half bank on = it banks in half. Half bank off = full rate. IRL, the jets I fly we don't touch half bank most of the time. It turns on by itself at high altitudes at 30-35k depending on the airplane. The only time half bank is used really is if there is an engine failure and you're maneuvering while climbing for example. If you use half bank at low altitudes when ATC is expecting standard rate turns they may get a bit grumpy because they are expecting turns to be made at standard rate at lower altitudes.

So one question, I have a problem and I’ll give you an example, I fly a short flight from Tampa to Miami. My second waypoint put me at 35,000 ft and my next one was 15,000 , how come it doesn’t automatically drop altitude when updating or going to the next waypoint? I tried all of those buttons and the plane just wanted to stay at one altitude even when I manually set it to 15k. Why is my altitude not adjusting it’s like there’s a block on it or something. It’s either what it stays stuck on or manual flying so I had to just dive bomb out of the air to make the airport lol and it sucks. Thanks

Course is used for NDBs and VORs as well as ILS approaches using Localisers. If the plane does not have a GPS, you're going to need those to fly to where you're going. we call them radials. Back course flies away from them. ie (west) 270° 90° (east),

Probably too late of a comment, but I hope you're still checking comments. The autopilot on this plane and many other planes are completely insane. I'll be taking off and everything is normal, then I set the autopilot when I get above 1000 or 2000 feet and it does either a complete nosedive or a death spiral. I've tried reinstalling the entire game and even unplugging my joystick and nothing has fixed this bug. The CJ4 specifically just goes into a death spiral and it's impossible to use this autopilot. If you have any suggestions for this please get back to me, because I cannot find a solution online. Thanks.

so a way to remember the difference between FLC and VS is to use FLC when you care more about holding speed, and VS when you care more about your climb?
@AlibifortheAfterlife4 жыл бұрын
More specifically, you should use FLC mode whenever you don't need to hold a very specific VS (i.e. VOR/DME approaches or RNAV approaches without VNAV). The stall safety is too good to ignore especially considering how buggy fs2020's autopilot is.
@JordanTerzakos4 жыл бұрын
AlibifortheAfterlife appreciate it! i’m very new to flight sims in general, and kinda got bored of flying just the airbus. i would turn FLC on at a modest speed and it would rocket my plane directly into the sky and risk stalling, but at least it’s probably a glitch and not necessarily me 😅

@@captainhorn23 FLC will hold an airspeed in climb i.e. 250 knots until the transition to Mach in the mid 30s. The FD will lower the pitch until it hits 250 and raise the pitch until it hits 250. If you use VS, the AP will try to hold the set rate no matter how slow you get. You could stall if you're not paying attention. FLC will help prevent that and help maintain speed.

Yeah it is a little buggy. I have figured out if you set the altitude to where you want it on the ground, then get in the air and set V/S and scroll the wheel to start ascending, it will go to the altitude you set.

@@captainhorn23 From looking at another video and trying it out myself the correct sequence is: ALT button On, wind up Altitude to desired altitude, VS ON, scroll the UP to desired climb rate. throttle up , take off, wheels up. Click AP on. Should then settle at that climb rate.

I don't know if I'm the only one that has this problem or not but the YD does not work on this plane. I like the plane but can't fly it because it won't hold altitude for me, especially in bad weather. This is a great vid. Great info. FS 2020 is my first flight sim and need a lot of help learning. I am going to find your FMS vid. I really want to learn to program my own flt plns instead of always having to port them from Simbrief. Sorry, one other question (of many I'm sure lol) how does one calculate fuel? I've almost run out of fuel twice flying long distances, maybe too far for the craft. Tried KSAN to PHNL and almost dropped into the Pacific lol. Thanks for putting up with my questions.
@captainhorn234 жыл бұрын
Yeah there are a lot of bugs currently with the aircraft. I am glad you think this video was good!!! Fuel calculations are done through simbrief, but a good rule of thumb is always have at least 30 minutes of extra fuel as well as enough fuel to make it to your alternate airport. You can also do some simple math like how many gallons does the aircraft hold and how quickly does it burn through the fuel so like the Cessna CJ4 burns through 184 gallons an hour and it holds 870 gallons so we know just on that information that on a full tank, the Cessna CJ4 is able to fly for about 8 hours until it runs out of gas with a range of 2,165 nautical miles.
@hidemichiXT4 жыл бұрын
Do you know what is the most economic crusing speed and altitude for this plane? Tried few times by giving it full tank + 4 passengers and I cannot exceed 400 -450 NM. Tried with speeds between 180 and 280 and alt. between 27 and 35 000 ft.
@thecorporatepilotdad4 жыл бұрын
45,000 feet in real life but on this game, who knows. The higher you go the lower the fuel flow. True airspeed tends to decrease the last few thousand feet below the service ceiling. The jets I fly perform best about 41,000 feeet. The CJ4 is not realistic in FS2020. It's extremely overpowered.

How much throttle for the take off?
@thecorporatepilotdad4 жыл бұрын
All of it! In real life they have FADECs on the engines which try to prevent the engine from getting too high of an RPM. In real life you select the T.O. detent and the FADEC sets the power based on temperature and some other parameters it looks at. It's like an autopilot for engine speed. FS2020 doesn't really replicate the FADEC the way it works in real life.

Great tutorial! Thank you. One problem I'm having is trying to set up a switch panel so I can avoid using the mouse in the start-up sequence. Everything goes fine until I have to hit the run/stop engine buttons. I discovered for some reason in msfs the keyboard binding for this is actually the fuel mixture binding. This would be fine, except that when I flip the switch (or press the keystroke) to set the fuel mix to rich, the run engine lights come on, but the engines don't actually start. If I turn the run buttons on and off with my mouse first, THEN use the keyboard command, it works. So if the mouse doesn't click it first, the engines can't be started with the keyboard. If anyone knows what's causing this I'd very grateful. Thanks!

Am I the only one who finds auto pilots about as inconsistent as humanly possible? It's like every engineer had his own crazed religious ideologies. Also MSFS auto pilots are buggy as May in muskoka. It's crazy. The altitude setting just does not work, and the vertical speed thing is a joke. Attempts to increase or decrease the vertical speed away from 0 get blocked by bugs. The altitude entered is not accepted. A press in on some auto pilots engages the heading entry. But not here. Here, it just ignores altitudes you enter.
