Expired food is perfectly good to eat, in fact you may have months to safely eat the food after the sell by date. There is so much confusion about expire dates, sell by dates, use by dates. This video will clear up what those marking on the side of packages really means and save you tons of money!

FREEZING BREAD HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!! ... My bread used to always go moldy before I could finish it, and I really hate throwing food away. You'll NEVER have to throw another moldy loaf of bread away again! I encourage you all to try freezing your bread, it really does keep its fresh texture! Especially if you toast it a little!

My sister came up with freezing her avocados. She was looking for the frozen avocados at Costco and could never find them. Light bulb moment, I can freeze them myself. Flash freeze them, put them into a plastic bag and you have avocados for your smoothies etc. I had to throw out so many avocados because of over ripeness, not anymore. The avocados don’t discolor when frozen.

in Europe sell-by dates are mandatory by law and were introduced in Marks & Spencer's storerooms in the 1950s before making their way on to the shelves in 1970 - it wasn't even actually called a "sell-by-date" until 1973 - in the United States, federal law requires only that infant formula be 'sell by' dated but many states (including mine) have similar regulations/laws for products like milk, eggs and meat -

One little tip i do have though, if your bread is getting a little dry or stale, but is still in date, put the slices you want into the microwave on high power for 10 seconds, freshens up beautiful :)

We tested many expired products from my neighbor’s pantry. Although nothing was spoiled, flavor and color were greatly diminished. Also, her pantry is adjacent to her laundry room where she used and stored scented laundry products. Anything in a box like cracker,s, cereal, plastic storage containers and boxes of plastic baggies and plastic wrap that had been in the pantry at least a year smelled like dryer sheets even after being in a different location for several weeks. All the crackers and cereals were stale in texture and off in flavor.

I will buy a couple of the shelf stable milks just to have on hand in case of a long power outage, it has come in handy more than once.

Thanks for sharing this video. It’s good to know how much longer past the due dates some foods can still last for. I threw out a bunch of expired canned goods not really knowing they’re still good for awhile.

I do that with berries so that the ones on the bottom don't collect all the moisture. I just flipped them over once or twice a day and they don't usually get the fuzzies before I eat them up.

Ok, I know you said bread gets stale faster in the refrigerator but I have seen the opposite. My bread has lasted much longer in the fridge.

Thanks for the video! Just sent it to my boyfriend who has been stocking for the possible apocalypse. I also enjoyed the meat special segment. I buy discounted proteins when on sale and immediately put them in the freezer for fear that they will be unusable if I don’t .
