I really liked your take on conquests story and some of the ideas you put forward were excellent, what with mikoto being very timid and first but becoming more insane, as well as hinoka's role and hans and Iago being more prominent in the story. One personal fanon idea of mine is that the three campaigns are visions Corrin experiences as a Peggy Sue adventure. If you recall at the beginning of the game, the first chapter is "Premonition" which essentially serves as the tutorial, but from a story perspective it's weird. Corrin is absolutely confused by the vision because people other than their family calls them family in the dream and they appear to fight Nohrian forces. When they wake up, they tell Felicia, Flora, Jakob, and Gunter that something weird happened in their dream. Corrin doesn't really question this when he later meets the Hoshidan family members in Chapter 3 and beyond. Maybe they forgot their faces and names from the dream, but it's clear upon waking that it slightly disturbs them enough to talk about it. Corrin ALSO doesn't question it when it happens again in Chapter 6: even when it should provoke a sense of deja vu. This leads me to believe that when Corrin wakes up in Chapter 1 to duel Xander, Corrin experienced... a false awakening. *distant rimshot* No but seriously. It's bizarre how differently Corrin behaves in the campaigns. Revelations is the obvious stand-out as the "true" campaign thematically and design-wise because it's whole shtick is about combining the peoples, powers, and prowess of both nations to come together and stop the true villain in the plot - whom you don't even face in the other two. But Revelations' twists and turns are meaningless unless taken into the context of the tragedies of the Birthright and Conquest campaigns. Revelation's Chapter 6 is HUGE to the plot of the story and the game essentially assumes you've beaten the other two because it completely reframes the overall narrative. But it's also not a golden ending. Several characters whom might otherwise survive bite it and some characters whom otherwise join you immediately are extremely hesitant to get near you (Xander, Ryoma, Silas). Hoshido's story is still clearly a heroic character. Corrin isn't all powerful or perfect, and Takumi's shockingly realistic behavior towards them really helps sell the campaign and the setting while everyone else fawns over your Sueness. Nohr has the opposite problem where the side villains stay around for too long and Corrin's behavior and manners are questionably anti-villainous and necessary evil. What does all of this mean in the context of Fates? Well, what if the game is a Peggy Sue adventure centered on the game' central decision in Chapter 6? Conquest is the first try: from a psychological perspective, Corrin's bonds are stronger than his blood ties and their questionable behavior and actions and the tragedy that comes out of it makes more sense from an inexperienced hero struggling against powers beyond their knowledge than if Conquest was second or third. Following their failures to reform Nohr from the inside, Corrin is brought back to decision in Chapter 6 and this time decides to double-down on their resolve from the end of Conquest and directly oppose Garon. This shocks and alienates the Nohr sibilings and Corrin is taken in by Hoshido and comes to love the people and more generally straightforward nature of not being under Garon's thumb. But of course, in the end, Corrin still finds tragedy and does not achieve anything more here than he does the first time. So Corrin tries again in Revelations and Azura is so baffled, confused, or whatever that she finds an opportunity to show Corrin a third path. This path turns out better because Corrin has some sense of what they're doing this time, but their decision to stay neutral in the conflict completely confuses some of the cast in ways they didn't expect. Corrin doesn't quite get a golden ending, but it's damn near close. I like this idea because it means that Hoshido and Nohr aren't complete wastes of time. It's almost contradictory to say that from the perspective of an "all just a dream" plot, but it's not like the current Conquest and Birthright campaigns mean anything in the face of Revelations either. By tying everything together as a sort of cylical trilogy and forcing Corrin to make mistakes and learn from them, they go from being having no confidence in their decisions to comfortably in charge and a benevolent force of change. I don't necessarily like your changes to Conquest from the more meta-perspective of Fates, because if you change the origins of characters in one but not the others it'll confuse everyone involved (not saying you can't do it, but it does mess up the main marketing reason behind Birthright Vs. Conquest) but if you made Conquest a stand-alone game I think it be a far more solid entry.

