Noir - Rooftop patrol scenes - Marinette showing up in a Ladybug dress (totally missed opportunity in S5) - The double heartbreak scene Granted the show does do some of these, but most of these concepts existed in fanfics long before the Season 5 finale and executed better than the movie.

In my opinion, the fact that the movie has these ideas that the fanbase wanted, shows that some of the creative team listened to fans, while the series is so adverse to listening to what fans want (example: the "bully b**er" Astruc has for a Chloe's redemption arc) that it just elevates the movie even more above the series.

@izukumidoriya7425 Жыл бұрын
@@facebrenthe show’s plot line is literally all over the place. Atleast when it comes to the movie you can make better sense of it instead of jumping through a bunch of loops. In the show, *no one* must know their true identities, and they mustn’t find out each other’s identities either, yet Ladybug was the one handing out all the miraculous to her classmates. Then not to mention she revealed herself to Alya, and Luka somehow knows both their secrets. But what’s stopping Ladybug from opening up to Chat Noir? Well, if they reveal themselves to each other then Chat Blanc is bound to happen, so those two can’t get a happy ending. Marinette in the show ceases to function when she’s around Adrien, Adrien only sees her as a friend because he only has eyes for Ladybug, Ladybug could give less of a damn about Chat Noir because she’s smitten for Adrien. It’s all over the place. And yet, they’ve kissed on multiple occasions. It’s very strange. The movie handled their dynamic way better in my opinion. Made Mari more human, gave Adrien more depth, and gave them some realistic chemistry that seems to spam between the beginning of the school year till December at the Ball, giving them a good few months of actually growing more comfortable with eachother (as their superhero counterparts and as their normal selves)

For me, my biggest pet peeve was Adrien's whole saltiness towards Ladybug rejecting him softly and the two getting together by the end. Like, I know it's Miraculous, and I know it's Adrien, and I know it's just the default way couples are portrayed in any sort of media, but it still bugs me that he doesn't even take Ladybug's call for help seriously until Plagg snapped him out of it. And I really don't like how petty he was towards her during battle. I think it would've worked so much better, not just as a healthier example in love but also thematically with the rest of the story beats, if Adrien was like 'I respect your decision. And don't worry, nothing could stop me from appreciating the time we spend together' (cheesy, I know, but I'm just making this up on the spot) or something, especially since it would tie back into how Marionette felt like she couldn't be loved as herself in the early parts of the movie. It would've made the duo's connection feel stronger and the ending would've felt more earned cause we know that they're genuinely just a go.od match and work well together, romantic feelings or not. Or, alternatively, they could've kept the salty-Adrien sideplot, but halfway during the battle, the two reconcile and he apologizes for being a jerk. He could briefly say how some other stuff came up to tip his mo.od just over the edge at the time (argument with his dad, Marionette's love offer was likely a big reminder for Ladybug again and maybe he could've felt guilty for rejecting her?), and he was projecting his repressed emotions onto the failed relationship between the duo. But yeah, it really just rubs me the wrong way how he was so pissy, and then by the end, he got Ladybug as a partner anyways despite never addressing his behavior. Unrelated: Until you mentioned the dad, I literally forgot how they were setting him up in the movie TwT Also Unrelated: My favorite scene is definitely when Ladybug and Chat Noir are sparring on the ro.oftops.

11:18 I actually think a really great route to take this that would have made for a fantastic arc is if the “love” Marinette had to learn was self-love. I mean, she literally has 4 different songs in the movie about how she’s unsure of herself, so I think that would have been a great pay-off. Like, what if when Tikki tells Marinette that she needs to embrace the power of love, Marinette interprets this as romantic love, and thus comes up short, only for Tikki to tell her that in order to embrace love, you must first love yourself… Or maybe not, idk, I’m not a professional writer, but then again, it doesn’t seem like the Miraculous writers are either.

