Blown speakers are common with Porsches. My 718 and my 911 have had blown speakers but luckily a lot of them are the same speaker and typically cost like $85 bucks.

I have to be one of the few people that loves that steering wheel paddles. My 958.1 has them and while annoying at first, I’ve gotten totally accustomed to it by 5 years of ownership. Being able to up shift and downshift from either side of the wheel without moving my hand is so nice.

I love doing projects like this that don't cost a lot (like the speakers) but are so worth it.

forgot to add sound deadening behind the speakers in the doors... makes the speakers sound like they are solid mouted and door will have a solid "THUNK" in doors (and panels) when you tap on them

Great to see you back doing videos. I also have a 09 Cayman PDK- base one, and have exactly the same issue you addressed with the two speakers completely shut. I also have been shopping around for a paddle shifter steering wheel although they are pretty expensive. Great skills doing the work yourself. Anyway, keep up with the great Cayman content.

if you love music, and the customization of cars, doing up the stereo with quality aftermarket stuff is, well, well worth the investment, and pretty fun! Now that most head units are just a screen and run carplay etc, you dont have to deal with cheezy looking headunits, yeah.. big reccomend.

I am waiting for your video's of your trip buying a Mercedes in Athens and driving it to Berlin. Why didn't you sell it in Sindelfingen or Bremen? (location Mercedes factories). But seriously: I would have done it the other way: buying in Germany and selling in Athens. On German websites people say that the 190 and 200 are the models to drive a Mercedes cheaply. The 190 was the taxi in Western Europe for decades. Comfortable and almost indestructible. A nostalgic icon.

Good upgrades.... I only heard one positive opinion about the standard wheel... If you almost never drive in automatic mode...and you like to operate the steering wheel with one hand only On small narrow twisty roads or on tight european roads you can shift down or up instantly with one hand only. But yes the Sportdesign wheel is my 1st choice anyway...especially if you are used to paddle shifters with left down gears and right up gears...
@mrdanky55456 ай бұрын
i had the 997.2 with that shitty steering wheel, so unintuitive and badly designed, you've done well to find one for $600!! love the colour of your cayman too and the carplay mod looks great. I see you have the sport chrono already, so i think you already have sports exhaust? if so drill out the second set of cats, you'll still pass emissions tests and it sounds so much better plus youll get a couple extra hp

@francistsui49315 ай бұрын
That is not the latest model with PDK. I have 4 Cayman S, one Cayman R and a 911S and I have the sport steering wheel that is wonderful. Of course it costs more! The only thing I really don’t like are the “high tech” cup holders! 😂 I don’t care too much of the sound system I only use it to learn to the news!

Who ever designed the original wheel was probably one handed and he wanted people like him to be able to drive in manual mode though I wonder, why didn’t he make the right side the opposite of the left so that you can still drive in normal manual mode where pulling on the left down shifts and on the right or up shifts?

Well, up until now I only knew you from your Mac stuff. I'm sorry, but this is sad. Two problems: 1. A PDK? Really?!? No manual? You've got no reason to complain about shifting. Of course, I'm a lot older than you, and bemoaned the loss of downtube shifters on my Trek 1200 when I had to move to a 1.2. 2. If my left leg was amputated (or something), and I had to use a PDK instead of a manual, I absolutely disagree about the operation of the upshifts/downshifts. I would never want it to be left/right; I want it to be pull/push, using either hand, just as it is. I would want it to be pull for downshifts and push for upshifts, but I know I could get used to it either way. Btw: I owned a 986 and yes, it had a manual. Just to rub salt in your content, I just bought a Mac Pro 2013 three months ago (my first Mac; I've used Linux exclusively for >25 years) and couldn't be happier with it, other than having to use the Command key instead of Control, which I _am_ getting used to. I upgraded it to 64GB and an 8-core E5-2667 for ~$65, and it runs Sonoma with OCLP. While I still use Linux for servers and VMs, It's a great addition to my iPhone 11, Apple Watch 5, Beats Pros, and TV 4K 2021, and is now my main desktop machine. No, I don't have an iPad, and won't until I can code and manage files on it, which will probably be never, the way things are going with iPad"OS".