Hm, I like it. It keeps the spirit of Conquest, while showing less Hoshido bias and giving us more characterization for Corrin. BTW, is Corrin's father the same in this version as it is normally (don't want to mention who for spoilers sake)? Also, I was thinking, instead of being a cutscene, what if the battle between Garon and Sumeragi was an actual chapter, where you got to play as the younger Garon (or Sumeragi if it's Birthright)? It'd give a better sense of how strong Garon is before you have to fight him, and we could get a bit more in-depth look as what Garon used to be like, instead of it being something we only learn through supports. Not sure how large the chapter would be, or if you get to control any generic units during the battle, but I think it'd be a nice way to present the flashback.

The thing about Garon and Sumeragi being younger and fighting, I would believe that to be a DLC, because it cannot be truly done in the actual story because it doesn't take place directly into the story for Corrin. So the story would reminisce about it, while the DLC would have us go through the actual thing, though it'd be like Beach Brawl and Royal Royale, where we choose who we wanna fight as. Also Zerk, shh. No spoiling us. You have Fixing Birthright and Revelations for that.

This is a massive improvement over Conquest. I particularly like how Hans and Iago are used. The Red Hounds remind me a bit of the Black Fang, which is a good thing since I think they were a good villianous faction. When Corrin first learns that the Red Hounds are working under Iago, I think he should be very opposed to the idea of working with them, but accepts it since he doesn't feel he has a choice in the matter. I think trying to evoke the same tension that is seen in FE8 between the old Grado generals and the new ones would be a good idea. Corrin and the royal siblings would be more honorable and sympathetic towards the people caught up in the war like the old Grado generals while Hans and Iago being much more ruthless like the new Grado generals. How sympathetic each royal sibling is to Corrin would vary, with Elise completely agreeing with him, Leo and Xander agreeing that while the Red Hounds are awful, Corrin shouldn't expect war to honorable and should instead try to end it as swiftly as possible by defeating the enemy, and Camilla being mostly neutral about the matter. I liked the part with Xander and Hinoka sending letters to each other, though I think you might need to find a reason as to why they would never learn of the other's royal position, especially if they have been doing this for years. I think the ancient lore is very much in line with Fire Emblem's style, though I do have to ask why the paladin and sorcerer who received the weapons from the evil dragon decided to fight him. It might be good to also try to explain exactly what put Hoshido and Nohr on bad terms since originally the warriors who founded kingdoms were allies. Also, maybe instead of the Rainbow Sage still being alive, he instead started a sort of group that is meant to protect the Yato. That's really more of a personal taste thing though. In my opinion, the crowns corrupting Takumi and Garon takes away from the story rather than adding to it. Perhaps Garon instead is assassinated by Iago in a grab for power, which would make the final fight between Corrin and the Red Hounds feel better. Takumi could perhaps just feel so betrayed by Corrin that he refuses to surrender and wants to kill Corrin because he is a disgrace in his eyes. Corrin would end up killing him in self defense. Another small issue I had was with Corrin's mother commanding Hoshido to attack Nohr feels out of place for her character, and could probably be replaced with something more mundane. Simply having her die to an assassination (maybe thanks to Iago who is playing this all to become king of both countries) like in the main game would probably be a bit better. All of this does remove most of the supernatural elements of the plot, but that may not be bad for Conquest. Alternatively, you might say that the crowns were a sort of seal on the dragon, and that he broke free when they were destroyed, and make the evil dragon the final boss. That might be better suited for revelations though, really I'm just throwing out ideas here. Sorry if this came off as super critical. I actually really liked a lot of the ideas in this video, and I think even as is would have been an enjoyable Fire Emblem story, but Ithought I wouldgive my two cents on how I think it could be improved. P.S. I am glad someone else other than me thought of Rem and Ram when they saw Felicia and Flora. Also, the discount ninian joke was great.

