Great video. I also appreciate the approach of avoiding any visible damage if possible. That bottom spring loaded bracket seems very challenging. Thanks for sharing

That's awesome! I have the same 1st gen mini silver from 2004 and thinking about upgrading the storage. The click wheel has been unresponsive and not sure what to do with it though.

Pro tip when dealing with adhesive use a heat gun or hair dyer to help loosen the glue. Also disconnect the battery before you do anything on the board because you will end up damaging something. Ifixit is pretty detailed and plenty guides on KZbin so you can avoid damaging it. Slow down on your Teardowns. Otherwise nice video.

I wanna do this to my old 80g iPod Video. It's had a battery replaced by Apple at 3 yrs old (new in 2005) but is surprisingly still going. They just last. I too it all over UK, Germany to France & bk to Canada. It was my travel Apple TV companion w/ HDMI adapter.

It's so incredible how these devices last. I recently bought a mini for 26€, and it lasted really well with a powerbank in a school trip. Apple really put dedication there.

Do you know the brand of this red CF to SD adapter / where did you buy it from? I heard some of these red adapters don't work in iPod Mini.

hey mate, did you format the flash card before putting it in the cf adapter? great video.
@MattsTech8 ай бұрын
I did, yes, though if you forget to, iTunes will handle that for you, and if that doesn't work, the iPod itself will show up in Disk Utility.

Dang it. That red card didn’t work for me. I used a 256 Samsung pro plus.

I cheaped out and went with a not amazing adapter. Thinking back on it, I’m surprised it worked (and still works actually). I would suggest getting an iFlash adapter. While they’re more expensive, they usually work 99% of the time.

Late at this point but have you tried a different SD card? My mini gen 2 is in the mail, went to order the iflash adapter and they're sold out. Order the red adapter and have a 128 Samsung eco(?) SD card ready for it. My classic 6th gen has the green Samsung SD and its been working a treat for 4+ years
