Stamp's Zod is more accurate to his comic book counterpart. Zod seeks world domination and global validation, which is what Stamp portrays. Shannon's Zod was just a bloodthirsty killer. He claimed everything he did was for the greater good, but he got to the point where he was just obsessed with killing.

Zod 😁ing for his glamour portrait in the White House while squeezing off an M-16 at paper army men before forcing the president to "kneel before Zod" & immasculating the males in the Oval Office. Among the greatest super villain scenes in modern film history for the sheer pulp & lack of CGI eye candy alone!

This scene is pretty goofy, but I LOVE how General Zod starts using a rifle when he gets his hands on one. I think most writers would've opted for him NOT to pick up a human weapon, perhaps to reinforce that god-like quality, or perhaps Zod would think himself above such a thing. But I love this detail of him choosing to try out a human firearm. Not only is it hilarious in a meta sense, but it actually shows a piece of Zod's character. He's curious about this new world, but we've seen that already. No, it shows his affinity for violence, his love for it. He's not the worthy king he sees himself as, but a a bully - or a THUG. He rules purely by violence and has a cruel streak, shown in him using the humans' weapons against them, even when he doesn't need to. Pretty cool, that little moment. It's part of why Zod is so memorable as a villain, even today.

I thought it made perfect sense for him to pick it up on there home world they don’t have super strength or heat vision they are “normal” soldiers they would need weapons to fight and wall they are advanced when it comes to technology some thing are universal if you have a human like hand the weapon will more then likely have a grip and a trigger so when they use it he sees what it is and by useing it he gets a feel for how they would use it

For a long time, I was curious what Zod meant by that line. "No one who leads so many could possibly kneel so quickly." If I'm not mistaken, that means a leader would at least negotiate and/or plea for the people he's leading, not simply kneel without a word.

Based on from what I read about the military, it's always assumed that in surrender/defeat, the person in charge would either go all out (no retreat, no surrender) or ask for terms for surrender because they have the lives of the men/people that they are protecting in their hands. The President in the Commander of the armed forces in the US so Zod would have known - which says a lot about Zod's background and experience - that, even if he steam rolled into the White House, he would have expected someone to say: "What do you want?" and "If we give up, will you stop harming people?"

My goodness I can't believe I haven't seen this deleted scene before in Superman 2 movie I watch this movie so many times in my childhood time even now as well, I wish they keep this deleted scene in the movie because it makes General Zod more dangerous & he is a true evil villain and even his assistance as well one my favorite super villains ever. They should make a extended movie of it. Now I do understand why they didn't put this other deleted scene in the movie, with that deleted scene when Non killed that boy riding his horse to get some help and I see why they did not put that scene in movie. But thank you for finding that.