For your point with Gabriel's switch from lamenting to maniacal joy, I think it could have worked if the possession/use of the butterfly miraculous was shown to have immediate and adverse effects of the user's mental state. Sort of like The Mask. Especially since it's known to target those of deep, negative states and ultimately is associated with pure chaos, to see how he would have become this other worldly character when he first attempted to use the miraculous on the proposal-gone-wrong guy, it would have made much more sense to see him go from remorseful and scared before putting it back on to eff it, let's do this afterwards.

WHICH ACTUALLY, HOLD ON - THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT PLOT POINT AND WOULD HAVE HELPED TREMENDOUSLY WITH THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OF ALL OF THEM. If they actually used the concept of Adrien having been home schooled prior to and being very socially inept (or at least that would have made much more sense for his character), Marinette as clumsy, anxious, and unconfident, and Garbriel as his lamenting self, yet the "miraculous" gave each of them the ability to break free from those confines; Adrien could be playful and open, Marinette confident and sure, Gabriel determined and vengeful... Now, I know that's basically what ended up happening for the most part - but they never really played on that. Had it come down to Marinette getting Ladybug stripped away from her, the whole "Ladybug doesn't exist without you" lecture and her ultimately finding courage within herself as Marinette without he mask would have felt much more earned I feel.

The only reason why I’m still watching is because I spent the past 4 seasons watching so I might as well see how the first saga finishes. Coming into the movie, I had no expectations at all besides really good animation and yet, I was thoroughly surprised and enjoyed the movie a lot. It wasn’t perfect, no. The songs were a bit much (though most I enjoyed) and the singing voices sounded drastically different from the speaking voices which was really jarring. The ending was rushed and we didn’t get to see Ladybug and Chat Noir fight many villains. But hot damn, I think I liked the characterization of nearly every character in the movie compared to the show besides maybe Plagg. Hawkmoth/Gabriel were way more sympathetic and I actually felt something during the final battle. The visuals were absolutely stunning especially with some of the songs. I watched the end of season 5 and I had so many issues with it. But the ending of this was so much more satisfying! Like spoilers: Adrien actually finding out that his dad was Hawkmoth. I suppose it all comes down to: "season 5 isn't supposed to be the last season of our show, so it's ending can't solve everything, otherwise the show must end". I don't really agree with this line of thought because a show can create new reasons for it to continue, instead of relying on the same old ones. I wanted a confrontation between Gabriel and Adrien, I wanted a full scale identity reveal, it was the right time! Buuuut we didn't get any on that... So sad.

Omigosh! Your first sentence, is EXACTLY my feelings on it. Solid beginning, a little lost halfway through, but the ENDING MAN! That alone skyrocketed the movie to the top for me. Better than the show, 10/10. Okay maybe 8/10 but still.

I'm pretty sure Marrinette's dad was meant to get akumatized into a balloon monster in an earlier version of the script. He literally covered himself with them earlier and now was very distraught about disappointing his daughter. But it was cut because... reasons. Personally, I found the story to be far too clunky to enjoy (and I didn't like most songs, so that's an instant downer), but I understand why people would like it. It basically gives you everything that shows either keeps teasing, but never actually giving to you. PS. I'm watching the English dub, so I don't know yet how the current season ends.

