Hi guys!
I have risen from my 'summer-coma' (as I like to call it) - I finally managed to sort through most of the mess that was created when one of my external harddrives died. You know, the one with all my current projects. Needless to say how delighted I was, eh?
Add some other problems and voilá: An involuntary 2 month break!
Anyways, the lovely 'Auratrice' wrote some german lyrics for 'Jijuu no Tsubasa' and asked me whether I'd like to sing them - since I just looove both openings for 'SnK' (then again: Who doesn't??) I was like: Hell yeah!
I'm sorry it is just the short version for now - if you guys really want me to I'll make a full version though!
Mixing the choir parts definitely was challenging, I do hope I did a decent job here (can't really tell at the moment, haha)

This song is perfect in German. I've always felt that spoken German is a very hard sounding language but in singing form, especially this one, it just sounds so cool somehow...

Remember it is a woman who speaks or sings it too. Men's voices tend to make a language sound more harsh, for an example Russian. While women speaks it, it sounds beautiful but when men speaks it, it sounds like they're planning to destroy the world :P

I WAS RIGHT. I told my friends (during a very spirited debate) that the second opening song of Shingeki no Kyojin would be the perfect war song when sung completely in German. And I was RIGHT. I can imagine brigades riding out with a German commander singing this to the top of his lungs atop a huge black (or white) horse. This was extremely beautiful and powerful, and I feel like the German lyrics give Jiyuu No Tsubasa/Flugel der Freiheit an extra SOMETHING that the Japanese lyrics have but don't convey as well. Very well done; I loved it!

It may dissappoint you but the song is NOT completly sung is german. It's only some parts like in the beginning the rest is japanese

Kilian .Soulfin Are you talking about the original version or PB's version? Unless my ears are defective (or can't distinguish between German and Japanese, in which case I'll cull myself now), PB's is completely in German, thus why it's called a German cover. I'm well aware of the original mostly being in Japanese.

Se Naeke Sorry but I disagree - we have a lot of amazing voice actors in Germany, they're definitely NOT horrible... It really pains me to see such a general statement from a fellow native german, please don't colour everyone with the same brush.

I just hope that they find some good actors for Attack on Titan like they did in the German Synchro of "Code Geass". I don't know if you watch stuff like Navi CIS, but some of those actors actually are in Code Geass and they are really good(:

The stuff on TV is not sooo good in my opinion. But I guess the DVD's are kind of expensive to just buy them for fun, without even knowing how good the Anime is. I can really recommend Code Geass though(; Maybe you can find it somewhere on the internet. You know, the "definitely legal" way.

The problem with German (or English) dubs usually is cultural censorship, not the voiceactor's lack of skill...

Se Naeke The german synchro industry is probably the worlds best, actually. Simply everything is dubbed in German TV. There are two problems why this doesn't hold true for anime though: 1. cultural censorship, as Cinni Vitamini mentioned and 2. Anime is a niche market in Germany and therefore the voice actors who do anime dubbing in german normally aren't as good as those who dub american TV Shows or hollywood movies.

You have to remember that world within the walls had a german style of culture, from clothing to technological contraptions. The most iconic AoT Ost song also having german lyrics isa big giveaway. Its beautiful for its diversity and heart put onto it

The more difficult part is the grammar. If you've understood the basicrules of pronounciation it will be rather easy but then you will come to the mainproblem - german has one of the words most complicated grammar - I'm speaking and writing since 3 so that makes 14 years of constant learning and STILL I can't write perfectly right due to the complexity of the grammar. But: don't let that hold you back. If you're not interested in writing then it will be a lot easier :P

German's pronounciation is very easy, some rules and then you just have to pronounce every letter.. It's way tougher in English!! Get ready for the grammar, purely horrible to write correcty without doing a mistake, especially with Male/Female/Neutral, a true nightmare.. Viel Glück mein Freund
