Very cool! Considering very much on building a motion rig for myself. I think it would be an awesome project for the coming year. You did inspired me! Cheers

Yes, there is nothing better than a good 6DOF motion simulator coupled with VR. I discovered your Channel yesterday, and couldn’t stop watching your 6 parts series on your Virpil FFB mode. Can’t wait to watch your future episodes next year and see your finished product in action! I will join your Discord channel as well. Thanks for the effort of filming your building process, lot’s of fun to watch.

Very cool, though why does it look like your lateral G force is simulated in the opposite direction? For example, if you take a right turn at high velocity (no tilting) the seat should tilt to the left so it feels like you're taking a right turn, just as taking a right turn in a car at high speeds, it feels like forces are pushing you to the left.

Some of the motion cues are probably wrong as you mentioned. The purpose of the video was to show the amplitude and speed at which a platform of this size moves in extreme motion whether right or wrong! : )

What are you using to actuate each arm and what is the weight limit? Very quiet.

750W Servo Motor Driver Set 2.4N.M 0.75KW 3000RPM 90ST-M02430 + AASD-15A. The platform has a weight limit for cockpit and rider around 1500lbs

Hi CalVRsimmer, i read your comment on 90ST hold 1500lbs platform weight. How did you come to that answer? Also what are the +/- of motors mounted on the side via belts, vs driect drive ball screws? Seems to be noisier with added belt noise. Which motion controller are you using? Thanos or Motion4Sim?
@calvrsimer
@calvrsimer Ай бұрын
The spec comes from Departed Reality (platform creator/designer). Not sure, that was the design choice at the time from Departed Reality. I would think inline vs fold back design would be safer because you’re removing the need for a belt that could potentially ware out and break. The upcoming new actuator design from Departed Reality will be using the inline form factor. The noise has nothing to do with the belt, it is all coming from the ballscrews, at least with my platform. I’m using the M4S controller.

@@calvrsimer thank you. I just started welding my frame. Need to decide on actuator and controller. I read flypt is coming with an update and M4S has a button box in a package cheaper than Thanos combo. Are you happy with the spike filter function?
@calvrsimer
@calvrsimer Ай бұрын
@@b6s4shelter I would definitely go for the M4S over Thanos. You should subscribe to the M4S discord channel. The M4S has many avantages over Thanos. All the advantages of M4S over Thanos are listed on its Discord channel, I wrote the list. The spike filter works as expected, it is something I never think about.

How is this intergraded with games or other programs? How does it know how to move according what input? I'm curious
@calvrsimer
@calvrsimer 6 ай бұрын
The game output motion data into a motion cue software, in this case Flypt Mover, which transform that data into motion cues that are outputted into the 6 motors servos via a controller (Thanos or M4S) to create the motion you see in the video. There is no programming involved in the entire process!

if u dont mind me asking how much does something like this rig cost as far as diy minus game controls
@calvrsimer
@calvrsimer 4 ай бұрын
The 6 actuators are about $8000. Some people only build the actuators and weld their own custom base and cockpit. The entire rig made exclusively out of extrusion profiles as you see it in the video is around $11,000 - $12,000 That doesn't include chair, PC, VR headset and all the peripherals.

@@calvrsimer I concur. Which is why I got my 6DOF rig several months ago, mostly for DCS (and some MSFS) in VR. Now I'm trying to learn FlyPT so that I can utilize the virtual tracker for OpenXR MC (OpenXR has better performance in DCS for me). SRS doesn't work well with OpenXR, so I need something else. Enjoying your videos, although I have the PT-Actuator rig. I wish there were videos like yours for those of us with my rig who are new to FlyPT, but I haven't found any yet. Oh, and I use the Aero as well. Awesome VR headset, compared to the others I've had (CV1, RiftS and 8kx). Subscribed 👍🏾