Gabrielle is pretty good but. My hats off to Chloe's glow up. I personally found this to be an amazing film. The push to overcome her fears. and the Tikki saying if you want to save your loved ones you'll have to face your fears. For me it's not detracted from the scene because she didn't see anyone she loved in danger, it's because the characters sow so much chaos that her family will eventually be in danger. Sure she could run away and have it potentially not impact but if you don't become ladybug, what does the future hold for your family. Additionally, Marinette loves everyone and wants to be noticed. She's struggling against the fact that she doesn't think she can live up to everyone's vision of her. You can see this in the film as she sees everyone talking about how weird she is. She doesn't feel she can be loved by everyone or be that hero. Gabriel jumping straight into a villain scene after showing his as compassionate. I also thought this was acceptable because he simply embraced what he had to do. Sow chaos, become evil, do anything to bring his wife back. I didn't think it was too out of place for him to jump into it. Marinette not overcoming her clumsiness and still doubting herself at the end because she wasn't ladybug, also no problem here. Just because she became more confident doesn't mean she didn't have her doubts about her hero abilities as being Marinette. Ladybug is how she became confident, it has power that comes with the suit. In addition to Gabrielle winning the fight. Cat Noir and Ladybug were not fighting together. It shows in the film and I think losing in that moment and getting an ending where Adrienne actually gets to have some closure in a finale is awesome. This ended with an emotional banger and that's really what the film did right. I think they pushed the emotional side of things and didn't have to spoon feed us everything. Some things I wish they would have changed. Cat Noir and Ladybug Duet for when they found their powers. Marinette saying saying she's not the hero Tikki is looking for and Cat noir saying he can finally not be himself and instead be a hero would be an interesting dichotomy while also both gaining powers. However, both have the same internal conflicts for wanting/not wanting to be super heroes. Marinette doesn't think she can because clumsy/weird and Adrienne wanting to because he's mostly alone, no parents,/sad and wants that escape. I really hate the direction they took Plaggs character. Just an old man with gas that hates everything. Overall enjoyed the film and yea, I could nitpick it like in the video, but I don't think the things you mentioned detracted from story the put together.

Yes, I thought that the scene where Marinette becomes Ladybug didn't carry emotional impact, but I couldn't put my finger on it until you mentioned that she didn't react to her loved ones being in danger. That was what she did in the climax instead, but my problem with that was that she wouldn't have done it without Tikki's encouragement. They showed us that Marinette has become more confident not only as her alter ego, but as herself, too. So it didn't make sense for her to start thinking that she's nothing without the mask. That being said, I still enjoyed the movie. It did everything better than the show, not perfectly, but better.

I only have two complaits about the movie: 1. Marinette's actual voice actor doesn't sing in the movie. She can sing but for some reason they replaced her for the songs. It is really distracting when the main character's voice chances just for the songs. I hated it. 2. We never actually see Marinette's reaction to finding out Adrien is Cat Noir. She was literally standing a few meters away from gabriel and adrien when gabriel found out so she must have found out at the same time. I was so dissapointed when we couldn't get to see her reaction as it could have had the potential to be an emotionally impactful moment. Oh and also this one is not so much a complaint but a remark. I found the climax to be quite underwhelming but I cant exactly figure out why.

Honestly I liked the villain song of Gabriel because it shows his corrupted side and what the power of the miraculous does to someone who isn’t pure hearted or good intentions. After his desperation, he finally feels like he’s in control of something and use the power for himself. He can create chaos. And he chooses that to get his wife back. And he now lives for the power which consumes him. Only his son brings back his humanity and compassion. Personally I think that was the motivation

Superhero origin stories are fun but Marinette definitely did not have enough of a motive to dive into it and I wish they had shown more of Chat Noir's reason for wanting to become a superhero too. The writers always seem to put less effort into his story even though I find him a more complex and interesting character.

