I think that this video deserves more views. Very well explained. Good to see the exercises from different angles, too. It's almost like actually having a trainer in real life.

I praticed taekwondo by 10 years and i must say that these kicks have the same tkd's basics... Bruce trained with Jhoon Rhee, 12 dan in tkd today... Jhoon taught Bruce how to kick.

Thanks for your comment! I learned it a long time ago by a guy who's teacher was an 8th Dan Korean Grandmaster. TKD kicks are probably the most versatile techniques, considering the very effective Thai kicks and knowing how to defend/avoid them. And since JKD is an evolution of TKD, Fencing, Boxing and Wing Chun, the TKD kicks fit perfectly to the style.

No Bruce didn't train with Joon. They knew each other. Joon didn't teach Bruce how to kick. That's all horse crap.

Your kicks look great. There're people who advacate non- chambering to avoid telegraphing the kicks. Your view?
@franksjeetkunedo66613 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. I agree on short distance low kicks. Aiming higher needs control in order to not swing through, risking to be attacked from the back when there are no rules. In all cases, speed and precision help avoiding to telegraph your intension

Not a fan of starting from flat footed, squared off to the opponent and less of a fan of returning to that position after one kick. I like to be in a fighting stance, lift the knee and punch the kick out, recover back to a fighting position and move, don’t be where you were. I also like to have most of my weight on the ball of the supporting foot and get your hips into the kick, it should be penetrating not a snappy slap.

Yeah but this is just a demo of basics if he added in all the other stuff you mentioned it’s harder to see the mechanics

This is the exact opposite of how a Jeet Kune do kick should be executed. There is no chambering in Jeet Kune Do. Sorry "master" but you need to go back to school....

I have a question. I know bruce said to pull your leg after the kick. But would it be bad for you since you only standing on one leg?
@franksjeetkunedo66613 жыл бұрын
Hi Cody. A kick is always supposed to be a quick strike. You immediately want to go back on a two feet position. If you don't pull back your leg, you risk to offer your opponent a straight leg to be crushed
@ComicusFreemanius2 жыл бұрын
It's also pretty confusing for the person if they don't know what kick was even thrown they won't know how to defend. Millions of reasons to pull the foot back. Never stand around to admire your work lol
