Great video, Francisco. What could speed up your workflow quite a bit is Lightrooms select subject command you can then finetune it easily. It does a really good job and saves you lots of brushing 😉.

I use this a lot, but kept the edit as it is here because a lot of people still haven't updated lightroom, haha. But in a future edit video I'll use that feature to motivate people to update lightroom.

Love the tutorial! You can drag the little window that pops out from the adjustment brush and drag it in under the histogram and then there is a little eye you can turn on and off to disable the mask. Saves deleting it to check the effect. Thanks again for showing your process. Always appreciated :)

Nice video. Just something to add. When your painting with the brush in Lr, try subtracting your subject, you will be able to paint more loosely and faster getting in-between the legs, etc. Lr has come a long way from the old days.

You mean the auto detect subject feature? I use it a lot but just kept this edit as is for those who don't have the feature. Someone else pointed this out as well so in my next editing video I will use the auto detect subject.

@@fjhphoto Yes, the select subject feature through the subtract button after brushing. With current operating systems, the way Adobe has their business model set up now, and with their monitoring of cracked copies, I highly doubt that many people still use older versions of Lr (very few people).

What do you do to export to Instagram and Facebook vs exporting normally?

After the full resolution edit is finished I resize the image to be 2048px on the longest edge and then do one round of sharpening. I use the "high pass filter" method of sharpening at about 40-50%. That's for Facebook. For instagram I do the same thing except with a crop of 4:5 ratio to fit instagram.

Good editing pointers. I'm just wondering why you don't use "show mask" in lightroom (for some parts) as I find it's easier to identify areas being selected.

The red show mask? If yes I do use it sometimes but feel like bringing up the exposure a lot helps identify the mask better.

Its a good tip for the most part but when after editing a ton of pictures, the red overlay kinda starts to get in the way of your edit process. No one actually taught me this +4 exposure method but editing hundreds of thousands of pictures, I started leaning towards it myself since its a quick way to see where you've painted without being completely blinded (due to the red overlay) to what's happening to the photo by the adjustment.

@@pushpdeeppandey Definitely. It's good to use, at times, when some fine control is beneficial (around fine control areas and the brush set to auto mask) - I've found it to be of benefit to workflow (at times) but not all the time.

@@pushpdeeppandey absolutely agree. I actually wanted to mention what you said in your comment in my first reply. Over time the Red mask starts to blend too much into the photo and it makes it hard to see it.

I do that sometimes but over time I've found raising the exposure shows you the mask better. With the Red mask it can blend into some colors too much.