This movie had a lot of pros and cons. Overall the writing and the movie itself was much better than the show, but it still felt too rushed and stale in places. Pros: Animation (obviously) Adrien NOT being a sentimonster (because that was such cheap and terrible writing) Marinette actually being able to hold a normal conversation with Adrien without being a creepy stalker Background characters actually looking like real people Hawkmoth's musical number (it SLAPPED, especially that high note at the end, voice actor can SING, definitely my favorite song from the movie) The reveal (it actually happening and being sweet instead of unnecessary drama) Adrien being more cold and distant instead of just perfect and friendly, makes more sense with his background Adrien's singing voice- I've seen some people complain that his voice sounds too different, but I thought it sounded pretty close and was nowhere near as off as Marinette's. For all his range, Adrien's voice actor isn't the best singer so I think the guy they chose to be his singing voice did a pretty good job and sounded more like a teenager and not a grown adult Gabriel's working scene- him actually being in the designing place and giving orders like that one dress establish him as an actual fashion designer, because in the show all he really seemed to do was be on video calls. Adrien standing up to his dad- It was a very satisfying moment and felt much more gratifying than Gabriel literally controlling Adrien whenever he got out of line Ladybug and Chat Noir feeling more equal instead of Chat Noir as the "sidekick." I actually liked that Chat Noir jokingly called Ladybug the sidekick instead because of how that's what he has become degraded to be in the show There being only the core miraculous, and not all those extra ones that made the show just too much. Not every single classmate needs to have a miraculous. Adrien being called a "guardian" as well instead of just Marinette Tikki and Plagg animal forms- I like the idea that Tikki and Plagg can portray themselves as a literal ladybug and cat respectively, I think that's a really neat detail Tikki commenting about how the times changed, how "you discovered electricity!" and "women can wear pants now!" Shows how old Tikki and the kwamis actually are. Ladybug and Chat Noir's dynamic- Them being actual partners and Ladybug not neglecting Chat Noir. Their banter was good and I liked how it wasn't just Ladybug who influenced Chat Noir to feel free and not cold, but also Chat Noir helping Ladybug to become confident and strong as well. And the Ladynoir moments were really good. Ladybug and Chat Noir actually taking damage, and their suits not being industructable. Also the fact that the kwamis can be out even when their holder is transformed is interesting. Cons: Ladybug's singing voice being way too grown up and different in pitch than Christina Vee- Don't get me wrong, the singing voice was great, but it just didn't match Marinette's and it made her musical numbers a bit hard to get through. Christina Vee is a good singer, so I really wish they would have let her sing Marinette's musical numbers instead, or at least picked someone with a higher tone of voice or someone that could sound more like Marinette's higher pitched voice The songs- They were good, but I felt like there was just too many and it took away from the plot and caused the movie to feel more rushed than it could have been. I wish they would have made the movie more plot-based than song-based, because I feel like that would have fixed a lot of the issues the movie had. Hawkmoth's defeat- the battle was overall too rushed and we saw too little of him, most of that due to the time skip scenes. But I did like the way he actually cared for his son and saw what he did wrong, and owning up to his crimes and facing the punishment instead of just disappearing and pretending he was a hero, Adrien never knowing. The moment Adrien and Marinette fall for separate versions of the other feeling too rushed- Marinette saw Adrien in the library once and then "instantly fell in love", Ladybug saved Chat Noir once, not even totally purposefully, and then Chat Noir goes from thinking she's a noob to thinking she had been doing it for a long time and then "fell in love." I also wish we had more moments of Adrien and Marinette's friendship instead of the silent time skip moments, but it at least established they were friends for awhile despite their actual interactions being minimal. Adrien's transition to Chat Noir- We saw Plagg in his cat form and then the next time we see Adrien he's already become Chat Noir, I wish we could have seen his reaction to Plagg and his newfound hero status. Chloe hating Marinette for seemingly no reason- I wish the movie would have given an insight into why Chloe bullies Marinette and only her specifically, like some sort of motive, selfish or not. But she was just there to be rude and that was it. And another small detail, at the end she said "the bullying starts again next year" or whatever, but no one who is a bully ACTUALLY calls what they're doing bullying. The confusion about who was new to the school- Marinette was an outcast and said she didn't have any friends, so was she the one new to that school? If not, why would everyone ignore her if they weren't mean like Chloe? Was Alya the one who was new? She met Marinette for the first time in the movie. Was Adrien new to the school like he was in the show? Nino already knew him and was friends with him, so was he new or not? The ball at the end- it was rushed, I know the movie had to be wrapped up at that point but it was a little disappointing for it to be in the movie for like 3-5 minutes and then be over. And why was Marinette not wearing a mask if it was a masquerade ball and everyone else was?? Tikki and Marinette's dynamic- I wish Tikki and Marinette were shown to be closer and Tikki more wise, instead of her just being a bunch of cliche quotes. But their song together was cute at least. Neutrals: Ladybug not having a lucky charm- I like the premise of her fixing everything herself, it feels more in line with the "creation" thing instead of having some random object save the day. However, the fact that this power was only shown at the end whereas Chat Noir used cataclysm multiple times made it feel a little imbalanced, like Chat Noir had this specific ability and Ladybug was just swinging around. And it meant the other battles didn't quite make sense, because if the first time she used that ability was at the end, then how did all the other fights shown in the time skip get cleaned up?? Gabriel's backstory- him finding the miraculous as a way to save Emilie makes sense, but it also doesn't because Emilie had the peacock miraculous in the post-credit scene, so Gabriel would have had to know about the miraculous before Emilie "disappeared". Unless he and Emily had the peacock miraculous but not the butterfly one yet?? Emilie's disappearance backstory- I can't really put this as a total con, because the movie had such a short time frame, but I wish we would have had some bit about what caused her to get sick. Tikki and Plagg being referred to as "genies" even though they were already called kwamis felt confusing and unnecessary, but it was such a small detail that it didn't really affect much.

