What makes it even better is the mixed reactions. The prisoners around him simply formed a circle to start praying while the guards looked completely panicked about their impeding demise. Honestly I think of a situation such as this happened in real life you'd see a similar outcome. Everyone would think "Fuck those other people!" but nobody wants to be the one to press the button.
@twisted_nether373
@twisted_nether373 2 жыл бұрын
@@eginteractive I guarantee you that if not the prisoners, the parents on another boat would press it in a heartbeat. In a movie about a superhero my suspension of disbelief was ruined by this very scene. Any large group of people would be subjected to mass hysteria in an instant once they face certain doom. Shit, it doesn't even have to be that drastic. Have you seen the Black Friday videos? People will trample people for some fucking TVs, and Nolan's telling us they would sacrifice themselves for someone they've never even met? Sorry, I call bullshit.

Heath Ledger's death was a result of acute intoxication caused by a combination of prescription medications. The autopsy revealed that he had taken a mixture of painkillers, anti-anxiety medications, and sleeping pills. Some of the specific drugs found in his system included oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. It's important to note that Ledger had been struggling with insomnia and anxiety, and the medications he took were prescribed to him by different doctors. The combination of these drugs, along with potential issues related to their dosage and interactions, ultimately led to his accidental overdose.

@@xxstealerxx I love that he came prepared with both his own detonator and the fall of Harvey Dent. It shows that Joker wasn't as confident in the inherent evil within humanity as he pretended to be. If he was, he wouldn't have had two backup plans. This is also the first time in the entire movie where Batman understands who the Joker truly is. Beneath the makeup and maniacal laughter is a weak man who's desperate to prove his worldview not just to others, but also to himself. "What were you trying to prove? That deep down, everyone's as ugly as you? You're alone."

@@lukecrawford1215 No, that would be more like depression. Its possible that a person could no longer care about anything in the world at the point and just decide to do whatever they want, but they wouldn't go crazy. How you drive people into madness, you have to make them feel like they are never safe or never alone. Every moment, their looking over their shoulder as if someone is watching them. Walk by random people on the street thinking, 'one of these people could be looking to kill me, mug me, spying on me or are following me.' People that come back from war often come back broken and driven into madness because for a few months, a year, or years, they have always been paranoid of when the next bomb will hit, where the next enemy ambush is, will they ever make it back alive, and so on. Madness is more subjective to your awareness of self and surroundings than it is to loss.

@ultimate0706

I don't think it was disgust. Inmates in general put up a mean face all the time for reputation/survival reasons, it's as simple as that. And if the officer had wanted to blow up the other boat he would've. The reason he handed the detonator to the inmate was to transfer the power of deciding whether the other boat blows up to someone else. That doesn't necessarily mean he intended to blow up the other boat, it could just mean he didn't want to take part in the decision.

Whenever someone asked why, he said he wasn't playing the Joker's game anymore and he certainly wasn't playing Bane's. He actually helped Gorden and his people find the bomb in time to place the jammer and, on Gordon's recommendation, he was given a parole. @@susane8 Practicality is a blessing. If you rationalise what we consider good and evil, you see that good has benefits regardless of ideology. And evil is simply unsustainable. And imo, the distortion of an otherwise functioning mind can actually come from the desire to be good. It's hardbaked into how we function. So when someone does something wrong they are forced to deal with the contradiction by twisting the definition of 'good'. A liar thinks that everyone's as deceitful as he is. The Joker thinks he's on a crusade to reveal the 'truth' of the world. Two-Face thinks he's being truly just and unbiased by basing his actions on random chance. At least that's my take on it.

@@anxiousearth680 Your comment made me realize that TwoFace bases his 50/50 rationale on how Batman saved him. Batman had to chose Harvey or his girlfriend to save which is basically a coin toss. @@herecomesthebam1919 That's just dishonest, and if you want to talk about pacing End Game was a chaotic mess that didn't even follow the comics, just completely copped out with fucking time travel. From the police guard at the door, to Harvey Dent, to Joker himself, everyone's acting in this was amazing and if you actually paid attention you could see the subtle cinematography and genius through suggestion alone, or just interpretation alone. This is coming from a hardcore Marvel fan by the way, and unlike many of the Marvel film's empty headed viewers I actually know Black Panther was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. I always get chocked up watching this scene. Right at the part where Joker says “I think you and I, are destined to do this forever.” 3:20 And it’s not because Ledger died too soon. It’s because after all the incarnations of Batman, whether it’s the old Adam West 1960’s Batman show or the Tim Burton, Jack Nicholson Joker. Or the many episodes of the Mark Hamill Batman animated series and even the Batman Arkham video game franchise. No matter what version of Batman you grew up with, Batman and Joker have always acted like this dysfunctional married couple. And they literally will continue to do the same thing forever. Joker gets caught and Batman locks him away, and then Joker breaks out of jail and the whole process repeats. And we as Batman fans will watch every incarnation of this, and love every second of this. I am forever grateful that I got to witness all these variations of Batman in my lifetime!

@@GuyOnAChair that's because it's HDR which is High Dynamic Range, it's not off color, your phone automatically changes the brightness depending on the video, for eg the darker pixels of the video will appear more dynamically appear more dark and the whiter pixels will appear more brighter so as to make the video as real as life.

@@GuyOnAChair and by off color, do you mean a bit yellow? If that's the case, that means your phone supports HDR technology.

The camera rotating so the joker is rightside up while hanging upside down was some interesting cinematography. Conveys how his natural state is at odds with the correct orientation of the world, aka everyone else who proved the joker wrong in this scene.

I think they were just trying to make him look crazier lol. People really think that the writers tried to convey so many thoughts with the flipping of the camera. And we don't know whose decision it was to flip the camera, since drawing the story board usually involves several major department heads of the film. Shit this could have been flipped in post by the editor. And it could be that, Joker and Batman are seeing eye to eye, since the joker had an ace in his pocket with two face. Could be anything. I doubt its anything but "make him look crazier."