Hoshido and Nohr's tensions started with Garon and Sumeragi's beef that was mentioned in the flashback. and the paladin and the sorceress got their weapons from the dusk dragon, who mind you, isn't inherently evil, only representing night. the red hounds are indeed black fang inspired, and mikoto's mental stability would be explained a lot better, I did kinda gloss over it but, The hoshidans really aren't fans of mikoto in my timeline, they view her as weak and too passive, basically her near-death experience would have been epifinatic, her moment to try and earn the respect of her people by a demonstration of the might she lacked. and yeah, Felicia and Flora are Rem and Ram, although, wierdly i like Felicia better then Flora, and Rem better than Ram. oh, and the Xander/Hinoka thing gets pretty fun in the other two paths.

Ah, I see, the Dusk Dragon is not the same dragon as Ankaros. Misunderstanding on my part, that makes much more sense now. As for Felicia and Flora compared to Rem and Ram, I would say they serve the same dynamic but their personalities have been swapped, with the red head being the more emotional one, while the blue haired Flora being more detached and harsh. This would explain why you like Felicia and Rem over Ram and Flora (which I would agree with you on, by the way). Hype for more Xander/Hinoka.

The fixing of Conquest ended up being a remake of the world and such. Nice. Cannot wait to see how this goes. *starts watching* So instead of the 12 Dragons warring (reference somewhat to Genealogy of the Holy War), we have Anankos being the bad guy, and it was the Dawn Dragon that created Raijinto and Fujin Yumi, while the Dusk Dragon created Brynhildr and Siegfried, and a warrior of Valla had the Yato and was the brother of the Rainbow Sage. Very interesting, and you even named the continent. So here we see that Hoshido ISN'T as bright, happy, and goody goody as the game was, and instead has some corrupt things where people think Mikoto is weak with Sumeragi dead and Corrin missing and it was Iago that did it. And Mikoto is the actual mother of Ryoma and the others, and not Ikona. And Azura is a gypsy. And Mikoto turned evil. Wait what? Hey! Jackob and Flora. Seriously, I wish they could have had support and gotten married. But I am guessing that the reason they don't do that is because she's meant to be a Corrin exclusive for the game, but on a reason, its because she attacked Corrin and because Jackob is fiercely loyal to Corrin, he would never forgive her for doing that. Still I would ship them. So Azura is the descendent of the Vallite hero and gives her the sword and she gives it to Corrin. Nice. Development if good, and while you wrote and said it like that, I get that you mean that Corrin is just accepting that the no killing thing is impossible and he would need to kill those in his way eventually and has to resolve himself to it. Xander and Hinoka being pen pals threw me for a loop, and he was the one that faked her death. This would follow the Camus and Nyna thing even, which would be amazing. Overall, your story is REALLY well made and I would have loved to see that. Now then... can you also do one for Birthright and Revelations? Come on, we know that those two games cannot compare, but their stories should have had its things improved in my opinion.

The problem with the whole choice was that it felt like Hoshido was white and Nohr was black, and there was no areas of grey, which was seriously stupid, because then it seems less of a choice, because one just felt obviously right. They should have. It was heartfelt when Flora fought Jakob in Birthright and Conquest, and my god Flora had a brutal death in Birthright. Seriously, WTF?! Mikoto going insane actually would make sense. She gets her son back after so long where she lost her husband, and then she gets fatally wounded after her son was back, and then she learns that her son abandoned her and sided with Nohr? It would make someone snap. Can't wait to see your take on Birthright and Revelations. :)

Great job, I loved this, although there are a few things that I would change. Something that I'd love to do is rewrite Conquest and Birthright, but also do a prior to Fates game when you save Sumeragi, Garon, and Saizo IV from their deaths.

Yo, if Mikoto has been the primary antagonist like Garon in Conquest that would have been lit. It would have been interesting to see her progressively becoming more insane with Anankos’s influence, and dramatic irony that in this path both of Corrin’s true parents (Anankos and Mikoto) would instead be his opponents. We would have had two insane mothers of 2016 (Fire Emblem’s Mikoto & Pokémon’s Lusamine).

Gotta say, I really liked the ideas you had here. They worked more fluently than many of the concepts in the real game, and it allowed certain characters like Elise to gain more of a presence in the story. If there is anything I like about the original, though, is how Corrin isn't related to anyone. Corrin is the one thing that determines the fate of Hoshido and Nohr. If Corrin had proper development, this would be fine, but of course our trusty Mary Sue dragon lord has very little to none of that anywhere. Regardless, nice vid!

