I was going to build your first design, but didn't get to it, yet. Procrastination pays?? You did knock it out of the park with this one. Nicely done.

You're welcome. This was always meant to be an open source video for anyone who wanted to try their hands at building a gasifier.

This is what I call real talent, excellent ideas, problem solving, and engineering. I have turned off the TV at night and turned to Flash. Thanks for sharing.

I know that feeling. I watch a lot of other peoples videos on stuff they build on a wide range of things. KZbin has been a great thing for people like myself that like to tinker.

Great! I'd really like to see a close up of how you mounted this to your generator. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. I know you have moved on to other projects

This design works well but I really liked the simplicity of the first design I did with just the PVC pipe and a few threaded rods along with the fact there are no special brass parts that have to be purchased so I went back and corrected the first design and now it works great too. I wound up adding some rubber bushings to the side adjustments along with using wing nuts that could be used to keep things tight enough to stop the baffles from slipping but would still allow you to reach down and make the carburetor adjustments when needed.

I really like the looks of the carb you built! Great idea! I believe I would have to make an air filter cover tho to protect it. I was thinking that a short piece of 4 inch thin wall sewer pipe with end caps would work great for that with holes drilled in the bottom one for air inlets would keep it dry if used in the rain! Great vid!

Hey thanks. Yeah, a cover would be a good idea too. If I have to run it in bad weather, I'll probably run it under a canopy to protect everything.

Very nice indeed :) . I thought about making my own set of mixing valves like you have done, but was always put off by the prospect of vibration induced 'self adjustment'. It looks like you might have bowled that one over. Just wondering, do you think the nylon on the main locknut will wear out over time, and permit the new valve to respond to vibrations? Perhaps if you put some gummy stuff on the threaded rod, it will keep it nice and stiff even when the nyloc wears out. Hmmm, I wonder if magnets could be helpful in some way.... Fingers crossed for great results from this new creation :) .

Hey man the GREAT thing about this build is EVERY part is replaceable! If the nylon in the lock nut wears out I'll just replace the nut. I thought well ahead on this just for the reasons you mentioned. The threaded also rod acts as a fine tuning gear and this will allow me to get the mixture right on the mark too so it won't be near as touchy like the other carburetor I had.

Did you just make a "globe valve", like the kind on a garden spigot?
Hey thanks for the vote of confidence. I did this because I was looking for an alternate emergency fuel to run a generator with.

Evening flash, Riem here from a HOT South Africa.... I wish to introduce your GREAT design into my setup as alternative energy source - we have daily power cuts here and load shedding due to very poor planning the past 20 odd years..... Anyway, I'm looking at powering a 14 Kw generator with a Ford V6 (3,0 litre) engine. Do you think your design can handle this size engine? If so, what sizes should I increase and where (larger cone, larger barrel, etc)? I'd really appreciate your input!!! Kind regards, and keep up the good work!!

This gasifier is a small engine gasifier. Take a look at Wayne Keith's builds. He builds them big enough to run big engines.
@bobnkaren629 жыл бұрын
why don't you a 3/4" gate valve you can snug up the packing nut to stop any unwanted movement, and the gate is micro adjustable just like a carburator on a motorcycle, it would be a lot less work.

+Millwright Thanks for the input. This is what I like about posting videos because others like yourself come up with either improvements or better ideas to a build.

Thanx man, this looks very cool. Im gonna try it out right away. Flash 001, besides, I have a problem of tarr (carbon) build ups around my carb and valve heads, how can I eliminate that.
@flash001USA10 жыл бұрын
If you have tar issues that's not good but if it's carbon, just filter it out. Some of the "drive on gas" people say that soot going through the engine is acceptable and maybe it is. If it's a little it probably will just pass through the engine but if it's a lot it may collect if it combines with the moisture in the gas and collect as a "fake" tar and that can cause almost the same issues as real tar with the only difference being that the engine cleans a bit easier during the overhaul process.

flash001USA Thank you for the explanations; Someone suggested that I use water scrubber; have you done that before? Do you think it would work?

Have you ever flame tested the fuel air mix to the engine, post carb, to see what color or effect the tuning may reveal?
@flash001USA7 жыл бұрын
No but I can tell you that it will technically burn cleaner because you are introducing air into the gas.

hey man how is it going its been a wile we have almost finished the volkswood its been slow around here last month b\c one a year we have to do fire clearance but its done i was just quriouse if u went any farther O.o

Long time no hear. It sounds like you're getting your project where you want it. Have you made anymore videos? I've been wide open so my time is tight but things are moving forward. I've made some upgrades and improvements and now I am going to automate a few things on this project.
@xoxoXoieoxox10 жыл бұрын
i did a reactor install vid (short) in the volkswood and today i fitted the cyclone rad and bed filter man its tight but dose all fit im going to do another vid latter when its completely installed i hope i don't run out of budget i have a bout 60$ left for it and the only big thing i need is a pvc ball valve 2" for the air fuel mix im going to use it for a transition valve too =3-

at this time of the year we have to do fire clearance and it is paramount the it had to be done by the first just made it but now the fun can resume GAME ON!! lol =3-
