My AC has not been getting cold enough, and the passenger side seemed warmer than the driver’s side. Sometimes the AC would be cold even when it was hot out and other times it would barely be cold even when it was not above 80 degrees outside. I figured it was probably low on refrigerant as you lose some over time with age and the car is 6 years old. Figured I would give this a try. I started up the AC on my 2015 Sonata Hybrid and let it run a while, it was only coming out at 62 degrees. Put the included pressure gauge on and it was reading just at the top of the green area. So I gave this a try and got it up to the just about the middle of the blue area, did not want to overcharge it. The temperature coming out of the ducts dropped to 38 degrees. Very pleased now, hopefully the problem was just slight loss of refrigerant over time and not a leak that drains it down soon. Will have to wait and see.

@@flannelguydiy6458 the product in the link says not available now, plus why is it expensive compared to others which I've seen costs less than $ 40. Is there a reason why this one should cost about $170.00 according to the link in the description?! Please tell me there's a legit reason or it was by mistake. I need to get refrigerant for the first time. Mechanics used to charge me about $120.00 everytime I go for AC issues! I think they're rip offs. I have just found your channel, because in my HONDA CIVIC 2004 (purchased used in 2011) it seems like the A/C is not working at all! Before going to PEP Boys or similar, I was looking for DIY options to save some bucks. I usually do/fix anything I can in my home, watching KZbin videos, but I have not done any mayor thing on my car. I read the comments below...and I am sure, that if I go to one of these places, they will find a leak or something else that need to be repaired...they always do (I am a woman), then I give them the dirty look or just say straight away that they are out of their mind and sometimes they give me an alternative 😀

Steve... thanks for watching. Followed the instructions on the can by tipping the can back and forth like you saw in the video. Based upon where the fitting was inside the engine compartment and short filler tube on the can... there really was no way to hold it upright AND tilt back and forth. Possibly just a unique situation with this particular vehicle. That being said...I made the video almost 2 years ago and it is still running cold!

Not sure what brand you are using. It could mean that you either already have too much refrigerant in your system or the gauge is malfunctioning. I would call the number on the can of the product that you are using and ask them since it is their product. You could also remove the can and try it again. It is possible to get a false reading if you do not install the can to the fitting properly.

@flannelguydiy6458
@flannelguydiy6458 6 жыл бұрын
Bailey, the reality is that the AC system is supposed to be a completely sealed system. There are times when they get a pin hole leak somewhere. That is usually why you need to recharge it. Now, how long it lasts really depends upon how well sealed your AC system is. No way to truly tell. The bottom line is that doing this is MUCH cheaper than replacing the components of your system. Even if you have to do it every year.

Incorrect! If you hold it on 6 o'clock position, it will spill liquid into a system and you don't what it on the low pressure chamber. It must be on 12 o'clock position and you can shake it up to 90 degrees only.