I have a rewrite of my own In Chapter 5, Mikoto merely falls into a coma (which takes down the barrier) instead of dying (no one knows she's alive until later). After Kamui returns to Nohr, he asks garon about hans and his attempt to kill him. When garon plays dumb, Kamui asks about ganglari (causing garon to play dumb again). He then asks about Mikoto's barrier disappearing, which causes Kamui to go on garon's suicide mission (the events play out identically to how they did in the game until Corrin asks garon if he'll actually stop treating the ice tribe like crap). Chapter 13 is where things REALLY get different. Here, Kamui tells Camilla not to participate in the battle. Instead, she should keep an eye on hans and if he does anything excessive, stop him by any means necessary (he cites Xander's warning about him from Chapter 3). Kamui knows that garon will likely react negatively if what's about to happen ends up happening, so he orders the hoshidan soldiers killed (but not the ones from Cheve). When confronted by Scarlet, Kamui asks why Cheve would betray their kingdom, to which Scarlet gives a disturbingly similar answer to the ice tribe's reason. After the battle, Kamui spares Scarlet, saying he doesn't like having to kill other Nohrians. hans tries to pull what he did in the game, but Scarlet is saved by Camilla, and hans tries to go for the civilians. When Kamui confronts him, he gives the same reason he did in the game, but Kamui ain't havin' none of that $h1+. He calls him out on "killing" Gunter, who was like a father to him, and when hans gives the Nuremburg defense, Kamui snaps and tells him that even if he was given orders, he still obeyed them. hans says Gunter was weak, so Nohr isn't losing anything with his death. Kamui snaps even more, saying Nohr won't lose anything with HIS death, and kills his @$$. When Scarlet asks Kamui why he killed a fellow nohrian, Kamui says that Nohr doesn't need war criminals giving it a bad name. He asks her to call off the rebellion, but she says Cheve will never submit to garon. Kamui calls her an idiot for continuing to think this rebellion still has a chance after they lost. The civilians tells Scarlet she owes Kamui all of Cheve, and to call off the rebellion. Scarlet very reluctantly does so. After Kamui's outburst to hans, Aqua decides to consult with Kamui about her plan in Chapter 14. Kamui says there's no telling how someone like garon would react to that, convincing her not to go through with it. Because Kamui killed the hoshidans in Chapter 13, he won't punish him for killing hans. At the end of Chapter 15, when Aqua mentions that Leo can see the crystal ball, Kamui immediately orders the rest of the siblings, especially Xander, be present before its use. When it is used, Kamui, Aqua, and Leo all see gooron and tell Xander. After Xander's disbelief, Kamui asks him if he ever had a radical shift in character, including the mention of Anankos. Xander says he never worshipped Anankos before the shift, which helps prove to him that the real Garon was killed. The siblings confront gooron, Yato transforms, gooron and iago die, and the siblings attempt a peace treaty w/hoshido. Except Hoshido wants proof that garon's dead, who turned into water. No proof = it's a trap. Mikoto wakes up, is brought up to speed, and greenlights the invasion of Nohr to get Kamui back (at this point losing her son twice has broken her, and she's not a Vallite in this rewrite). Nohr siblings realize the only way to save nohr is to fight back. They invade, defeat hoshido siblings (Takumi escapes), and Mikoto begs Kamui to return. Kamui begs her to call off the war, but the possibility of garon being alive makes her say no. Yukimura says as queen, she must defend her ppl, even if it means killing her son. Kamui spares Mikoto, and kills possessed Takumi. Upon seeing Takumi turn into water, Yukimura realizes that the nohr siblings were telling the truth when they said garon turned into water. Takumi's death makes Mikoto snap and she dragons up (the fact that Corrin actively refused to come back to hoshido isn't helping her at all), and is the final boss. When she dies, she says at least she can be w/Takumi and Sumeragi, and asks Yukimura to tell her kids she loves them. Yukimura says it has been an honor serving her. She's glad her suffering is over. When all is said and done, in the ending, all of hoshido (including the royal siblings) still feel betrayed by corrin and blame him for mikoto's death

