As for "finding kryptonite", it doesnt grow every corner. He wouldnt have time to do so if they kill him as soon as they beaten superman. They also lack any restraint, if Lex somehow has them in one place with a kryptonite, they can eyebeam him to death or snap his neck.

I have thought about this.... In the first Superman, Lex almost kills Superman by tricking him to take some Kryptonite, so he's very dangerous. Superman knows this, but Zod doesn't. I would imagine that Lex would search for the piece that was thrown away, (or find / construct more). Of course, Zod doesn't know any of this. However, although Zod wants power and rule, he doesn't appear to know how to Govern. Lex does. He also seems very useful and loyal. I would imaging that someone like Lex, due to his intelligence and creativity would make ruling a lot more interesting than just sitting in the Oval office doing nothing.

One of the nice touches in the scene is Nan clearly understanding what is happening and being able to portray that in a non verbal way. He is not just a brute, but an integral part of what is occurring and why. Great acting

Was it as great a movie as Superman? No. But this was a very entertaining flick with a great story. The scenes with Zod, etc, are well done. And Hackman's Luthor is awesome as always.
