Love the videos. Thank you for showing us the unit. Ive seen them and never got my hands on them. I think you should look more into a mini skid forestry mulcher. Kills it all. Stay safe bud! God bless!

I ran the bobcat excavator one on an E35 for a couple winters clearing ditches. They hold up really well. The higher you keep the RPM the better. I would flip or change blades ever 100 to 150 hours. Never broke a knife or major part in over 1000 hours.

Totally worth it. I really appreciated that vid. We have jungle dwn here in Fl so that tool can be a body saver. Full size skid with forestry pkg is pretty expensive. So that intermediate step of flail mower on a mini skid you allready have, is an inexpensive no brainer.😜
@jenniferwhitewolf37845 жыл бұрын
Not bad for a stand-on... I'm used to seeing 'forestry munchers' on sit inside tracked skid steer. You could use this for a side business doing brush clearing in addition to tree work. A bigger skid-steer mulcher would cost more, but be more durable, far more powerful, and have a greater scope of utility, potentially having even higher return on investment in woods work that this one could not even dream of doing.

Hey Aug. I've never seen a more classy tree outfit in my life brother! Stay humble man. You've clearly got this. Hey, I was watching a vid of several years ago when Derek came aboard, where you were talking being 47 as a "message" of your mortality. Now you're wide open looks like.....

August, how are you liking this thing after this much time? I’m trying to decide between this and a rotary cutter. I’m planning on using something for more woody material than grass. Stuff like privet and other small saplings in the woods or at the edge of the woods. Have you used a rotary style cutter for your mini that you could compare which is more preferable?

Thanks for the demo! ..... I think I could have cut down that row of blackberry bushes in about the same amount of time with my 21" push mower... maybe, if the stalks weren't more than about 3/8", although admittedly probably wouldn't be the best thing for my mower.
@Akcd11r20025 жыл бұрын
Work smarter not harder... time and energy saved cleaning the brush can be applied to other stuff. Like others said below, the mower can be sold as a service of it’s own. I do feel what your saying with the price tag though... Seems like all equipment now-a-days is priced way high. But... the manufacturers gotta pay for those nano precise CNC machines, laser guided welders, gps stock carts and rfid coffee cups somehow......

Hey August have you ever considered buying a skidsteer with a cab? Or maybe you have one. Anyway there are a multitude of attatchments for them that seem alot more powerful. Looks like a real Big Boy Toy. Not as fast, but much less expensive and potentially more precise, my tool of choice for such clearing is a 25-27 cc brushcutter with steel blade. Blade would be 3- or 4-knife 11-12" blade for 1/2" or smaller, or 40-80-tooth carbide-insert or steel saw-blade for bigger woody stuff. 9" chainsaw-cutter blades are ferocious on woody stems; they and the 3- or 4-knife blades. are easy to sharpen in the field

get a Brush Destructor head and youll never fool with those again. Brushdestructor.com
@jacquesblaque77285 жыл бұрын
I do NOT "fool" with the blades I mention, nor with possible amputation from bits flying off your "destructor". Not for nothing, I'm told, there are jurisdictions in which they are not allowed for that reason. I'll pass, TY.
@wpog84535 жыл бұрын
@@jacquesblaque7728 if you did a little research and understood how the Brush Destructor unit was made, you'd realize that what you're referring to is a non issue. This is not one of the cheap box store flail attachments that break when they wear down. These are used mostly by commercial operations and have been in production for the better part of 15 years. Ive owned them for 3 years myself. There hasn't been a catastrophic failure to date and they are designed to hold up to $1000 50cc commercial brush cutters. Never ceases to amaze me how many like yourself will assert all manner of things about a product as if you're an expert on it but actually had zero knowledge of it until I mentioned it. I'm guessing you glanced at a few pictures on the site, skipped the volumes of literature that were provided, and gave me your expert opinion.
@jacquesblaque77285 жыл бұрын
You might try to not be so condescending. I did look into them, maybe not to the extent that you would compel me to. IMO, too many moving parts, when there are so many different types of blades WITHOUT MOVING PARTS that get the job done just fine for us. If that offends you, your problem. Did you scan my original?
@wpog84535 жыл бұрын
@@jacquesblaque7728 yes I admit I was being a little condescending toward your remark. I didn't mean any harm to you personally by it. Just trying make a point that you're making a rather arrogant assumption about something that you don't yet know much about. Take it for what it's worth but if you're satisfied with the blades you mentioned for your application, then you would actually save money over a short amount of time with the Brush Destructor...in spite of the high initial cost. A homeowner could wear out several cheap brush cutters on one Brush Destructor. Yes it has moving parts but it's actually the most durable blade on the market. The flails are sharpenable and replaceable and cost around $40 per set. You should get around 200-300 hrs. per set and mind you you're production will be well above any other blade for the time spent. You'll likely never wear the head itself out with average use. A homeowner would probably never wear one set of blades out.

Hi, i'm in Western Australia & when we have bushfire season nearly upon, flail/plow tractors, bush bandits like this earn their money & can make good money for you, before buying anything like this see if there's a market for it & if there is, go for it...I didn't think there was, it was soon apparent I was wrong.
@warped28754 жыл бұрын
You need to put on hammer cutters on it instead of the two piece knives that you have on it to do small woody plants and saplings. The knives that are on there are for grass and hay like material.

You're the kind of guy I could be proud to work for, and that I could be confident in my safety with. Email me, if you're interested at all. No joke; After the crane incident, it's about time to get out of MA, escape the weather and taxes. I come bearing a beaver belt and a 441 haha. Let me know, no pressure (obviously), hope you and yours are well. Stay safe.

I was a little worried about the dog scampering around;it kinda of looked like a terrier,sometimes they try and attack moving equipment. I've got a Jagdterrier that wasn't afraid of attacking any machine that moved when he was a young dog.He went after my wheelbarrow with a solid rubber flat free tire and 4 baby teeth snapped off in the tire when it flipped him around the axle.Another youtuber cotontop3 has a Jagdterrier named Tater that chases after his backhoe bucket ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJm6loN6h7ygb68 It would be nice if the flail had some sort of slipping clutch or way to automatically disengage the hydraulics in case a rock or chunk of wood gets jammed in between the rotating cutter and the flail body.

One problem: Its so tempting to destroy poison oak/ivy with something like this. That makes sure all the parts become toxic. You can't change the flails or do anything more complicated than greasing the zerks and maybe not that depending on where they are located. Wearing rubber gloves and a Tyvek suit won't protect your face from the splash while cleaning it with a pressure washer. It needs its own trailer with clamps set up so you won't have to strap it down. Whoever runs it needs a good eye for the ugly stuff. Sometimes the choice of avoidance or decontamination isn't available. Its a great option mechanically. There will always be people around who are not aware of the precautions needed. How much will the shop tack on to the repair bill if the mechanic needs a trip to the ER after working on this? The risks are manageable like most other risks in the business. Its just hard to keep curious tourists away.
