Hi Joe, yes it sinks the line. It sinks the line quickly and efficiently, much quicker than just simply sticking your rod tip under the water. You'll often see a lot of angler using this technique when fishing the pellet waggler. Hope this helps.

when you sink you line why do u flick the rod tip out of the water vigorously and should you do it every time you sink the line? great vids aswell!!!

It's a polaris float, they cock themselves in the water. Clever things. If you google them I'll sure you'll find lots of info on them etc