What I felt while watching the show would that it'd be better if it was a full reboot of the series. Partly that is because they took away most of the worst part of the series, Marionette not being stalkerish, Gabriel actually being a tragic villain instead of a complete dick, and there actually being chemistry between the two romantic leads. But also, because I think that would have allowed them to explore the themes, they kind of rushed in the film. Some of those setups without payoffs mentioned in the video, like Marionette going from insecure to confident, not just in her Ladybug persona, but also as Marionette, could have been explore better if it did have to compete with the other event of the show, such as the romance or Gabriel's arc. This would have been easier to pull off if it was the focus of an episode or two, or even the running theme of a season paid off in its season, or mid-season, finale. Also, while they played the romance between the main characters way better, it was almost entirely focused on Ladybug and Cat Noir, with all we saw of Adrien and Marionette coming from the montage, which somehow still managed to be better than it's portrayed in the series. Mostly though, it just felt like everyone's character was written better. Most notably Gabriel, but also Marinate and Adrien, and even more minor ones like Natalie and Sabrine. I liked a version of Natallie that did not take so four seasons to start calling Gabriel out on his crap, and a Sabrine who does not act like she's under a geass to obey Chloe. Yes, she still puts up with way more crap from her than she should, but at least she can occasionally think for herself, like not snitching on Marionette when she's hiding from Chloe.

There were some things that happened illogically in the movie as well, like how everyone fell in love with everyone just because they reached out to them to stand up, I mean, it was a lot in the movie, with Adrien in the library, with Ladybug when Cat Noir fell the first time they met, When Cat Noir gave a hand to Ladybug to get on that moon. Like, since when is a hand considered such a melting thing? If you tell me that my best friend can push my crush and I will help him up and he immediately fell in love with me I will do it immediately. But I don't have the energy to write about that anymore. Anyway, what else I liked about the movie is that Ladybug really looks like Cat Noir's love interest, and not just a crush. I mean, he is not only flirting all the time, and thinking ladybug is cool, he shows his love, and talks in his song about how she really affected his life for the better. In addition, it is much easier to connect with Marinette in the movie than in the series, in which she is actually a generous 14-15-year-old girl, but must always 🎉take the lead, knows that she cannot manage without her partner and is used to him, but sometimes takes him down and says sorry only when she feels like she really messed up,and she can't control the fact that she just wants to take control of situations, reminds me a bit actually 😕, but there's nothing to be done - a movie must be different from reality, and if it's for children then especially, you have to learn something good along with the character. In the series, there is not much to learn from her except for her courage and kindness, and in the movie you can learn a lot about the difficult path to your dreams, and the difficulties and pains in life, Ladybug is more at eye level, and there is more room for a Cat Noir, this helps for you to see more of the chemistry between them. They added a little more depth to each character, of course they made Gabriel a person with tragedy and not a person with a psychological problem..(It's already long as hell, so I won't go into detail, you know) And this was also the first time somehow that I really felt that Gabriel was a fashion designer. Anyways, I really like the series, don't get me wrong, and I also liked the movie, it was beautiful, but maybe it really didn't really fulfill its potential❤😊
