Well, her Father was instrumental in her writing the song, because he's the one who encouraged her to stay true to her goal of she and Lindsey becoming successful singer-songwriters. Her Dad telling her to "not give up", is what inspired her to sit and write the song on her acoustic guitar, alone in Colorado, looking at the snow-covered mountains. (Her Dad always considered the song to be related to him, that's why she dedicated it to him, in 1997.) She also wrote, "Rhiannon" within that same week, in 1974, just months before Mick Fleetwood asked Lindsey and her to join Fleetwood Mac.

Great review. Those two were in a relationship for many years and fell apart during the recording of Rumours, the 8th best selling album of all time, any genre. Most of its songs speak about what they were going through. The 1997 live version of "Silver Springs" is a great song that isn't reacted to much.

A little historical context.. Buckingham/Nicks we’re a duo in Phoenix, AZ who played the local clubs and had an album.. This song was actually recorded 20 years earlier. This was just the live version. She dedicated to her Dad because out of all the songs she made, this was his favorite. It was written by her about the breakup with her ex, who by the way is playing the guitar for her. You can still see the feelings they still have for each, the way they kept looking at each other longingly, but just couldn’t make love work. But they have remained friends ever since.

The story behind “Landslide” as told by Stevie Nicks: It was written in 1973 at a point where Lindsey [Buckingham] and I had driven to Aspen for him to rehearse for two weeks with Don Everly. Lindsey was going to take Phil’s place. So they rehearsed and left, and I made a choice to stay in Aspen. I figured I’d stay there and one of my girlfriends was there. We stayed there for almost three months while Lindsey was on the road, and this is right after the Buckingham Nicks record had been dropped. And it was horrifying to Lindsey and I because we had a taste of the big time, we recorded in a big studio, we met famous people, we made what we consider to be a brilliant record and nobody liked it (laughs). I had been a waitress and a cleaning lady, and I didn’t mind any of this. I was perfectly delighted to work and support us so that Lindsey could produce and work and fix our songs and make our music. But I had gotten to a point where it was like, “I’m not happy. I am tired. But I don’t know if we can do any better than this. If nobody likes this, then what are we going to do?” So during that two months I made a decision to continue. “Landslide” was the decision. [Sings] “When you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills”-it’s the only time in my life that I’ve lived in the snow. But looking up at those Rocky Mountains and going, “Okay, we can do it. I’m sure we can do it.” In one of my journal entries, it says, “I took Lindsey and said, We’re going to the top!” And that’s what we did. Within a year, Mick Fleetwood called us, and we were in Fleetwood Mac making $800 a week apiece (laughs). Washing $100 bills through the laundry. It was hysterical. It was like we were rich overnight.

The song is epically beautiful, it is about the break-up with the guy that you see playing the guitar, Lindsey Buckingham, her ex-husband, not boyfriend. Jay, I think you were looking for the word "vibrato", she has a very rapid vibrato, one of the things her voice is known for. What else is there about the song? Well Jay, let me put it in very simple terms; it's performed by Stevie Nicks (and written). If you want to know what every man is in love with and smitten by....you just saw it on your video, that's it!
