I could be mistaken, but I believe this version of Rhiannon is called "rosebud.". another very similar performance was Rhiannon on The Midnight Special in '77 I think. I snuck a cassette recorder into their concert in 1978. I wonder if I uploaded it if I would get in trouble. the way she sang Sisters of the Moon is up there with the two Rhiannon's. Sadly, it's because of performances like this that her vocal cords were damaged. I read that she had to be trained to sing in a different way that wasn't so harmful to her vocal cords. RIp Christine. At 5:35 Stevie goes to another place. It’s a dimension we are allowed to witness but never enter for it is only for her. I am not sure she was even the least bit self aware at that moment because the music took over. My god I love this music.

As a musician of a much more humble level I've glimpsed that state myself, albeit to much less glorious results, and it is truly a rapturously beautiful place to be. I can see why so many artist do drugs - chasing that high from those moments of peak performance that they can't get in their downtime

@@jenniferprice4697, no doubt that was apart of her life, you’re not special in thinking that in that she has admitted it. Have you ever gone to a place in your mind? A place that is only for you? A place where all your doubt, pain, concerns and fears disappear, if only for a moment, because you are in that place. You may not believe in that, its not required that you do.

Dude this performace is so mind-blowing and even life-altering it's almost like I want to start a discussion group somewhere about this video because so many people talk about, were deeply affected by it, and are even obsessed with it. What the hell did Stevie channel at the end of this song??? Can you imagine how blown away the live crowd must have been when she went off? It's almost scary what happens at the end of this performance... I half-expect her to morph into a monster
@dukeon3 жыл бұрын
@@ObiWanGinobiliTopFan It was Rhiannon herself. Stevie just channeled her raw pagan magic into those last few minutes and we got to hear the real deal. That’s how I imagine it, anyway. It is one of those transcendent sort of things you rare get in music, and when it happens it’s almost always live and never quite reproducible. If you ever do start that discussion group, let me know here! With a name like ObiWanGinobili anything you do is bound to be interesting }:8)

@@brewsterly2927 - That one does rock. Slicker camera work, same non-LP version as this. But Lindsey’s solo is sorta halfhearted (and half as long), and somehow Stevie doesn’t quite cut loose for the last couple minutes. She almost does, but it’s like: Nah, it’s daytime, I’m gonna keep a little in reserve. Whereas here, it could be some club in the middle of the night, and the whole band are off their t*ts. Just my opinion :-)