Conquest is the least flawed of the three in my opinion, and doesn't need such a drastic rewrite. I really loved how it kinda held itself as 'the darkest universe' where everything just gets thoroughly fucked up. Like, Takumi is the best part of all of Fates for a reason. Now, Birthright and Revelations, could really use a rewrite. Revelations needs it from the ground-up. Birthright isn't anywhere near as painful to play as Revelations, but it was so plain and dull that it could use something to spice it up.

At first I was confused as to why you wrote out stuff like Azura's pendant and Valla attacking the Hoshidan capital, but soon I realized the entire point here was to rewrite it from "Fire Emblem Fates; Conquest" to "Fire Emblem Conquest" and eliminate the other two paths so it could better stand on its own. well yes and no, the reason i wrote out things like that was to make the story have less going on so that i could develop as many characters as possible. i will still rewrite the other 2 paths with these changes in mind. it was all filler that created plot holes and made the fact that fate's ultimate story was a mishmash of 4 separate drafts painfully obvious, so i aimed to fix that.

if there's one thing alot of people miss when writing a story for a game, it's how it works together with game play itself. the setting of the battle field, the flow of cut scenes to gameplay, how the cut scenes are done (in game 3d models, text, highly detailed cutscenes), and how the player themselves interacts within the world. a good example of when fates does this is the fight when corrin turns into a dragon and fights the Vallites after mikoto's death, previously show from a cutscene. you the player control outraged corrin while ryoma stalls the main boss, though not able to control him, still gets in game battle scenes. With these reasons and execution of them, it's one of the reasons why this chapter is one of my favorites. remember, write not as if it's a movies script but a medium that involves the player themselves (aka video games)

Takumi's not a bad guy, but he was f*cking pissed at Corrin in chapter 5 for Mikoto's death, that anger wasn't supposed to be him, it was basically the start of the possession taking over, but since he didn't get possessed in Revelation, that anger used in chapter 5 just made him look like a dick instead. Even Ryoma knew it wasn't Corrin's fault...

Pretty interesting rewrite! I definitely liked a lot of the ideas flying around. If you do decide to do Birthright and/or Revelation (lol, good luck with that one), one tip I would have, video structure-wise, is... you should put a sort of recap at the end of the video, just to briefly sum up all of the events of the story. This video was pretty long, and fairly dense, so having something there just to kind of help us remember all of it at once would help us take it all in as a whole a bit better. But it was a great video. Good job.

I'd like to add one thing the second crown creates Takumi's doubleganger and their is a second round to this fight where the two fuse into a masive dragon and like in the original version Corrin nearly dies and the Yato is destroyed but unlike the original where the Yato is restored by Fujin Yumi the Yato is reborn as Arrows for Corrin to a gift from the fadeing spirit of the real Takumi as he pleads his brother to end his torment. Corrin rises and Takes the Bow into battle along with a regular sword charging into battle against the demonic two headed dragon that Takumi has turned into cue final boss

ZerkMonsterHunter 4 I personally like it because it reminds you of what you've given up by choosing your path and asks you to reflect on the actions you've taken thus far to reach here but I wouldn't make it as long an drawn out Corrin would wake up in a Abyss colored white and red with Lotus petals floating around and asks where he is Takumi shows up and tells him the rift between life and death and that he is trapped unable to escape this purgatory due to the crowns of Valla impisioning his soul, he begs Corrin to end his torment and Holds out Fuji Yumi but Corrin racked with guilt can't accept the gift until those he's lost in the game both as part of the story and in battle if you're playing clasic mode given him words of encouragement and forgiveness as finally. Makoto and Garon appear with one other that being. Sumiragi and telling him that he chose this path so he must have the strength to reach the end it leads him to otherwise how can he call himself a prince of Hoshido or Nior! Corrin finally understands. And grabs the bow from Takumi hearing a thank you brother as he wakes up everyone is panicking because the Yato is destroyed but Corrin isn't worried as with a smerk of confidence he yells Fujin Yumi to me and the bow flies to him and the Dusk Yato takes on the form of dark gold arrows the Dragon Takumi, snarling that his own weapon would betray him but Corrin responds your wrong monster! The Bow belong to my brother Takumi the man you killed and now who's soul you hold hostage, and I will use it to end you and set him free! That's how I see it granted I would also change the one in birthright and add one to Revelation also I would make it Demon Takumi who kills Lilith and not a freaking faceless in this path

Fidens Libertas The game would start with Mario and Company entering a place not unlike Spain, they would be chasing after an escaping bowser before getting stopped in their tracks by a toadish professor. he is on some kind of mad ramble about rot. Mario then catches up to bowser after some poking around in the town, where he then spots a kind of red mould on the side of a building bowser is then trapped inside and after defeating a mould clone of bowser, the big koopa is freed and the toad professor returns to explain everything. he shows the gang that inside the town's central landmark, the rot trapped below the town is starting to break it's seal, there's evidence of foul play, so Mario sets of to gather some set of seven items and find the identity of whoever released the rot. I just came up with that on the spot, figured something like that would answer your comment.

Here's how you fix Ch4 First the enemies are paid bandits that live in hoshido that Iago gives orders to attack and capture Princess Sakura in the Northern Medical Center since Sakura is helping out before they assult the center. Next Sabuki or whatever her Pegasus knights name is pegasus is hurt by an archer and is unable to fly them away and can't battle so Hana must guard her with her own life. Now Hinoka and the avatar are in the capital when they hear of this so they take off. Ryoma and Takumi must stay to guard their Mother. Finally you can control Hinoka during battle and her retainers no experience gained when they are in battle and only Kaze is with you that can gain since Rinak decided to help out with guarding the center inside. During battle anyone can talk to Hana or Sakura. Victory by killing the boss.

While I would have immediately dismiss the fact that Hana is the one protecting, since her defense is pathetic, it balances out with Hinoka being playable and can get to them quickly. I like this idea.

You know what might be interessting to? That they made the lancer class promote into the halberdier class from the telius games, and instead of Anankos only bringing back awakening characters they brought back some radiant dawn characters that had little to do after the war. (I don't know the character specific endings, but i think that people would love to see Aran and Nephenee join in, with them being Lancers due to that promoting into the halberdier class.)

+ZerkMonsterHunter 4 I know this goes against the rules you set up for rewritting the story, but what would you think if they brought back Nephenee and Aran as the Lancers/Halberdiers you can recruit. Would you recruit them via a paralogue or a normal chapter. I know they don't need to be there but i don't think it's fair that fates brings back awakening characters but nobody else. Plus i don't know which character that's already there could be a lancer/halberdier. ps. what if you could actually recruit Mikoto/Garon? (since Garon isn't possesed from the get go and Mikoto still being alive.) I think that may have been fun to.

Carnidrome characters returning in the way you mentioned, while it would be cool, I much prefer getting original characters. sure Laslow, etc. are still fun, but I feel like they robbed three original characters of a place in fates. as much as I enjoy Nephenee as a character, it would feel like pandering to the veteran fanbase, just like the Awakening characters in fates feel like pandering to that part of the fanbase. if I wanted to see characters like that again, I'd want a Tellius remake. so if it feels like I'm shooting this idea down but it's my honest opinion. thank you for the comment.

Story is good, it covers up certain plot points and a neat twist on the original. I'm assuming the prologue is the four heroes. Bit sad that Gunter is dead in dead in this story, but having Azura go on a "finding true self" is better than the "disappearing" act. The one thing that I preferred from the original over this one is that Azura still has the magic amulet, and instead acts similar to the Yato in that it gains power from other divine weapons when nearby.I think if they had more time and got someone who knows how to write medieval fantasy storylines things could have been different. Nevertheless, I still love the game, even with its flaws. Yes, I know that the older games are better in story, but I like playing casual("hurr durr I'm not playing it right").
